I rarely write reviews but I felt my 6 month journey with General Steel to design and deliver my garage building project was an amazingly smooth experience warranting this feedback. Yes, we had the proverbial construction challenges along the way but in the end everything came together quite nicely. Jim and Levi (SteelIt) did a truly outstanding job assembling my significant investment. I was very impressed with Jim’s knowledge, ability, and willingness to work through the inevitable challenges involved. Thanks so much for recommending him as my installer. I am certainly no critic in the steel building industry but I’m personally very impressed how well my building turned out. Really, the whole experience beginning by talking with Mike on my initial needs and setting a path, figuring out details with Ryan, working with Megan on shipping, Dauphne on post-delivery, and Jim for installation has been a very smooth, positive, and enjoyable experience. Five stars does not seem to be enough stars for General Steel! We contacted several companies to get bids. All were way more expensive than GS. Our salesman, Ryan Clark, gave us recommendations that saved us, like considering a larger standard building that was less expensive than the odd size that we first talked about. Ronald Lamping, Daphne Yakobson & Megan Nylander helped us through the paperwork. But extra stars need to go to Jonah Goldman for all the help "do-it yourselfers" needed. If Jonah did not have the answer he would "find out & get back to you", which he did. If there was any glitch, it was a few miss labeled parts. But a quick call & everything would be explained so we could correct it. It was a Big project but with all the help it went smoothly. If we were 15 years younger we would do it again! And to Bruce Graham, thanks for using our photos.

Our building was delivered and I want to thank you for your customer service. The driver that delivered or building was the nicest truck driver we have ever meet. His name was David Jones. We had never removed items off a truck and he was patience and guided us through step by step. Your company was very professional beginning with our first phone call with Ron Lamping to the final delivery.Thank you Dauphne for the reminders to fax in paper work as needed. We are waiting for concrete to be poured the building will not be built within a month.If I could encourage anyone to do business with this Company you will not be sorry. If we ever build another shop for play toys we will use General Steel again. Thank you once again for a wonderful experience ordering your building. I will refer your company to our friends. I was shopping for a building to use for boat storage as well as a garage and workshop. I contacted General Steel and a few other steel building companies. I was put in contact with Shawn A. at General Steel, he did a really good job following up with me and answering my questions without being pushy. The building is being put up in the U.P of Michigan and snow is a real concern here, I originally had planned on stick building , but after comparing prices, a steel building seemed like the better way to go. My final decision came down to comparing reviews on the two steel companies, General Steel had a much better on-line reputation. After bashing the competition on several different occasions, the sales person went as far as sending me "court documents" about a dispute with a competitor. I was not concerned with this. Nor was I worried about paying up to 4k more if I bought my building from a local dealer rather than factory direct. They just happened to have a building that fit my dimensions and local building code requirements. Of course they did, so did every other company I called. But you had to buy it right away or the deals would vanish! I am currently dealing with a company who has been recommended by a local builder. I wont mention any names but these guys realize that you dont just jump right into a project like this without researching it first.

General collected deposits from my companys building site. They have been unable to complete the building in a timely manner, while asking for more deposits. We cannot get any answers about a delivery date, and I am afraid of the product when it does arrive, due to other posters. I can tell you this, the company has a major communication problem. I will let you all know when, and if, I have to start legal action against this company. I am done communicating with them. I have a lawyer now looking into it. I want a delivery date for our product. I am being held hostage by a company with a poor reputation for delivery. I will have a course of action in place by early next week, so I can complete this project.

Purchased a General Steel building through one on their recommended "best contractors" in Oct, 2013. It is now almost Dec, 2014 and all I have is a foundation and a pile of steel. Contractor has continually lied about site conditions, permit and building status. General Steel has been little or no help in pressuring the contractor to perform. They say their contract is between the erector and General Steel, not with the end user. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a construction project. If you choose to use one of their contractors, you will be on your own. Make sure you have a complete set of stamped, engineered drawings including a foundation plan included in the price of your building.

So far Joseph has been excellent to work with. My husband explained exactly what we want, Joseph explained the pros & cons of each choice we made and we had numbers immediately. To me, the most important thing is that Joseph, unlike other company reps, DID NOT try to sell us something we dont want, he listened and respected our choices even if he did not agree they were the best option for our project. He is currently checking the stock to see how quickly we could get the building we want. Thank you Joseph for LISTENING and taking so much time in dealing with us and our garage project.

Everyone I spoke with did exactly as they said they would, they promised a quick turn around and they came through. The building was designed as specified and a truck was at the job site in just over 3 weeks, I am very happy with my decision to buy from General Steel. So far my correspondence with Lisa Trachbrodt has been very positive. The quote she gave me was right along our budget, and so we are trying to get everyone’s approval. I and the Church have all voted to proceed. But, we cannot go forward until our contractor, and lender also approve. I did some research on General Steel and found that it has very high reviews, with no complaints. For a company that’s been in business as long as you have, that speaks volumes.
