Avoid this place at all costs. I brought my car in because I was hearing a loud griding sound when braking. After an hour waiting they correctly diagnosed a seized front caliper that caused the brake pad to completely wear through and the grinding I was hearing was metal on metal. I needed to replace the left caliper, pads, and rotor, and because you want even wear needed to replace the right ones too. This diagnosis was the only thing they did right. First, the prices: the quote for parts I received was 50-100% above market price. When I asked to make a later appointment so I could go get parts elsewhere, I was told "we really cant let you drive like this, its not safe" until I finally agreed to have them just complete the work. Second, the "other problems": in addition to the brakes, I was given a laundry list of other items that they recommended fixing (engine air filter, battery, fluids, etc) which I declined as I already had an appointment with my dealership the next week and figured they couldnt be any more expensive than what I was being quoted here. I brought these up with the dealership at my appointment and after checking them they confirmed that nothing needed to be done. Third, the timing: I was told two technicians could be tasked to fix my car and it would take an hour and a half. It ended up taking two and a half hours which had I known up front would have just left it there and come back instead of waiting. Most importantly, the workmanship: 5 days after having the work done, I got a brake fluid low warning. When I got it checked out, I was told there was brake fluid leaking all over the wheels because the new brakes hadnt been attached and tightened properly. On top of the outrageous cost I paid Midas to fix the brakes in the first place, I now had to pay another shop to fix what Midas didnt do right in the first place. In addition, ever since the I had the brakes replaced, I have had a squealing noise coming out of the passenger side of the car which I can only assume is going to require even further attention. Under the impression that mistakes happen and Midas would want to make ammends for their work, I contacted the shop, explained the circumstances, and asked if they would recompense me for the work to fix the leak and/or refund some of the cost for putting me and my family in a potentially dangerous situation. I was first told that they would really like to look at the car and see if there was anything they could do but I explained there was no way I was letting any of their technicians near my car after the experience I have had. I was then obtusely accused of lying, that "there is no way we can really verify that the issue was actually due to the new brakes." When I offered to bring in the receipt and description of work, I was finally told that they really wanted to make things right so they would be willing to offer me a free oil change, which, besides meaning I would have to allow them to work on my car again, was worth less than the extra cost it was to fix their mistakes in the first place. Save yourself a headache and a whole lot of cash and find somewhere else.

I had a recent experience that truly needs documentation...I was on my way to NYC, car started smoking...pulled into a gas station, no mechanic, was sent to Midas in Norwalk Connecticut...I always thought Midas was a place to change oil or brakes?? I was totally wrong TJ met me and explained what needed to be done, extremely professional...then proceeded to make a diagnostic?? (I know nothing about cars!!!) telling the mechanics what is wrong, what needs to be fixed...long story short, needed lots of work...car would not be ready right away!! I live in Stratford, a long distance..just happened that Keenan lives in Stratford, and he took me home...if that isnt service I dont know what is!! Brendan called the next day to say more work was needed; at this point I really trusted what Midas and their employees were saying...I said go ahead, do it...I spent more than I wanted, but the service, expertise and quality of work was worth it I cannot say enough about TJ, Matt the Manager, second Matt, Keenan, Brendan, and Steve for all they did for me and my car...it was service far beyond anything I have ever experienced..I will never go to another company but MIDAS!!! Thanks again fellows, I deeply appreciate how you went out of your way to take care of me. With respect Monica Dalton

I have had my car stop all of a sudden twice on me when I was driving. So I dropped my car off on Wednesday. I was sent home with a radiator cap and nothing was fixed. I wasnt even told that there would be no $110 diagnostic charge. I was relieved there wasnt, but they shouldve communicated that better. So they said at Midas they would call me after looking on discussion boards and forums for problems. When I talked to Tom on the phone, he told me to come in when the problems with the car were happening. Well, I came in Wednesday and I had car problems on Monday. Im not sure how thats not soon enough especially since I did not drive my car on Tuesday. I didnt even leave the house on Tuesday. What do I have to do to get the car fixed? Basically I was told to by Tom to wait for it to happen again. So wait for my car break down and then not even try and restart it and get into a car accident while waiting for AAA to tow me to Midas??? And I was told after doing research on my car that they would call me back...instead I had to call them??? Time is money so save yourself some valuable time and just go to your dealership. The great thing is at least Midas did recommend just going to my dealership. So now you know.

I had recently had my brakes replaced at a different Midas and while on a road trip with the family the brakes started making some noise. The shop that did them said I could go into any Midas, and I happened to be near the one in Norwalk, CT at the time, so I pulled in, loaded down with our luggage, 5 kids and their new pet hermit crabs. They got us in very quickly (especially considering it was a Saturday and I didnt have an appointment), pulled all four tires off and even the brakes off of one of the wheels. While they couldnt identify the source of the noise, they did ensure that everything was working and the car was safe to drive (which was key to me), and in the process corrected whatever the problem was as after they put everything back together the noise was gone, so problem solved. BTW, all of that and NO CHARGE. If I lived closer they would be no new go to shop, very nice (and even good with the kids), fixed the problem and didnt try to take advantage of the customer (and being 180 miles from home with a carload of stuff/kids I would have been an easy target). Integrity is rare, especially in this business, but these guys were solid. Highly recommended.

My brake light came on recently so I pulled into Midas to see if they could tell me what was wrong with my car. They said it would only take 30-45 minutes for a free estimate. After an hour, a technician told me I needed new brake pads, rotors on front and rear and calipers on the rear. I said I did not have time to do that before work and I couldnt leave my car while the work as being done, and the technican replied that they had already taken everything apart on my car to measure for parts and it would be difficult to put it back together! I was given an estimate for over $1500 for the repairs! I was essentially forced to let them do the work because it would be hard to put the old parts back, even though I specifically said I didnt want them to start work, I just wanted to know what was wrong. As I was waiting, I began looking up the part numbers on my quote and found that they were marking up the parts by over 60%! I was told that online prices dont matter. Do not take your car to this location! They will rip you off blind!
