I am a little sad that I even have to write this review. I took my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee in to West Highlands Auto Repair as I had a sensor on the motor that had failed and was causing my car to fail to run. I usually do my own vehicle work but had exhausted all options in getting this problem fixed. After reading outstanding reviews, I had my car towed in and the team at West Highlands went ahead and diagnosed the problem and fixed that specific problem that ended up being the oil pressure switch that had failed. I feel it was a fair price and a timely repair. That is where my enthusiasm towards this shop changed. When I took my car in, it was showing only one engine code for the sensors on my jeep. I went to pick my Jeep up and when I left the lot I realized that I had much bigger problems. Immediately when leaving the shop, my service 4WD alert light came on, my car slow cranks almost as if the battery is dying, the tire pressure monitor light flashes often with no explanation, and when I start my vehicle, there is a long delay for any of the heating or air conditioning switches will respond. I called and they said to bring my Jeep back in and they would check these problems. I took it in not two days later and after having my car all day, I had to call to check the status to find out it had been checked out earlier, they just never though to call me. The service advisor then told me that none of the issues that were going on had anything to do with the work they did and that there was definitely a problem with the 4WD system but that is all they saw and they wanted another $90 just to look at it. Rather than try and come to a compromise as I had just spent my hard earned money with this business, the service advisor proceeded to argue with me over the phone even though he did not have all the facts from the service tech about the problem. I arrived to pickup my jeep and argued for 15 minutes longer with no conclusion. I asked to have the manager call me, to which the service advisor said he would do the next day. I waited for two days with no call so I decided to once again take it upon myself to call and the manager told me that even though the problems had not happened before I took my vehicle there and were not noticed during the initial visit, but were there immediately when I picked my vehicle up that it was nothing to do with them and there was nothing he would do for me. I find it most disappointing that a company that appears to strive on great customer service, would even let one fall through with no apparent regard. I recommend anyone use caution when making a decision to trust this company and its workers with your vehicle. After taking my car to a trusted person, I was informed that when West Highlands completed the work, that they shorted out my battery and I had to get a new one.... Bam problem solved.

The first time I used West Highland Auto Repair was for an oil change and it took over 4 hours. It was reasonably priced and the front desk was friendly. I recently received another coupon in the mail for an oil change so I booked it; hoping it wouldnt take as long. I arrived a few minutes late (7 to be exact), my fault, but they said they "gave my spot to someone else" and it was going to be 5 hours until they finished my oil change. I told them I couldnt leave it here that long. Instead of trying to make it work, they just apologized and said sorry. I told them Id find another mechanic to take my truck to and they said ok and have a nice day. Im a small business owner and I would never let anyone walk out my doors unhappy and I would bend over backwards to help the customer regardless of the circumstance. Unfortunately, this place did not see the value in me as a customer like I would have wanted them to. Im sure theyre a good local mechanic for some people. Unfortunately I will not be going back to this business.

James and West Highlands Auto repair were unbelievably helpful and were beyond fair in a variety of ways. Although my car repairs ended up costing far more than I imagined- they worked with me to find ways to reduce the overall cost and took it upon them selves to fix additional technical problems eating the labor and parts costs- what mechanics would do that? James has wonderful customer service skills, is kind, professional and really is dedicated to leaving the customer happy. Hes a really nice guy. Originally I took my car to one of their local competitors and my experience was soooooo awful. After my car sat at their shop for 3 weeks I finally got it toed to West Highlands Auto and began the whole process again. Ill leave a review for this other mechanic shortly. I highly recommend these guys.

The only reason why I am giving this place a one star review for the owners manners. Hes a super nice guy but I have learned a long time ago that people are nice to cover up something. My former land lord recommend West Highlands because he is a personal friend to her. I took the car to get it repaired and it was finished it still had rattling noises. Brought it back and then charged for another repair. Thought is was strange that I had to bring it back a third time for something they missed. Finally, brought it to another garage and the high pitched noise went away. The other mechanic said that if I didnt bring in the car soon, the barrings would have went and it would have been trouble for me. If you dont mind throwing you money away after you never get the car fixed then by all means go

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I took my truck in very recently for an overall checkup, I was told my brakes were in poor shape and given a quote for front pads and rotars. $650, labor estimated at 6h. Rear brake work for $630 labor est at 4h. I was shocked and got a second opinion, thank goodness! perry and sons took a look and found 75% life left on both fronts and rears. they showed me pictures of the testing in progress with tires off. I was charged nothing. West highlands thought it fare to charge me $50 for a "check up". I asked if they checked the fluids, no. i asked if they checked the brake lines, no. Im left wondering what I was charged for? these guys are either scammers or incompetent; neither of which is somebody id trust with my vehicle.

Went there for the first time. Excellent experience. My car was overheating and the power steering pulley was making a weird sound. Before Id even agreed to any work, the mechanic came out and inspected the engine. He diagnosed the weird sound as a contaminant on the serpentine belt and proved it by spraying a cleaner on it, which made the sound worse. He could have charged me a fortune for replacing a perfectly good power steering unit but instead told me that after a while the sound would likely go away. He then tested my radiator, found the leak, showed it to me, and replaced it with a new one. They then stayed late to finish the job the same day. Outstanding. They earned my repeat business.
