I had a bad experience with management at this gym yesterday. I was working out with a friend of mine and management (PAM) accused me of being a trainer. (Planet fitness doesnt allow outside trainers). What bothered me was the fact that I was working out with someone and covered in sweat and still the manager Pam wouldnt listen to any of the evidence I gave her that I was resting between sets while my friend did her sets. She claimed that she sat there and watched me and I wasnt doing anything but instructing. If that were the case, how does one explain me sweating through my shirt in a cold gym?! No matter what evidence I provided to the manager Pam, she was cognitively dissonant and wouldnt believe me. I didnt know two people couldnt workout together or you couldnt take a break while the other person does their set.

These guys owe me at least $483 and are continuing to charge me for the service after I cancelled 1 year ago and have called, emailed, and asked for confirmation on cancelling the service at least a dozen times. I just put a block on my credit card and charged back two months which is all I can do at this point, but I would encourage you all to be vocal about this and make sure you tell your friends about this. Planet Fitness, I really enjoyed your gym, but this is incredibly shady and bad business practice. You cannot continue to charge somebody who actively cancelled a year ago.EDIT: They did finally come back and hook it up with me, so I am changing my rating but I still dont think I should have had to go through all of that. The gym itself was pretty great - loved the classes - they kicked my bootie.

Exceptional, even more so given the price! 1. Equipment is kept clean and maintained much better than much more expensive gyms Ive been to. 2. For how busy it gets, its remarkably clean even in the locker room. Cleaning crew definitely takes pride in their work, and it shows. 3. Mostly friendly front desk staff. Negatives 1. Parking is a nightmare at night. Parking garage closes at 10pm so ... good luck getting in if your car is parked there. Hunt down security, or patiently wait for a Hecht resident to walk through the doors. 2. Gym lacks some equipment and weights, such as adjustable barbells for deadlifts and calf exercises.

Fantastic staff! I have never been to a gym where the staff was so helpful and took such pride in their job in creating a comfortable place to workout. The gym is SOOOO clean which I value a lot. They not only regularly wipe down the portions of machines that customers regularly touch for spread of germs but also all other parts of the machine. The management and staff are very friendly and helpful in assisting customers. The trainer on staff supports customers and pays close attention to their form as they are working out...inquires about any injuries etc. I cant recommend this gym enough!

AWESOME!!!!! When I first started coming to this location I weighted about 280 pounds , I lost 80 pounds ,within 6 months. With the help of my fitness trainer Dara and healthy eating (GREEN MACHINE) !!!. Great customer service!! Everyone on the staff was friendly, and provided in-depth detail of each membership options. The facility was clean, and the cleaning supplies (to wipe down equipment after each workout ) are always available!!! FREE PARKING , For the FIRST 2 HOURS (BONUS) !!! BLACK CARD MEMBERSHIP HAVE AWESOME PERKS, My favorite is the UNLIMITED use of the Hypo-Massage Bed!!

Clean location. But the staff and management hv been incompetent handling issues u bring to them. An incident occurred where I yelled away some gay wierdo who propped open my shower stall but the staff had no clear policy on handling d issue and were too timid to handle d matter. Poor customer service from Pam the manager who rather than apologize such incident occurred on property was questioning whether or not d incident occurred. Some staff here can be very belligerent instead of helpful. Lack of skill in handling both simple or complex and delicate issues.

They have a great variety of workout equipment!!!The staff are pretty cool and tend to be regular people who you can relate to not overly judgemental jocks intent on remaking you or breaking you .Although i would say that the workers uninterested demeanor helps me feel free to be me but it wouldnt hurt for them to take some interest in offering assistance just to show they have some concerns about me other than opening lockers when asked. Sorry Im not complaining i just tend to be a bit wordy and over oppinionated but thats just me

I had come to terms with the fact that I was joining a gym that gifts its members with pizza parties, but when I was asked to stop jump roping I couldnt handle it. I had the Black Card membership and was looking forward to the amenities it offers, but not being able to jump rope as a form of cardio was just too ridiculous for me to handle. I would have been happy to do it tucked away in a corner so that no one would accidentally run into my rope. Very disappointed that a gym would discourage someone from getting fit.

The Planet Fitness off of New York Ave is one of the cleanest ones Ive been in yet. They have a lot of equipment to satisfy everyone even during the peek times. And all of the workers are very kind and dont have any problem explaining anything to you. The last time I went I wanted to try the Total Body Enhancement and the employee showed me exactly what to do, how it was used, why people used it, and gave advice on when and how long.

Decent gym, OK equipment for what you pay for, but TERRIBLY managed. If you cant get an AC back up and running the same day it goes out, you need to have more than one fan. If youre going to let the AC be out for nearly a week and counting, you need to do SOMETHING to make those who pay for a membership more comfortable. Its overheated, stinks of sweat, and in 5 days the management has only managed to rustle up one small fan.

Im happy with location, price, & equipment but I am dissatisfied with a few things. The equipment always has dust and filth on it. Staff are supposed to clean down machines DAILY at planet fitness but do not here. Also, the only parking available is a parking garage and if you go over 2 hours, you pay $4. They do NOT validate parking so I end up going home to shower.

THERE ARE BETTER GYMS THAN THE NEW IVY CITY ONE FOR ONE THE LOCKERS IN LOCKER ROOM HAVE NO PADLOCKS ON THEM INSTEAD THERE IS A NOB THAT LOCK IS WITH A 4 DIGIT COMBO BY MOVING 4 DIGITS AROUND ON THE NOB MAKING IT EASY FOR ANYONE TO STEAL YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS UNACCEPTABLE BEWARE OF THIS WHEN YOU GO TO THIS GYM I WOULD HATE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU

The gym is still very new--nice facilities and generally very clean and well kept. They dont do a great job making sure the areas are used correctly (ie some people dont cycle through the 30 minute workout and clog up the cycle) and the neighborhood is still extremely transitional, but for the price and the free parking, Im a fan.
