Ive never had my hair professionally done before but have always wanted to. Having been referred to this salon by a relative I went in to get a feel of the place while my mum got her hair done. At first, the stylist was polite and kind since my mum is a returning customer. Boy did that change fast. The stylists first mistake was not going over her decision for a hair color to do in my mums hair. Thats right, her decision not my mums; the stylist picked out a colour and went right to work without getting validation it was something my mum wanted. Anyone with common sense should know that problems will ensue if youre doing something as big as coloring a persons hair without double checking that thats the colour they want. Needless to say, the actions committed were bizarre, and the end results were as expected, my mum (the paying customer) was displeased. This made sense considering the color the stylist selected was a bright honeydew which lay on its own end of the colour wheel, far from the colors in my mums hair. Due to the stylists incompetency, my mum had 5 colors going on in her hair- far from ideal. After her initial shock over how terrible it looked my mum asked the stylist to fix the mistake by getting rid of the horrendous colour pallet shed created on her head, to which the stylist responded in a haughty attitude. Id also like to add that rather than have the owner walk over and give his input on the hair, they forced my mum to galavant all over the salon with wet hair and the poncho still attached. Probably one of the most unethical things I have ever seen. The stylist also did not want to correct her mistake, adamant that she was right while my mum was not. In her anger over having to relent and fix the mistake she should have been more than willing to do, (seeing as it is her job & above all, as Ive been taught, the customer is always right) she threw a hissy fit and made the process emotional and discourteously inept. Two very unnecessary behaviours. I watched in horror and dismay as she slammed the foil onto my mums head and smeared the color on it huffing, puffing, and rolling her eyes all the while as she rushed through a 40min process cutting her time in half as she sloppily did her job. I am going to disclose that I ended up recording the entire process having taken enough of her actual abuse to my mum for, and Ill stress this again, doing the job she messed up on. I was horrified that the stylist had brought my mum to tears & that she was forced to sit there waiting while the stylist would go in back several times to vent out her anger. My mother didnt need to sit in a hard chair for prolonged periods of time while the woman dove in back for a pity party. This was the woman I wanted to get my hair done with, but as a first timer getting my hair done what if I didnt like the outcome? Would she get angry and start abusing me if I wanted it fixed? It was stupendously abhorrent behaviour over having to do ones job! The stylist gave my mum a quick scrub of the head, then refused to blow dry it. My mum had to leave the salon with a wet bun she had to do herself because the stylist wanted no more. Later we would realise that the stylists actions made sense since as my mums hair dried, the outcome was still awful and not what she had asked for. So yes, the stylist covered up her job so she wouldnt have to fix it again. At the end of this heinous affair, my mum politely and emotionally tried to plead with the stylist telling her it was unfair how she had treated her and that it should not have been like this (Ill disclose that the conversation was recorded). The stylist remained churlish refusing to apologise for her behaviour and actions. The amount of unprofessionalism, the horrid attitude, and terrible end results were enough. I will not be going here to do my hair, and my mum is now having to live with the mess ups until she can go to another salon to fix the damage done at the hands of the stylist, Kaylee.

I am a “for life” customer of Mary Pat’s at The Twisted Bohemian. The atmosphere of the salon is so calm and the music is fun and upbeat. It is not too loud or too soft, just right. I was offered a drink right away. I did not have to wait at all. Mary Pat was on time. The staff was very kind to each other and the clients. It was just such a wonderful calming atmosphere. My last hair cut was in early April. My life got carried away with getting a house ready to be sold, the kids finishing school, graduating college, finding a new home, taking the NCLEX, job hunting, interviewing, kids changing schools, ending a year+ relationship with a bad karate instructor, etc. Fast forward to early August and it is just time for me. I read reviews about Mary Pat and said, “She looks like what I need.” I use to go to a place that wrote down my first hair cut and length of my hair on a card. Every time I tried to change my style I was told, “but the card says.” Not with Mary Pat. The consultation was amazing. She listened, asked me questions, showed me examples of what she was saying, and gave her professional opinion. We got to work. Well, she got to work. The color was done the way I wanted it. The color is fabulous. I cannot say enough good things about the cut. I have thick long hair. She cut my hair with a razor. What takes a person about 45 minutes with scissors took her all of 20 minutes. What usually take 45 minutes to blow out my hair took her 25 minutes. The soft shaping she did to my hair was amazing. We took more off of the length than I planned. However, I listened to her opinion and she was right. This new length is great and I will be sticking to this length. I have made my next appointment and will making appointments for all the kids in the near future. LOVE this place!

Let me begin by stating that they have a beer fridge. Perhaps not the most important thing people look for in a salon, I’m just sayin. The Twisted Bohemian is an artsy type of place, but it is comfortable for everyone. It’s a total no judgment zone. The owners can be a little crazy/fun, but are always professional when it comes to the services they provide. The salon environment is fun and more importantly, clean and hygienic (Ask the nail technician about steps taken to sanitize everything. It’s extensive!) Tim has been cutting and coloring my family’s hair for years, and I can personally attest that he does a great job. He won’t let you leave the chair until you are satisfied. My wife gets so many compliments and questions about who does her hair that she’s taken to carrying Twisted Bohemian business cards in her purse. I also love the scheduling software that they use. You can schedule an appointment anytime, anywhere via the web. No leaving a message, waiting for a callback, comparing calendars. Just go the website, select an available date and time with the stylist of your choice, and click the button. They even send an email confirmation and reminder texts (if you choice to provide a phone number). Bottom line, you won’t be disappointed. Did I mention the beer fridge?
