The gym is suppose to open at 5 am. On various occassions I showed up at the gym only to wait for 20-30 minutes for the gym to open. When I complained to Melissa, the manager, she said that sometimes the person who opens up oversleeps. I told her to hire someone else and recommended that she come in to ensure the gym was opened on time. I guess managers dont do that. For those of us who muster up the energy to be at the gym at 5 am, at least have something there to open it. I tried to get my membership canceled due to "false advertisement" because I only joined this gym based on the hours of operation. I choose this gym over another because the other gym didnt open until 6 am. Melissa was very unprofessional and rude in her handling of this situation. After promising to cancel my membership, she changed her mind. At that point, I transfered my membership to the other Golds Gym located in downtown Silver Spring, which opens ON TIME every day. This location is cleaner, bigger, more professionally run and never crowded. At the Industrial Parkway location, the gym and the classes are always overcrowded. I complained to Melissa that the showers were dirty and they smell like mold and mildew and the problem wasnt fixed. The locker room is so small that you literally dont have a place to sit and get dressed and they are always crowded. The showers (they only have 3) always have settling water in them due to a drainage problem. I complained to Melissa but nothing happened. They only have 2 sinks so its hard to wash your face without waiting in line. Lights are always out over the vanity so you cant apply makeup that well. The gym is poorly designed, poorly sanitized and poorly managed. Because the focus is on getting more money, and not addressing problems at the gym, they continue to build their membership without expanding the size of the gym. I would not encourage anyone to join this gym but instead opt for the much bigger, less crowded, and CLEANER downtown Silver Spring location.

I AM A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. I JOINED LAST YEAR ON JUNE 28TH AND ATTENDED ONLY FOR 2 MONTHS BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE IT. I DID NOT LIKE THE VIBE AT THAT GYM. THEY OFFER ME A HOUR TRAINING OR ORIENTATION WHAT EVER THEY CALL IT.. THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO SCHEDULE IT, THEY SCHEDULE ME WITH ONE OF THEIR FEMALE EMPLOYEES AND WHEN I SHOWED UP THE LADY DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEA I WAS COMING, THIS LADY IS A PERSONAL TRAINER AND SHE SAID THAT NO ONE TOLD HER AND THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT PERSON THEY NEEDED TO SCHEDULE ME WITH. SO WE STARTED ON THE WRONG FOOT. I DECIDED TO JOIN ORANGE THEORY WHICH IS $169.00 PER MONTH ON TOP OF ME PAYING FOR A HOLE YEAR $29.99 AT FITNESS EVOLUTION. ON MAY 21 I CALLED AND I TOLD THE GUY AT THE FRONT DESK I WANTED TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP. HE PULLED UP MY INFORMATION AND TOLD ME IF I COME IT TO THE FACILITY BY JUNE 28TH I CAN CANCEL IT AND I WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO PAY. HE FAILED TO TELL ME I NEED TO GO IN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO GIVE THEM NOTICE THAT I WAS CANCELLING. WHEN I GOT THERE ON 06/28/2017 I WAS GIVEN CONTRADICTING INFORMATION FROM WAS I WAS PREVIOUSLY TOLD.. I WENT TO THE SILVER SPRING FACILITY AND THE SHORT GUY WITH THE COLORED HAIR HELPED ME, EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE UNTIL HE TELLS ME I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR JULY! WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY. I WAS NOT TOLD. I WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE GYM IN MAY TO GIVE NOTICE IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD. SO I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER, IN A RUDE WAY HE SAID "YOU ARE SPEAKING TO HIM, I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A HIGHER LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT, HE SAID HE WAS THE ONE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED !! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO FITNESS EVOLUTION!! THE STAFF SUCKS. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. NO SYMPATHY OR EMPATHY TOWARDS CUSTOMERS.

I was originally a member when it was Olympus but moved over to Sport and Health when my job location changed. Came back to Golds about 3 years ago when the S&H closed in White Oak. Golds facility is "ok" but what is most aggrevating is that they will not handle billing issues over the phone. I got tired of not having calls returned and having to take off work to come in to talk with management about billing and account issues. I cancelled my membership a month ago after this happened once again and just found my checking account sacked again. They say need to give 30 days notice and I only gave 28 or 29 days notice because I cancelled the day after I saw I my checking account was misbilled last month. Not a healthy way to treat customers. Fortunately they are not a utility and there are other more healthy options available.

I wish I was able to give them zero stars. Worst gym ever!! Do yourself a favor and stay away. Dont waste your money at this horrible establishment. My car got broken into on a Sunday afternoon and the staff could careless. My car windows were shattered and my wallet was taken. None of the cameras are pointed towards the parking lot. I canceled my membership and the staff member didnt even bat an eyelash when I told him why I was canceling. They have the nerve to call me later saying my last months payment didnt go through and want to charge me an extra $15 since my card was declined. Of course it declined, the card you had on file was the card that was stolen. Worst experience ever! They dont care about customers at all. I have attended that gym for years and I regret wasting my money away at this establishment.

club looks good intially but once you stay a while you discover it is really mediocre. Primarily it suffers from poor management, getting by because it is sort of the only game in town. Which leads to the 2nd biggest problem....it is seriously oversold. It is a good size and has a range of equipment but the place is always crowded and the equipment is well used (read-old and ready for replacement). If you lyou can avoid this place do. For example, if you live closer to downtown silver spring, do not even consider this place. Go immediately to LA Fitness. If you are in northern silver spring, you are sort of stuck with nothing. There is a nice little place in Cloverly-but it is really designed for personal training vs. as a full service gym.

My issues are with the childcare staff (if you want to call them that) at the gym. There are very young staff members working there, who are often on their phones, and too distracted (one girl by the newborn she had recently who she brings to work with her), to watch other kids in the gym. Within the last two weeks I have had two incidents where my daughter was injured, and the staff members either didnt see what was going on, or werent watching well enough to prevent an incident. I am very displeased with the child care staff, the gyms policies regarding child care, and the lack of attention they give to this area. Seriously considering canceling my membership.
