Ive had several haircuts with the fantastic Mindy and Im always satisfied! She is creative, efficient and very knowledgeable. The first time I went to Andre Salon (on a whim on a weekday lunch), I brought a photo of the haircut I wanted (Agent Scully, X-Files, circa 1999). What happened next convinced me that I was in the hands of a caring professional. After a couple of lifestyle questions and an in-depth look at my head (she looked at or touched my scalp, hairline, hair ends and flipped it around) Mindy explained that the look I wanted would be labor intensive with my hair type and with my admitted low-maintenance outlook, it would be difficult to maintain. She then described how my natural hair, the texture, the weight and width of the hair stands, my natural part and natural wave/curl could be taken into account to create a similar hair cut that would work for my lifestyle and look beautiful. Then, and this is huge, she asked me if I would give her suggestions a try (What? You mean she didnt just charge ahead?!). A half hour later, I couldnt believe how great I looked! Mindy was 100% right with her suggestions, and the haircut she gave me was exactly what I didnt know I wanted! It was definitely Scully-ish and allowed my natural hair type to shine through without forcing it with products and equipment. Now, I wash my hair in the morning, 2 drops of Argan Oil and air-dry. By the time I get to work on the bus, my hair is completely dry and had settled into big, loose waves. I usually leave it like this (so so easy and pretty!), but with a simple hair comb I can create a number of more formal looks. I liked Mindy so much I sent my bosslady to her and took my Mom to the Salon for a spa day when she was visiting from out of town. The staff was so friendly to us, they made her feel special and beautiful. She got a new haircut that looks awesome too! I don’t see myself going to another Salon as long as Mindy’s at Andre.

I was referred to Andre Chreky by a friend. I wrote a review already but I wanted to write another one as that one did not do justice. I have had several bad hair cuts but this one was by far the worst and I will explain how bad it was. The bad haircuts I have gotten in the past did suck but I would be able to get them fixed after three weeks of sitting on them. It has been over a month since I got this one and after already had gotten it fixed by my normal guy who is out of that it still looks awful because of how much damage he did to it. I had told him TWICE not to thin my hair or textures it. He then began to which I did not realize he was doing it. He made it so thin that he would not do what it normally does and you can see my scalp through it. The fade on the side was also awful and completely different on one side then the other. On top of this I am a professional model and rely on my looks to make a living. I have had a couple of clients point out that I did not look as good as well as other people who have seen me since and I have felt bad every day when I look at myself. To try and tell you how bad it was I would say this guy took me from being a 9 to a 6-7. Not to sound arrogant. At this point it even still looks like it will need at least another month to grow so I can look like myself again. I brought him pictures to look at. He was very insincere and fake sounding when I first met him. Clearly did not understand the importance of ones appearance for their own personal confidence as well as the fact that my appearance is how I make my living. Very low character guy of very low intelligence. Do not go to this guy or his salon.

AVOID!!!! DISHONEST SALON!!! HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!! Yes, Andre (andre ALONE) is the best hair cutter in DC. But, after ahile of regular cuts at $90 a pop, he will spend less and less time on your hair with less and less great results. When I first went, he spent half an hour (as you would expect), my last time 10 minutes for the same cut. I had to have it then redone at another salon. Then, after awhile, he will compare your ends to the top of your head to sell you on their overpriced color services, saying you "need" it, when in fact EVERYONES ends are lighter than the top of your head. The color services at Chreky are HORRENDOUS. You will read page after page after page of DESTROYED hair because they do NOT mix their colors right and it fries your hair. Then you go to Andre and he tries to convince you its in your mind. Never is money EVER offered back nor given back if you request it even when things have gone absolutely obviously wrong. This is a money making venture, with zero actual concern for clients, pure and simple. Why? Well look up the successful lawsuits against the shop (2) which has put it into bankrupcy. There is just a "culture" at some salons and at Chreky it is PURE EVIL. Look around for clients of many many years - you wont find them. They dont exist because of the above. After awhile your hair WILL be destroyed here and you will find zero concern for your situation

Wax Queen, Adrienne, is DCs best kept secret- She is the best! I needed a last minute appt on a Friday!. I thought I would take a chance on this salon and the location is perfect on K street - the circulator stops right in front. I loved the interior immediately - a vintage DC row house -renovated beautifully. The front desk was very nice and fit me in to see Adrienne for a Brazilian. She is tiny, energetic and very easy to talk to - esp when it comes to talking about wax preferences. She is a true professional and offered lots of great advice and made me feel immediately comfortable. I had the best Brazilian wax ever and will be going here from now on (hope Fridays dont book all the way up). Adrienne immediately put me at ease, told me not to get shy on her as she has done literally thousands of wax jobs and presto, she was done in a matter of minutes. Seriously NO PAIN - NO BUMPS - really an excellent job. It might not always be as easy as this but she is very professional, very thorough and very fast with great results!

Horrendous! Getting my haircut at Chreky is one of the stupidest things I have done in a while (yes, I basically just called myself stupid, it was that bad). First I was instructed to go into a closet to "scrounge around for a smock" to put on and then to "go to the back to find someone" to wash my hair. Seriously? I should have left then and there. The person who washed my hair took twice as long as the person who actually cut it. I was asked if I wanted a glass of water twice, I answered "yes" twice, and I never actually received it. My haircut took literally 5 minutes and it felt as though nothing had been done. It was uneven, and parts of it seemed untouched. When she finished with the cut, the hairdresser said that if I really wanted to, she could blow-dry my hair or she would let me sit in the dryer chair. Isnt that her job? Sorry to inconvenience you by having you dry my hair!! This 15 minute ordeal cost $80. $80!!!!! My hair isnt that long either - about shoulder length. It turns my stomach whenever I walk by...
