Roto Rooter came to my house after I had my sewer line backup in the basement. The first guy that came snaked the line. He told me he got out to the main city line, pulled some roots, and then ran water down the line for 10 minutes and all looked pretty good. Because of the extent of the backup he recommended that we have one of their guys come out to run a camera down it to see if we had any issues that might cause more problems in the future. This seemed reasonable so I agreed. The camera guy came in and on the way down to the basement was already giving me a quote to replace the line. Interestingly, he already seemed to know that the block was going to be 35 from the house. This was my first red flag. Regardless, I had no reason not to trust this guy so he proceeded. I came back to check in on him midway through the scope and he showed me where there was a "complete obstruction" presumably caused by roots but quite possibly also from our pipe collapsing. He showed me (by repeatedly ramming the camera down into the line) how he could not get the camera past the block at 35 out from the house. He went outside and marked the block with green paint. Given the age of our house I might have believed him if it werent for the guy who snaked it telling me that he got all the way through to where the pipe meets the city line. So, now Im not sure what to think. After a bit of a hard sell with the camera guy going into great detail about how the line needs to be replaced and will back up again "immediately" if I didnt act fast, I got a proposal to do the work from him and he left. The proposal was to dig 6 down for 35 from the house for $8795. I didnt have a great feeling about it so I called another company for a second opinion. The second company came and quite easily put their camera through the line all the way to where it meets the city line (well past 35, by the way). It was very obvious that there was not a full obstruction and no sign at all of the pipe collapse that Roto Rooter diagnosed. I called Roto Rooter to complain and have since had several conversations with them about this. They genuinely seemed concerned about the issue and have sent me their video so that we can try to understand what made the camera guy run into what he thought was a complete block. Honestly, Im not sure what was going on. I dont know if they are paid on some kind of commission or if that camera guy (who was also a field supervisor) was just not the most ethical person. Maybe he is not representative of the whole organization. I dont know. But what I do know is that he lead me to believe that my line needed to be replaced and that no other option would do which was not true. Im glad a got a second opinion. I question the honesty and integrity of some of the people employed by Roto Rooter.

I have NEVER received such incredibly courteous, professional, and friendly service from a plumber in my entire life!! Since Ive owned my home Ive had several plumbers here to fix this or that install 3 water heaters in less than 6 years and though RR wasnt the one who installed the last one he gave me an incredible price, flat rate and met me at Lowes and brought it to my house and installed it that night and it took him until after midnight to get it in but he stayed and he did NOT charge me any extra except for some parts he needed to complete the job still it was a more than reasonable and fair price he asked. As for Bob Griffon! He will be my plumber from here on out! He was spectacular and I have to tell you RR is MORE than Blessed to have him on their team and in their employ! He is an incredible person and true to his word which means a LOT to me since Ive been completely scammed and cheated for more than $2000 and because of the money stolen from me by these two other self proclaimed professional contractors stealing my money and leaving me UNFINISHED jobs and ceramic tile flooring being done incorrectly I ended up having to do the ceramic tile myself all over again and I did a BETTER job than either of those thieves. Its a much longer story but I wont spill it all right now, I just want to say how AWESOME Bob Griffon was and how grateful I am for all he did while he was here and for the fact that he had NO problem explaining to me what he was doing and why this didnt work and that went wrong etc. Hes a special person and a hard worker and YOU Roto Rooter should count your blessings that you have him working for you!! I appreciate honesty, hard work, an impeccable work ethic and fair pricing and he delivered all the way!! I went to FACEBOOK and also posted there on your website how awesome he is. I hope yall read every word because he deserves a RAISE!! or something!! Some kind of special recognition because if he is like this with ALL of the people he provides his services to then he deserves much more than just recognition!! JOB SECURITY is what he should be offered on top of a raise! Just sayin and it is my humble opinion!! There just are words adequate enough to express my gratitude to him for just the type of person he is...

In March of 2012 I called Roto Rooter for backed up pipes. They told me the pipe was broken and needed to be replaced. David De Rosier came to my house to explain the work that would be done. He said they had to dig up the street and it would be $8400.00. The pipes in my yard would need to be replaced eventually, but because of the expense he told me Roto Rooter would replace the pipes from the main city line in the street to my yard. Then when I was ready to replace the pipes in my yard it would be cheaper because they would not have to dig up the street again. That part would be done already. He wrote up a contract and put 10 feet to be repaired including city tap. What I did not know (yes, Im stupid) was that from the city line to my yard was at least 16 feet. Roto Rooter did the work and I thought the pipes were replaced from the tap to my yard. I should not have trusted them. When I later had more trouble, I called Roto Rooter. They said I needed to replace the pipes in my yard and they would have to dig up the street. When I asked them why, that was supposed to be done already, they said they did not know why the work had not been done. I should have addressed it then, but I did not want to go through what I am having to go through now. The other company said they would replace the pipes in my yard and would replace the pipes in the street without digging up the street. When they finished they said they were not able to replace 2 feet of pipes in the street. So, I still have 2 feet of pipes that have not been replace, after about $15,000 of work. (Yes, Im stupid) Now, the pipes are clogged so I cannot not use my bathroom. I called the second company to come out. They say that those 2 feet need to be replaced to fix the problem. I called roto rooter. They will not take responsibility for the job. The contract does not reflect what I was verbally told by Roto Rooter. So now I have no bathroom and no money to fix the pipes. Since I found out Roto Rooter did not do the first job they told me they would do, I have talked to people who say this is normal business practice for Roto Rooter. I want Roto Rooter to honor their verbal contract with me and do the job they said they would do in the first place.
