I have a bit of an issue... Actually a lot a bit of an issue, with Pep Boys on Northlake BLVD in Lake Park, FL. Ive always trusted them over the years with vehicles and frankly... I never should have now that Ive seen the reviews and been screwed around by their service manager. Shortly before Luke was born we took the Vindicator in to be checked out because we noticed her electrical was flickering. They were quick to diagnose her with a bad alternator and we kind of shook our heads and agreed to shell out over $800 for the alternator to be replaced. No sooner did we leave the lot than her lights began flickering again so we turned around, pulled back in, and they sent the guy out who was working on her to figure out the problem. A loose coupling. No biggie. Everything was tightened down and we went on our way. Only... She threatened to die before we reached I-95 and we were getting ready to drive to St Louis THAT DAY. We went back... They tested the alternator, and it was SHOT. Turns out we paid for a NEW alternator and they stuck a refurbished one in there that the giant beast of a truck ate for breakfast. They tried to get us to take a lesser alternator that didn[t have a lifetime warranty just to get us out of their hair. We said "No way" and made them go to another store to grab the part. At that same visit for the initial electrical inspection, we had them check the trucks AC (hadnt been working since we bought her) and the brakes. We KNEW they were semi-metallic truck brakes, but the squeaking didnt seem consistent with semi-metallic brakes and we were prepared to replace them as well because safety and brake pads are cheaper than rotors and or accidents. We were told that the brakes were fine and had 75% life left on them, that the squeaking was normal with semi-metallic brakes. No rotor issues, no caliper issues, clean bill of brake health all around. Flash forward 11,000 miles of driving, 8,000 of those being highway with NO stop and go. The truck is GRINDING at a stop, gets taken into Meineke because the nearest Pep Boys is in Michigan or south in Indianapolis. Meineke writes the inspection up and is telling us our rotors are warped and scarred, its metal on metal, and were eyeballing a $900 bill to fix everything. Called Ford, Ford concurs. We call the service manager that told us we had 75% life left on brakes that last, on average, 60k miles. He tells us that "it depends".. No. No it doesnt. Not unless there was a partially stuck caliper that his team missed or Ford missed during her recent inspection that was conducted less than 30 days ago. They refuse, at the store level, to do ANYTHING. Were now waiting over a week to hear back from the district manager and driving the truck less than 20 miles has now resulted in the brakes critically failing with a line rupture due to heat and warping. The truck is now at Ford and we have Ford CERTIFYING that the damage is all because of the brakes being metal on metal. FORD states that theres no way in hell we went through 75% brake life in 11,000 miles. Pep Boys is REFUSING to do ANYTHING and is saying theyre denying our claim. They keep having the service manager, Jeffery Torres, call us to tell us that fact. No escalation. He keeps closing the case with NO resolution. We contacted a lawyer, contacted Channel 25 (WPBF) in West Palm, and filed a BBB complaint. My husband is a Navy combat veteran who served our country for 14 years to keep this country free to allow your company to do business, and this is how you thank him?! Nearly killing him?! Leaving he and his family stranded?! SHAME!

1st I must say thank you for the great support to not just certain individuals but to everyone at the store. Incredible service provided overall. The biggest thank you goes to Jim. I gotta hand it to this guy, he went above and beyond in assisting me. Making sure that I got the right part from Toyota, once it arrived, he installed it, then taking my car out for multiple spins to make sure I was back in tip top shape. Hands down I will be returning back to this guy for every and all future work. Thanks mate. Nicole - Exceptional customer service. From answering the phone to in person assistance she is your go to girl. Definitely want drop by Nicole with any questions or concerns about your vehicle shell get you taken care of. Leonard - Not much interaction with him. But did his best to assist me. Friendly courteous. Dy - I remember his name. But cant remember how to spell his darn name. Just remember the first two letters. General store manager. Much thanks goes to this guy. Not only he do a price match for me with Tire Plus, he also gave me a 10% discount on me getting all of my work done at his store. All in all, Im not complaining. Got a new set of tires, new struts installed and 15 Camry is back on the road rolling again. Im looking to trade my car in next year. Ill defiantly be bringing my car here Jeff & Pierre - These 2 are a combo pack. Cant be beat anywhere hands down. Their teamwork rivals Batman and Robin. Took the time in calling Toyota to hunt down the part I needed for my car. After doing that they got me a couple of brand new tires at a phenomenal price. Firestone just lost me as a customer. Im sticking with these guys and I recommend anyone reading this to do the same.

Terrible mechanics who will try to insult your intelligence. Signed up for the pep boys rewards program for free because I saw that it offered a free check light engine service as wheel as free tire rotations and air if ever needed. Thought that could maybe come in hand one day. My wifes car needed air one day but her hubcap had covered the valve stem for air so instead of having to remove myself, I figured I would just take it there so they could handle it for me and fill up the air and correctly put the hubcap on for me. When I got to the shop and asked for air they told me they refused do it for me because my tires has nitrogen in them. I told him that its okay to mix the two and he then began to say it would damage the tires. If he knew what he was talking about - instead of just being lazy and not wanting to fill up the tires - he would realize that air is 80% nitrogen by composition and that it mixing is perfectly fine. Do it all the time - wife gets tires at Costco where they only add nitrogen....you think you could only top-off with nitrogen air? Dont be silly. So anyways, he reluctantly decides to fill my air. He finished topping off air in the tires and and when i left, i decided to to stop at the gas station and check with my own tire preesure gauge. The guy decided to actually release air in all tires. I told him to put 30 psi in all tires and these were the measurements: 29, 22, 27, and 20. They will purposefully try to hurt your vehicle when you outsmart them.

I would give this location a 0 star is possible. I had a service vehicle towed to this location due to a breakdown on the highway. They quoted me the following.. New transmission Motor mounts Torque converter Hose clamps Thermostat Flywheel Water pump Coolant exchange Transaxle assembly Plus several miscellaneous charges totaling 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!! They wouldnt even tell us over the phone if the engine would run. I obviously tell them to screw off and that we are getting a transport company to pick up the vehicle. I got the vehicle towed to a shop in tampa and what do you know..ALL THE VEHICLE NEEDED WAS A FLYWHEEL AND OIL CHANGE!!!! The vehicle runs as good as new and it only cost us 600 dollars. People should go to jail for trying to screw customers this way. I will never give any pep boys business again for as long as I live thanks to this location. Good job losers. UPDATE*** I do not accept your pathetic generalized apology. Lucky for us we have many spare service vehicles so that we do not have to be victimized by scum like you. How many small family business owners have you caused damage to due to your greed. One scam like this on a single operator can be the difference between feeding their family or insolvency. You should issue a sincere public apology for your fraudulent and detrimental actions to the community. P.s. I want my diagnostic fee back.
