Initially, we were pleased with Butler because even when problems occurred, and there were several, Butler had someone here to fix the system soon. However, they now just sell equipment, and their maintenance is handled by one individual contractor who is difficult to contact, and he usually has a 2-week backlog. Also, we had a leak in the roof caused by the installation, and Barry Butler wrote me a note absolving himself and his company of any responsibility for the leak. My handyman found the leak. During installation, the Butler workers had drilled a hole about 2 inches from where they actually wanted it, patched it, and then couldn’t trace the leak when it occurred. Finally, we’ve had three pump failures in six years in addition to various minor problems. We plan to remove or replace the Butler system rather than spending more money to repair an inferior product. Unless you enjoy frustration, find a company who both installs and maintains your solar water heater.

The folks at Butler Sun have been great! They have graciously accepted a return, due to me testing multiple wand sizes, months after their return policy expired. They have accepted countless phone calls from me as I questioned them about technical details that were only peripherally related to their products. They have even drawn piping diagrams for me and emailed them to me to help me figure out my custom system! Thanks folks!

Adding to my original post: I had a leaky faucet and a few on the edge. Rather than spend my weekend attempting to repair, many trips to the hardware store, marring the fixtures, I called Butler Sun Solutions Inc. She was on time, efficient, and no more leaks. The best part was I kept on working at my job! She is great to have around because she gets I am trying to work.
