We originally needed to replace two water heaters. I had three people come out and give me bids. The company I chose to work with ended up calling me the day of install to tell me they were no longer doing plumbing due to losing their master plumber. I was not super impressed with he other two bids I got so asked for a recommendation from the company that cancelled. They had excellent things to say about Sunshine so I called. They were very responsive and friendly on the phone. Casey (who is no longer with the company), came out and, unlike the other companies that I got bids from, suggested we look into getting a tankless water heating system. The bid for a tankless was just a tiny bit more than 2 water heaters so we chose to make the switch. There was a line item on the bid that should not have been. One of the owners called to explain the error to me and removed it - which made the bid even more appealing! Casey came out and installed the unit and we have had no regrets - especially with the much longer life expectancy of a tankless vs. tank system. While it was inconvenient, we were thrilled the first company we chose to get tanks from cancelled. Shortly after getting the tankless installed, we had a small leak on our main line right near the foundation. Jeff Long came out on this call. It was later in the day. He offered to try and fix it right then, but was concerned that the parts stores were closed - just in case there were any issues. Since the leak was not major, Jeff came out a couple days later to fix our leaky main line. He also relocated our sprinkler shut off valve so we can have the house water off yet still have the sprinklers run (when we are on vacation). Coincidentally, our tankless stopped working the night before Jeff came out. After much trouble shooting and cutting pipes, he determined that water was in our exhaust vent for the tankless. Turns out, our youngest son (or his friends) who were playing in the sprinklers that day had put some water in the pipe. While my husband and I were quite frustrated, Jeff handled the situation like a pro. He got rid of all the water and installed a different end on the exhaust so it would not be so easy for water to "accidentally" enter again. Definitely much more work than he expected that day! Overall, we had an EXCELLENT experience with Sunshine plumbing, heating and air and would not hesitate to use them again.

Companys fees seemed excessive to me. Company charged $373 to remove one nut on shower valve and replace a small part. Calcium deposits had seized the nut and I was uncomfortable loosening the nut myself by using too much force so I called Sunshine. To be fair, the tech gave me this price before doing the work but, as is usually the case in these types of situations, I felt I had no option because I had to pay the base fee even if I declined and called in another plumber. After quickly removing the nut, the tech advised me that it would be best to replace the entire shower valve (which is behind the shower wall) for $900 because of some calcium deposits that might prevent the new part from sitting tightly. The tech seemed less than firmly behind this recommendation which left me with the possibility that this advice may be motivated more by additional charges rather than doing what was best for the customer. I asked whether using some calcium remover would eliminate the deposits. This seemed to surprise him and he had none to use (which struck me as odd for a plumber not to have). So I used some lime remover I had and I cleaned the valve myself (while the plumber I paid $373 watched me) and quickly cleaned the valve to a nearly spotless new condition. The tech put the new part in and it all works perfectly. I hoped the tech would revisit the charge in light of simple job but he didnt. I had also asked for an estimate for a water heater. He gave me an estimate of about $2,700 for a 50 gal, 6 year warranty Bradford & White water heater. For that price I would also get a two year membership to the "Sunshines club", which involved, among other things like price discounts on future service, free inspections of my heating and air conditioning systems, which I assume is simply a way for the plumber to look for more work opportunities. Later that day called Home Depot for its cost for a water heater. For the premium Rheem 50 gal water heater with twice the warranty period (12 years) AND installation, Home Depot charged $1,600 - almost half the price of what the Sunshine Plumbing quoted for me. This in my opinion confirmed that I was overcharged for the initial valve work. You can draw your own conclusions about this company and its pricing, but I will not go back.

I am a big review guy when it comes to selecting a company or product for services. I will generally go online and read as many reviews from other customers on as many platforms as possible before I make the decision on who/what I want to go with. I found Sunshine Plumbing on google and noticed their star ranking was 4.5 - 5 stars. I read reviews from other customers and they were all positive and informational. I called Sunshine Plumbing and described my issue I was having with my water heater. The person that answered was polite, listened to my issues and answered my questions. This was the same day that we had a large snow storm in our area, and was assured that someone would still come out regardless of the weather conditions. I scheduled a visit and my technician "William" called before he arrived and actually showed up a little early. William explained everything in detail, gave me multiple options, and attempted to fix the issue with out just replacing stuff. Since my water heater was in dire need of replacement, William said he could replace everything the same day and would have it done in a few hours. He priced everything out on his ipad at that moment and allowed me to choose exactly what I wanted so there was no guess work involved when it came down to the bottom line. William returned promptly with everything and replaced the entire unit and even did some extra work he didnt need to do. William said that he couldnt leave me with the poor quality work that was done by the previous water heater installer. I would recommend Sunshine Plumbing to anyone who needs an honest company that will work with you to solve your issues, they provide a wide range of services, and they seem to genuinely care for their customers. I will continue to do business with them.

Bottom line: keep looking. This place is OK if you like average work and paying extreme prices. Their shady FTL financing company is impossible to deal with. Go figure. $1,575 for installation of a typical 40 gal, natural gas tank that likely costs around $400, Im guessing. Company would not break down cost in defense of flat rate pricing despite request. No transparency. Otherwise, service was fine. Service technician arrived early, performed heater flush on existing tank. Technician was not able to relight the pilot light. This, plus corrosion on tank, drove decision to replace heater. All in all, fine work, but expensive, especially for a standard tank (not even rated as energy efficient). (Why arent the fittings gold-plated?) Will be shopping around in the future as this may or may not be a good value for the money. Communication level is substandard, consistent with other reviewers. Could not get a straight answer out of them. All of the meaningful communication I had was through the shady financing company. Yes, the financing company. Which was not even the right financing company to go with, which was not communicated by Sunshine until AFTER the approval went through. Sunshine didnt have the information right on their i-pad! Use this as a price point. This seems like a decent company but expensive. I would say they met expectations - hot water heater works. Considering the price, I wouldnt say they exceeded expectations. I think its fitting to the company, somehow, that Sunshine Owner is willing to respond to 5 star reviews but not willing to address any criticism coming from a poor review! That speaks volumes, Owner.
