I chose college hunks after being referred by a friend who used a branch in NJ and had a great experience. My experience with this particular branch (the one out of Stamford and Mamaroneck that is owned by Tom) was SO BAD, I wish I could give 0 stars. To start, my crew showed up with two men, when I had specifically requested three men as I have some very large and valuable furniture that I explained needed to be removed from the second floor of a craftsman style house with a winding staircase. I asked where third guy was and one of the guys told me the third guy was too hungover to work that day. They assured me they could still do the job to my satisfaction. I should have sent them away then but I was so stressed with the thought of moving, I trusted their professional ability to move my furniture. Mistake. By the end of day 1, theyd caused nearly $1000 of damage (as quoted by a local repair shop) to one of my dressers and put scratches and holes in the wall at the house I was moving out of. We got to my new apartment, without a tricky staircase, had most of the stuff moved in, when one the movers slipped down my stairs and dislocated his shoulder. At this point I called the owner. When he arrived on scene I had him attend to his injured worker but then also pointed out the damages and asked that we start a discussion of how we were going to rectify this situation. At this point I also found out the third guy had quit that morning...like, who uses a hangover as an excuse?! Anyway, Tom dismissed my concerns about the damages and said we could discuss it on Monday. It took weeks of calling and emailing to get through to him. He said he would repair the damages at $0.30/pound of the item damaged. $60 to repair $900+ worth of damages on a 200 pound, $1000 dresser? I think not. Then he offered $500. Then I told him I was filing a claim in small claims court and he agreed to pay my chosen repair shop directly. At this point I was happy. Then when the movers finally brought my dresser back from the repair shop, which was 6-weeks after my move, they damaged the wall at my new apartment. I was so sick of this company that I havent tried to press them to repair the wall at my new or old place, but I just hope I can help someone else avoid the headache of dealing with this company. My father and brother were able to get this furniture into my house the first time, with no damage, and arent even "professional movers". This was the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.

I was super disappointed in this company. I used them just for the labor in moving furniture to have my floors redone. 7 pieces of my furniture had chunks of wood or corners ruined or deep scratched. Brand new framework around my door was dented from furniture hitting it and most disappointing, my brand new refinished floors have several large scratches in them. I called to complain on teh day things were moved out and all they could offer me was an apology and that it wouldn’t happen again. I have used other movers before and they were more than capable of moving our items without scratching floors and messing up walls and woodwork. It seemed as though the guys just couldn’t handle it. It is super disappointing to have put a lot of money in remodeling a house and have everything brand new redone and to pay someone to come in and just ruin things. I had to pay additional money for a painter to fix the walls and trim work. No one ever followed up or offered any sort of formal fix or offer any sort of refund for the sloppy work.

Excellent customer service and great results. The guys arrived right on time (with a phone call to tell me they were 30 minutes away.) They quickly hauled away a lot of large bags full of clothes and other "soft" items as well as quite a few "hard" things like an ironing board and pots and pans. They also expertly prepped 3 large furniture pieces that were going to a friends place (well wrapped and padded) and delivered them within a half-hour of leaving my place. They also moved things out of the way at this second location and placed the new furniture exactly where they were asked to. I was new to the company and will definitely be using them when I relocate my office in a few weeks. I could not be more impressed with every part of the experience especially how quickly they respond to messages and their flexibility in scheduling their services. 5 stars across the board.

Terrible decision - using this company. I sooo wish I could do that move over. They did not come prepared to move everything (no garment boxes) and promised to send someone the following week to move the closet contents, and then stopped returning my calls (Paco Acevedo) and completely left me hanging. While they were loading the van a neighbor stopped in to tell me she saw one of my pictures had been broken (the glass) and I made a mental note to address it when we settled up, but then the picture just disappeared (was never mentioned or delivered). They did not take some "junk" from the new address that I had communicated and clearly labeled. I have contacted Chase Visa to contest the credit card charge and emailed the company about it and still have heard nothing. I guess this may end up in court. Buyer beware.

i would give them more stars if available. i dealt primarily with paco - every interaction was professional ,timely and positive. he came over to give me an estimate. was on time and provided the info i needed to agree to get the work done. he emailed me to confirm time of arrival then a phone call to say they are on the way. arrived 15 minutes early which was great. his two men were courteous and careful. they had to lift a 45 year old 6 ft tall commercial freezer (maybe 200 pounds or more) over my wet bar and up the stairs to get it out. no damage to walls, stairs or the bar. candidly, i thought it was an impossible job that i had wanted to do for decades and they came to the rescue. i cannot rave enough how satisfied i am. i will recommend them all my friends and neighbors. paco, thank you very much.

It was just that~~stress~free. Derrick and Princeton were awesome! Theyre exceptionally hard working, fast, efficient, very professional, super kind and were very sweet to the elderly residents who were being nosy and trying to interfere with their job! We would highly recommend them, and we will, to all our family and friends. Please let them know that they truly made our day. They made our life extremely easy and took a lot of stress and anxiety off our shoulders. Please let their supervisors and company owner know how grateful we are and how much we appreciate them.

Ive used this service twice in the last year, once with an Angies List coupon and once without. I recently moved into a smaller house and after exhausting every chance to give away or sell furniture, CHHJ turned out to be the most economical and efficient solution. The price is very reasonable and the workers have a great attitude and offer gracious customer service. Would also consider them for moving, but thats not a priority for me now.
