I needed a new water pump,I didnt have time to take my vehicle to my mechanic who is very reasonable.Regardless I asked every thing including taxes total bill no hidden anything,he said $410 out the door.I said do it ,next day they call me tell me my hoses are bad and I need a new thermostat.I ask them how much for the job?They say another $190,I tell them you already removed my hoses and the thermostat is only 2 bolts to remove.If you replace new hoses instead of my original hoses its the same thing.And two hoses plus a thermostat is around $50.He says $190 I tell him dont do it.So two weeks later I by 2 hoses and thermostat $52,I install, I test my origional thermostat and it is fine,also my hoses were fine nothing wrong. They replaced all of my clamps and billed me, the old clamps were fine .The mechanic left one of my spring compression clamps in the middle of my heater hose ,eventually this would have pierced through the hose and would have caused serious damage.Intentional or mistake?When I paid my check, instead of $410 it was $460,also I heard this old lady in a compact car ask how much for a battery installed ,he told her $200 messed up stuff

It is so reassuring to have a place like 16th St. Garage to take your car for regular service or for repairs. They always give an honest estimate and work. If for some reason there is some specific aspect of car repair they are not capable of doing, they will recommend an equally honest specialist. This was the case for me one time. They referred me to a specialist in Long Beach because they didnt think they had fixed the problem. I left my car with the specialist and when he looked at it he told me 16th St. had actually fixed it! He could have told me he had done $$$$ worth of work and I would have had no way of knowing otherwise. We take several family cars there and always receive friendly, honest, helpful service! When it is time for maintenace they check with the auto maker recommendations for your mileage and if that service is needed they recommend you do it! If your brakes dont really need to be rotated or replaced they tell you that it can safely wait until the next service. Previous reviewers are absolutely right - no where better to go in this area!!!

If you need a mechanic and live in or around Seal Beach, look no further. Ive been working with 16th St. Garage for almost a decade and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Professional, Courteous, Top Quality Work, Competitive Prices, and above all Honest! Im in the industry and have worked with countless independent mechanics & dealerships over the years and 16th St. Garage is at the top of my list. This is the the BEST car shop in the area HANDS DOWN! Great customer service, thorough, ready to explain anything for you. Brought my car in when it was chugging ~ they held on to it overnight & couldnt get it to do it again. And charged me NOTHING ~ when have you ever been to a shop & walked away without a bill?? You wont regret having them work on your car!
