Home Warranty of America (HWA), under their policy on the house I purchased, said my leaking pool pump was eligible for replacement . Complete Mechanical Services (CMS) of Palm Desert was their local service provider. CMS came and inspected my old pump for $60 which was a reasonable charge and OK. Then they told me I would have to pay an additional $250 for connecting parts not covered under my warranty. First CMS brought the wrong pump. Then they brought and installed a low end Waterway 2 HP pump. This newly installed pump leaked, but I had to return to my summer home and did not want CMS to try to fix the leak until I was back at my California home to oversee their work. After just over 90 days my new pump installed by CMS stopped working completely. I had my pool maintenance man install a good new pump which is still working fine. But it cost me well over $1,000. Both CMS and HWA said it was my problem because their pump was only warranted for 90 days!! The Waterway pumps are warranted for 1 year, but when their local representative was contacted they said that because my pool maintenance man had to break down the pump and motor in order to get in and replace it, their warranty was voided.. I consider Complete Mechanical Services and Home Warranty or America to be unaccountable and disreputable. I would never again do business with either. Fair warning to anyone considering either of these companies, I strongly recommend against doing so. You will regret it if your results are even close to mine.There should be a zero star rating, because these two companies demonstrated unbelievably bad business practices and no integrity or accountability for their poor products and/or poor workmanship. I have notified the Better business Bureau and will be contacting many local real estate businesses to share my experiences with CMS and HWA in hopes real estate companies can save some home owners from the business practices of these two companies.
