This is an update to my review of Rooter Town yesterday March 31, 2017: Not happy when I got home and my wife told me that they apparently couldnt clear the clog. The fact that they told my wife that they ran out 100 of cable(my main line is only 65 from house to street line) and could only get a small hole punched through, they said they have to have the supervisor come out tomorrow to run the camera down the line. I would have no issue, but they charged us $495.00 for something that should have only been $200 if removing the toilet was to cost $105.00........they attempting to charge us another $250 to come out and put the flex cable camera down the line(they never put the downstairs toilet back on)to determine why their two(2) tech couldnt clear the blockage. I then was really upset when I got online to lookup reviews only to find other folks seem to have been ripped off or experienced horrible service from these folks. Thank God my wife paid with a check so we can cancel it in the morning once I meet with the so called supervisor that costs $200 to walk into my house! FYI- the last time I had a camera snaked down the main line(5years ago), it was only $35.00. I will be following up this review after noon tomorrow. So I got a return call from Rooter Town at 7:56am this morning. The story that was told to my wife about not being able to use the toilet other than liquid was apparently another lie. They are telling me that we could have used our toilet and that there was no blockage.......WOW!!! Completely different story. I have requested the supervisor or Ben Thomas to come out to my house in person to get a new check that includes the orginal $95 plus $45 for pulling the toilet and an additional $20 to cover the 20mins into a new hour since they were at my house for 1hr 20mins(time that was used to tell my wife an elaborate story! DONE Plumbing who we should have waited for to begin with, is coming out to re-run the line and confirm I have a truly clear line. Sad that the guy went from $495 down to wanting to charge me only $175 to make it right. Honesty- this company has NONE 9:50am Saturday April 1st Update- I have a better feeling towards Rooter Town after meeting Jesse yesterday at my house to give him the $175 check. He listened to my frustration on how his employees left my wife and daughter hanging with a complete unsure feeling whether we could or couldnt use our toilet.....Jesse wouldnt accept the check and apologized for what we experienced, the company is a family owned and operated business and he stated that scare tactic or any other form of deception is not how they do business and the employees actions and communication techniques will be addressed. He did offer to complete the job for free and extended a free camera snake call in the future if I would be willing to give them a second chance. Any company that provides bonus or incentives to its employees by "Upselling", opens themselves up to the potential abuse of creating problems to increase the invoice by their field employees if there is not a moral compass. I will seriously take Jesses offer into consideration the next time around.

We had a total back-up in our downstairs bathroom. The first plumber we tried was not able to make it out till very late in the night, so we contacted Rooter Town. Their tech came out and he was very friendly. He had to remove the toilet which was another $130 charge on top of the regular fee for drain cleaning, we agreed and he spent the next hour cleaning it out. He said he wasnt able to get it very far down and that we needed to have a supervisor come out and inspect the line with a camera for another $250. He told us that we needed to use a little water as possible while we waited. We agreed and scheduled an appointment. The supervisor and another tech came out two days later. They spend put the camera down the drain and also used a metal detector to locate some of the cast iron pipes. They came back to me and said we had a bad corrosion in our pipes that made them a lot narrower. The supervisor said he wanted to save us money by not tearing the pipes out. He told my husband that the other option was to excavate a hole in the front yard, replace the drain pipe, and install a cleanout to jet the line. He quoted us $5800 for the work and told us that they could have a team there the same day. Some of the bushes they wanted to remove were the duty and property of the HOA. My husband repeatedly told the supervisor that he could not continue without talking to the HOA about the plants as the property manager was currently out of the office. The supervisor would respond with, "Its not a big deal, they will just repay for it", totally ignoring the concern that we couldnt remove the trees. He also offered if it was a money thing he could call the boss and get a discount for us. They used lots of scare tactics such as "Well you dont want to run the water very much because it could back up at any moment". My husband refused and said he would get back to them. An hour after they left, the downstairs toilet, which they had removed and replaced, was still running and trying to fill with water. We were very confused because the toilet was fine until they took it off. We called the supervisor back. When we explained the problem to him, he sounded like he expected us to call back the very issue, and said it was our fill valve without looking at it and that we would need to replace the toilet for $275 and they could do it. Meanwhile the HOA called back and said we couldnt pull the bushes out and that they had never heard of that needing to be done to fix the plumbing. We called a second plumber for a second opinion. He was able to get the clogged removed fairly easily and said there was no sign of corrosion in our pipes. He also said the total didnt need to be replaced and that it just needed a $20 part. The whole bill from the 2nd plumber was $390. These guys are a total scam. They will try to scare you into work you dont need. Their "supervisor" is nothing more than a slimy salesperson in disguise. Avoid at all cost, there are much better plumbers out there.

Our main drain was backing up in our basement so we needed our main line to be rooted. My wife called Rooter town by mistake when searching for 99 rooter. I was about 5 min away from home when she called me and said the rooter guy could not finish rooting because of a major blockage and they would need to charge an additional 275 for a camera inspection. I arrived and spoke to Tanner. He said there was a blockage that he tried to get through after banging his blade against it 12 times. I told him its probably roots, and he refused. He went on to say that the inspection is needed. Tanner was completely avoiding eye contact with me. I told him 275 is too much for a camera inspection as I paid 140 for one when I first purchased my house. He called his supervisor and the price suddenly dropped to 150. They were scheduled to come later that evening after he took my card to charge the entire amount upfront and left. I was getting nervous at the thought that there is a big issue that will most likely cost me thousands. I spoke with my father who agreed to bring his 100 foot rooter over to see if we can get it through. I called them to cancel my appointment and told them I would call them back and schedule a new appointment if I still needed the inspection. They gave me such a hard time insisting on me just rescheduling and not canceling, even stating, "well what are you going to do, youre out of service arent you? What are you going to do about that?" I told them I would root it myself. He questioned what brand rooter and I said it doesnt matter I am going to attempt it either way. He said well just reschedule and call me when it doesnt work. I said no. He then told me that my card was already charged for the full amount. I said Im really upset about that because even in their payment disclosure on their invoice it states that only 50% of the amount is due before the work is started, and they need to refund me my money. (Turns out my bank account only showed the original 95 and not the additional 150). Once my father arrived we put the rooter to work. We slowly fed the main line all 100 feet. I even thought it may have gotten bunched up in an area. We ran the bath tub and two faucets all at the same time and even plugged the bath tub and released it. Not a single time did it back up. It is still running great. I could not believe how incredibly easy it was to root it. I was glad that I was able to resolve my own issue but I was also really mad that Rooter town wasnt able to just fix the issue. I dont understand how our residential rooter worked better than their commercial rooter. I do appreciate that they refunded me my money after I spoke with their GM. However, I could have easily agreed to spend thousands with the thought that I had no other choice. I will say that you definitely need to get a second opinion if a camera inspection is recommended. Chances are it will be very costly so the second opinion will only help you.
