If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. I had scheduled my July wedding day hair trial & day of style here with Hilary Matthies ( owner of Hair artistry by Hillary) back in April. First off, Hillary switched me to the Lakewood location the day before I had my Trial Run, because she had to fill in last minute. This is fine, things come up No biggie. My trial was at 10AM. Hillary didnt show up until about 10:20, which I should have known was a bad sign. However I went ahead with my trial anyway and tipped 20%. As we were chatting, I had mentioned that I had already booked her on my wedding day for 2PM on Thursday July 21st. She then told me that she was going on vacation and wouldnt be back by July 21st- Which was odd, since I had already scheduled both of these appointments with her back in April- and I had not been informed of any schedule changes. She told me to hang on while she went to "double check" her calendar. She came back, and told me to relax, because she was just confused, and would in fact be back in time for my wedding, but she didnt see me on her calendar. Well now I am panicking, as my wedding is only a month away, and she doesnt even have me on her calendar now?? I have gotten several confirmation emails confirming my appointments. Both trial and wedding day hair. How can I get confirmations, but she doesnt see me on her schedule? This makes no sense. She told me to call and double check with the other location that they had me scheduled. I left the salon- feeling confused and stressed, hoping my wedding day would go much smoother.....well, that was asking for far too much. Il get to that later. When I got home I emailed the Inca St. location (the location I originally scheduled at) and the salon manager emailed me back, assuring me I was in fact scheduled on my wedding day and that Hillary mustve been looking at the other locations schedule. Wow, how unorganized can these people be!!!!! Anyways, back to my wedding day.... So July 21st rolls around. Ive just had my makeup done by the Makeup Madame (Lindsay Ambrosio) The BEST makeup artist ever. I highly reccommend her...and now, I am headed to appointment #2, my hair. So far my day has been stress free, and moving right along. UNTIL, I arrive at Zandi K (Inca St. location) I check in with the front desk, give them my name and appointment time, and say I am scheduled with Hilary. The lady at the front tells me to hang out, and Hilary will be right with me (she will go let her know I am here) NO JOKE I waited for 45 minutes before the same girl at the front desk tells me there has been a scheduling conflict, and Hillary is in Hawaii!!! Are you F****** kidding me.....TODAY IS MY WEDDING DAY and there is nobody here to do my hair. Un-freaking-believable. Literally every brides worst nightmare. And it took them 45 minutes to realize she is on vacation? After all the confirmation emails, all the double checking, These people are ridiculous. How they can run a salon and keep people happy and coming back is beyond me! Thank fully, there was a woman available(a level 1 stylist) to at least try to do what we did during my trial run- but we were rushed (I was already 45 minutes behind after waiting) I am thankful at least somebody was available to do my hair, but I am at a loss for words on how unorganized, and unprofessional Zandi K is. I will tell everyone I know to never come to this salon. And if you are a Bride-to-be looking for a place to get your hair done. WARNING DO NOT GO HERE, BOOK ELSEWHERE. Unless you like a stressful and unorganized wedding day, then this is your place! WORST HAIR SALON EVER!!!!!!!! Hilary Matthies is a joke, dont book her through Zandi K or her own company Hair Artistry by Hillary- you will be let down, or worse stranded on your wedding day like I was. TAKE MY ADVICE!

Why is it SO difficult to find a decent salon in Denver? After trying multiple salons and being unimpressed with the results, I decided to give Zandi K a shot. Well, I can now add it to my list of salons that I will not be returning to. I originally went to Zandi K for a color consultation and met with J (abbreviation to protect his identity). As a blonde, I described that I wanted to be a darker blonde, showed him pictures, and together we picked out a color swatch. The following week I returned for a color and cut. After coloring, my hair was DARK brown (almost black), not only not what I asked for but drastically darker. Upon consulting with another stylist, who commented that my hair is super absorbent (as if it was my fault) J decided to try to lift the color at the bowl. It came out slightly lighter, but still brown and clearly not what we had discussed. In fact, when compared to the picture I showed, it couldnt look more different. By this point I had been at the salon for three hours, left with brown hair, and J did not have time to style my hair before I left. He recommended that I wear it for a few days to see what I think and then come back next week. Today I returned and J lifted the color again and then applied additional color. The color is nice and lighter, but still does not match the picture that I showed at all of my appointments. At the end of my appointment, when I walked to the front counter, J told me that I was good to go unless I wanted to book additional appointments, and then the receptionist told me that I owed $160. Upon returning home I visited the salons facebook page to read previous reviews and discovered that they were offering a promotion for 1st time clients to receive a free haircut with a color service (exactly the services I received). When I called to ask if this offer could be applied to my services, I was denied and referred to the owner. Upon speaking to the owner, after lecturing me that "hair services are a science" she again denied any discount. She did however offer to apply a future discount service to my account (as if i would return to the salon after this mess!) So, after spending 8 hours in the salon, I left paying full price, for hair that does not match what I asked for or what I wanted. The only positive of this entire experience was that J is a kind, patient, and understanding individual.

Ill give anyone a second shot. Both times I went in and explained what I wanted; straight across, NO LAYERS. Both times the stylist tried to convince me I should get layers to add more body/shape/interest. I explained that with my very straight hair, when I get layers I end up with a helmet on top and the long layers sticking out every direction and getting frizzy at the bottom. She continued to push, insisted that when done right it wont do that, I relented. I finally found a new salon. Before I said anything about my hair or what I was looking for, the stylist commented on how choppy my layers were. The layers were drastically different lengths, and they were cut very sharply instead of being blended in. Small thing, but I also really dislike the trendy techno crap they play. Lastly, I really dislike the sneaky upsell of products every time I go in. The second time I went in, after my cut my stylist led me back to the front desk by way of the product shelves. She picked up a product, said something along the lines of "this is that thing I used in your hair", and then immediately put it down on the desk. I had never shown any interest in purchasing this. She walked off, and the receptionist started ringing me up, including the product. I told her "I never said I wanted to purchase that product." As though if they just rush through it, I wont have enough time to decide for myself whether I want to buy it or not. I guess you get what you pay for.
