I saw a value add deal for an $80 furnace/AC tune up. John arrived on time and was professional. Instead of a tune up John inspected the furnace and stated the unit is at the verge of running too hot due to lack of air flow. He said my furnace was installed incorrectly and recommended raising the furnace up so the intake would come from the bottom at a cost of $1195. He also recommended a deep clean of the furnace $285 and Evap Coils $565. He enticed me with a monthly service contract $15/mo to lower the total cost to $1636. Sticker shocked I went online to find the installation instructions to confirm the furnace was installed incorrectly. The instructions stated that the side return air intake was acceptable. I sent an email to Swan questioning this and Andy Swan responded that per the notes in the installation instruction if the unit has more than 1800cfm air flow requirements then the intake hole needs to be on the bottom. I asked how to confirm that my furnace had this requirement and Andy then backtracked saying that he checked with the manufacturer and that my furnace is right at the 1800cfm and that I didnt need the air intake altered. At this point I got more suspicious and decided to get a second opinion. The new contractor quoted a much cheaper price to have the furnace and Evap coils cleaned, and stated the air intake was fine. I informed Andy Swan that a long term trusting relationship was not possible and asked to cancel my monthly contract and to just be charged for the furnace tune up since he didnt work on my air conditioner. I was going to leave things at this figuring I could chalk it up to a difference in opinion, but then I got this response from Andy Swan: "Mike, If you are merely searching for someone to tell you what you want to hear ( that your furnace is perfect ) then we are not the right company for you. John is one of the sharpest techs around. I guarantee you if your heat exchanger is pulled out of your furnace you will see several dark black burn marks from the furnace getting too hot. This is caused by a lack of airflow. I dont understand why you would even have your furnace looked at in the first place if you are going to argue with someone that is giving you constructive ideas on how to improve the performance of your system. I will cancel your club membership and not charge anything for Johns visit yesterday. Good Luck!" John specifically said that with the camera he did not see any signs of burning on my heat exchanger. Any company that is scared of a second opinion definitely does not appear to be honest. Glad I will not be doing any more business with Swan and glad they did one right thing by not charging me for the service.

I called Swan to do a furnace and A/C check and tune-up at our home. To be honest, my view is that most HVAC companies offer deals on checks/tune-ups primarily as a sales opportunity. Thus, Im always a bit skeptical of any "recommendations" that they might make during the service. Nonetheless, I think its worthwhile to have a pro do a check, give me their thoughts, and then I can research what they are proposing before I agree to have any further services performed. The only time I run into an issue is if a company is pushy, aggressive, or using "alarmist" tactics to try to do a hard-sell. Long story short, I had no such experience with our tech Drilon, who was as professional as they come. He arrived during the service window, was happy to have me accompany him throughout the process, and walked me through what he was doing and what he was seeing as he completed the check. He did make some recommendations to do a thorough cleaning/overhaul on the furnace, as he noticed some rust and other deposits as well as a temperature rise that was at the high end of the manufacturers recommendations. Given the age of the furnace, I think this is a reasonable recommendation and plan to do some research before calling Swan to come out again. Having not worked with Swan on anything more than a check/tune-up, I can only speak to that. However, for the price, I think they did a good job and were not hard-selling me or trying to alarm me into thinking the furnace needed to be outright replaced.

New to area and this was first experience with Swan Plumbing and Heating. Learned about Swan through local advertising coupon received in the mail. Called for an appointment to repair leaking humidifier and have furnaces serviced. While not an emergency, the contact at Swan professionally handled my call and scheduled an appointment the next day convenient for me. The service person was Tyler. I was impressed that he was considerate and made sure he had covers for his boots before entering my house. Upon inspection of my furnace and humidifier, he determined that it had not been correctly wired upon installation 12 months earlier by another contractor. He prepared an estimate, rewired humidistats, reprogrammed the thermostat, serviced my furnaces all in a most professional and competent fashion. Clearly Tyler was well trained and up to date on the latest technology. I immediately became a preferred customer and signed up for the Swan Program. I can recommend Swan without reservation. Second visit by Tyler to routine service air conditioning. Very thorough. Also asked him to hook up outside temp sensor on my new Trane system. Tyler did the research and determined we could get data online through thermostat rather than run the costly wire sensors. Saved me money and more efficient solution. Tyler is a very bright, solution oriented technician. Another outstanding service call.

John explained in detail what the problem was; he presented us with several options, along with as many price ranges, using a high professional level, and the total absence of pressure. To help us understand better, he compared the plumbing main line with a tree, and the sink and laundry ramifications with branches. He then explained our options, and carefully weighted the pros and cons of each individual option. It was easy to understand why some repairs could be done by work performed below or above the ground; he explained why the proposed work will solve our several years long problem. He suggested we should start with the least expensive option, and only move to the next if it failed. Even then, he said, the fee will be applied toward the final price. Others presented us with only the most expensive option, and failed to simplify the complex plumbing terms, techniques, and procedures. What really made the difference though, was the total absence of pressure. John was more than ok with us asking for a second opinion, or taking our time to make up our minds. We kind of took advantage by calling him several times after the meeting, asking even more questions. John helped again and again, remaining always professional, patient, and polite. In the end, the overall impression was highly favorable, so we could definitely say that we have made an informed decision.

Jon came out after I called the company for a second opinion on a potential sewer pipe repair. I was very impressed with how precise he was in locating the exact spot underground where the issue was. I also now know EXACTLY where our iron pipe ends and clay pipe begins. Another company had previously come out and told us our pipe needed to be repaired in 2 places....one of which would involve digging through the basement floor. Watching with Jon as the camera went through the pipe, I saw the camera go under water in that spot under the house. Jon explained that it was just a tiny flat spot in the pipe and did not need to be repaired. I told him the previous guy said the bottom of the pipe was rotted out under the house and asked Jon if he was absolutely sure the pipe was really OK there. He told me he checked that spot under the house several times just to make sure there wasnt something he was missing and assured me it was nothing more than a tiny flat spot. Jon spent nearly 3 hours here figuring out exactly what needed to be done and making sure I understood it all. He also seemed to have all the patience n the world with any questions I had. This will definitely be my go-to company for any future plumbing issues.
