This past summer I finally decided to start going to gym, in a large part because a friend of mine offered to show me what to do. Since he used NYSC in Westchester I decided to sign up at this location (because it was close to me) and go to his during off-hours. I went in to the gym and asked to sign up for their Summer student special ($200 for May through September); even though at that point it was late June I wanted to give it a try- also because my parents were paying for it as a birthday present. When I went in the "membership consultant" assured me that the program did not run through September (he was lying) and said that rather I should sign up for the 1 year commitment as that would be only $65 a month. I told him I only wanted to go for the Summer because then I could use the one at my school for free. He told me he could sign me up for a 1 year contract at $65 a month for July and August, and then if I gave him 1 month notice he could cancel it free of charge. I eventually agreed since it was cheaper than what I had planned on spending. Well I came in a month before I planned to end and he told me that he wouldnt cancel the contract unless I had a doctors note saying I couldnt go to the gym or documented proof that I had moved 50 miles from any NYSC location. After some arguing I went home to find my copy of the contract, at which point I found out that he had given me a 2-year commitment contract to sign. Fed-up with the gyms lies and cheating I decided to "simply" pay the $250 cancellation fee. So yeah, I was a bit naive- but a wise man learns from his mistakes, and a happy man learns from the mistakes of others.

Update: I joined under their 19.99 no commitment plan and moved 6 months later so I canceled my membership and they charged me a $30 cancelation fee. I said "what happened to no commitment?" They said you arent committed, but you have to pay a fee. I said thats not no commitment. If I cancel Netflix or Spotify they dont try to stick it to me one last time. Screw this place this place is disgusting but the worst part is there is zero gym etiquette. People leave their weights all over the place, steal your bench, claim to be using 8 machines at the same time and leave their towel on some thing for half an hour and then come back expecting no one to be using it. They run out of disinfectant wipes all the time so there is nothing for anyone to wipe machine down with for days which is nasty. They will have at least 5 people working and not one of them puts the weights away that people leave out so members have to do it which is rediculous. The equipment is decent but not enough of certain things. Staff is friendly but Im not sure what it is they do other than stand there.

I have been a member here 15 years off and on. Yes, its $20.00 a month but asking for a $60 maintenance fee for the year and your machines are broken and the place stays dirty is not acceptable. This place has gone down hill and isnt even worth your $20.00 a month. You should just flush your $20.00 in the toilet. The manager of the club switches every 3 months because either they hate their job or dont do their job. They have personal training managers who should look the part but have a breast size bigger than my wife and are fat. I mean come on no guy should have boobs bigger than a women and be a fitness manager. Wow this place has gone so down hill its not even funny.

Very Stereotypical Personnel with the exception of one of the front desk woman who gave me a tour...The Gym has great equipment but the layout makes no sense...This gym should hire a manager who knows what they are doing. The price per month is ridiculous for one month at NYSC i have a member ship to Danbury Sports and Wellness and LA fitness. Finally the Guy in charge of memberships is a pest...DO NOT Submit your phone number or you will receive 3 texts a month trying to get you to enroll..even after responding asking for the texts to stop...easy solution to this is give his number out when filling out free giveaways...Wouldnt join this establishment if they paid me

Ill put it this way, I never write reviews for businesses but this one has earned it. The gym is dirty and out of date. Dust collects all around the gym and machines/free weights never seem to be wiped down. The roof leaks when it rains/snows and the AC in the summer doesnt always work. They nickle and dime you for everything but the money doesnt seem to be put back into the gym. If youre looking for a gym in the area, The Edge is modern, clean, and costs a lot less.

I happen to be a member at NYSC and I got to tell you this facility is without doubt the filthiest gym that I have ever been to. The lower level where the fee weights are located is a mess everyday. Plus on 2 different occasions my locker has been opened and cash has been taken from my wallet. I would not recommend this gym at all. But I would consider the Carmel,Ny gym ;for everything there is so totally different.

Does NYSC corporate ever have a surprise inspection of the Danbury, CT club? Club is generally not clean. Mold in mens shower stall. Sauna frequently out of service. Bathrooms dirty. Equipment poorly maintained. Staff unresponsive. Equipment out of order for days at a time. I dont understand how a "premier" club can operate like this.

NY Sports Club on Mill Plain Road is dirty and outdated. I used the gym last night, the elliptical machines steps have dirt embedded in the steps, they are not maintained or oiled. I will only continue to use this club as it is convenient but its at the level of needing to be completely renovated

This place is absolutely horrible. A rip off to say the least. If I had known I was going to have such a hard time canceling my membership I never would have signed up here. I am so happy a planet fitness came into the area. Its a breath of fresh air compared to NYSC.

I go here 1-2 times a day depending on my schedule. Its right up the road so if couldnt be more convenient for me. I love the variety of machines, free weights, UXF items and TRX. Its a simple thing but when I go to other gyms I REALLY miss the towel service.

Dirtiest club ever! Others have been clean, but the heat and AC dont work all the time making it worse! Then when I cancelled my membership, a month later they charged me my annual fee that they refused to return. Save your money and time.

The most unprofessional health club I have been to. They make it a habit of opening almost an hour late and when you call for answers they have none. I would recommend spending less money and getting better service elsewhere!!
