The Gym, as described above is gross. Half of the spray bottles to clean the machines leak sanitizer all over your hands when you use them. Several of the exercise machines are in desperate need of repair whether it be the tension on the cross trainers being out of whack, to the treadmills sounding like a car with no brake pads squeaking like crazy. All the machines are disgustingly gross, partly because of their age I assume. I dont know what they do with their yearly fee, but it certainly is NOT upgrading the equipment. I just moved to Wallingford and transferred my membership today to the Meriden facility which I must say is the complete opposite of Newington. I will be happy to never step foot in the Newington Facility again. And I would certainly tell anyone who is thinking of going there to stay away from it.

This gym is mediocre in comparison to others that Ive been a part of, but what disgusted me most was their horrible customer service. I was a member for a little under a year and wanted to cancel my membership early but had to pay a "buy out" fee, which I had no problem paying for and did. Today, two weeks after cancelling my membership, I was charged $35 which is $15 more than I would have normally payed for, for my monthly fee. I called the gym, being kind at first about it, but then the worker I talked to said, "my manager just came in and says she wants to eat her lunch first, she will call you back some time today." I left my number, but was flabbergasted by their lack of customer service. Its been two hours and I still havent heard back from them. Save your money, dont waste it on this facility.

I was with Planet Fitness for the contract terms for one year. I only went a few times because this gym was gross. When the contract was up I gave them a 30 day notice that I wanted to terminate my contract. Not only did they charge me for a second year fee, they refused to cancel my contract. I went in person to cancel, and they cant "recolect" the conversation. I contacted their customer service office, and not only did I get yelled at like I was lying I was told there is nothing they could do to give me any of the money they took out of my account after my year contract was over. I had to change my checking account. This is a definate cheap nasty gym. Definately go elsewhere, you would be MUCH more happier.

Clean, modern, Very happy and a great price. Crew is constantly cleaning both restrooms and gym floor. People (customers) consistently use the readily available cleaning towels and sanitizer after using equipment. Equipment is new and in good working order. See for yourself. My only objection is I wish theyd tone down the floor-music. Everyone has their own ear buds so no one, except the often somewhat distracted desk help, is listening to it. If the desk crew were as professional as the cleaning crew, the gym would get 5 stars. DESK CREW: Please, I cant even hear my own ear buds, go to a Dance hall if you need to dance that badly, no one wants your music but you. Have consideration for your clients.

I am giving the gym three stars only because, even tough it is a great company overall, and I love all the amenities, machines, facilities, etc., the management of this particular location needs to teach its front desk employees to smile and be generally more friendly towards their patrons. This one guy, Thomas, who seems to be the maintenance person, happened to be at the front desk one time, and he was the only employee who, at that point, had ever greeted me with a sincere, friendly, open, and warm smile. I wish he were at the front desk at all times, because that was the one time I felt welcome at the gym.

Wallet stolen from padlocked locker and staff showed no concern and did nothing to help or assist. Per police dept this is a regular occurance here so beware! It would be considerate of the management to put up a notice or sign informing the patrons of the thefts so that everyone can be alert and can report immediately any suspicious behavior to the police but they chose to do nothing. Three calls to speak to the manager went unreturned Sept 2011

The gym itself is a nice place to work out but the staff is horrible no personality and the ones that do have personality have a horrible one. They need to get rid of all of them and hire new ones. Either that or just not have anybody in there at all it would be the same thing

Im trying to quit due to lack of time and the fact that I find their front desk people very rude and not helpful at all. IF youre a young(20s and 30s) they help but if youre an older person forget it. Youre on your own.

My dad comes with me and complains about them not having enough weights for him but yet again my dads a big guy. But I love the circut and all the machines. The monthly price is great!!

Friendly staff, clean and decent equipment. It its not a lifting gym, but for basics and machines matched with cardio it is fine. Hydro massage tables are amazing.

Plenty of equipment: cardio, weights, and crossfit area. Massage chairs and beds are well maintained. Staff is friendly and keep the facility clean.

Not the friendliest gym. Staff does its job & thats it. Clean and all you need is here. Just dont expect an unsolicited smile or welcome by staff.

Staff are polite and machines are clean and functional. Best times to go are after 8 am and after 8pm to avoid the commuters

Planet fittness in general is a different style gym. Personally, I dont like it.
