Called and got a quote to rebuild a TH200-4R for my 68 Cutlass build, and was met with eagerness. The next conversation from them was to hear them tell me how weak those Trans are, and that they cost a lot to build, and even then they wont last, and so they wouldnt offer a warranty. So they offered me a TH350 for a reasonable price, which I said okay to. I figured I will take my time and build the 200 myself later. Then it comes time to pay for the TH350 and they try to tell me they dont want to accept credit/debit because of the fees are so high to process card payments. After I tell them I would like to cancel the order, they decide to accept credit/debit as payment. I get the Trans home to inspect it, and find that there was no "shift kit" modifications performed, like I requested and paid for. He specifically stated that they used a B&M kit. There were no signs of any brand kit having been installed. I also found that the valve body had not been cleaned. It still had decades of sludge built up on it. I currently have the valve body apart and being cleaned, as well as installing a Superior Fairbanks Shift Kit. Ah, I suppose a shift kit was installed - I found a piece of wood in the 1-2 Accumulator, lol. I generally do not trust the work of others, and unfortunately this experience supports that feeling. I typically do all my own work, however, this time I was short on time and space to work, so I thought Id try and trust a shop. Sadly, this goes to show that you cant find trustworthy mechanics. I was hoping to trust them to rebuild the rear end of the Cutlass, but they wont get my business again. I wont be an irrational customer and say they cant do anything right, but I will say that you should double check the work they perform. I invite them to contact me if they feel this review was not warranted.

These guys are GREAT. I have a 72,000 mile extended warranty on my car that I purchased at the time I purchased my car. Last week when I had 71,931 miles on my car ... guess what ... the transmission malfunctioned. Jay went into battle with the Extended Warranty Company, because they only wanted to authorize a $700.00 "junk yard" transmission, to save themselves money. But Jay stayed in the battle ... my transmission was rebuilt by Jay and his staff and my car runs great. Jay and his staff are trustworthy and very customer service oriented and I would and WILL recommend these guys to anyone that has a transmission issue or any type of mechanical issue (they are a full service repair center). Jay THANK YOU for having the integrity to look out for my interest and not taking the easy way out. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!! ... Michael (Panama City)

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. They are completely unprofessional. I was cussed out like I was a dog over the phone by one of their employees. They will rip you off entirely. I did research on the businesss owners because they owed me money and honest to God I discovered that they are notorious for moving around the country and accruing MASSIVE amounts of debt. They have MANY judgments against them. There is no way possible that I would recommend their business to anyone, nor would I recommend any other business doing any business with them. ESPECIALLY if it involves anything other than them handing cash to you directly at the time the service is provided to them. Even then, I would check it to make sure it is not counterfeit.

Gears screwed me over. They told me they could fix my transmission and work a payment plan out with me, I gave them $700 up front (every penny to my name) and I was supposed do payments weekly. After they kept my car for two weeks they finally told me they cant fix it, and then refused to give me my money back! They gave me $200 back and told me I could do a shop credit. Havent heard from them since and honestly they stole $500 from me. So I think its a bunch of criminals working there and I will never recommend that shop to anyone. I will tell anybody to stay as far away from that place as possible. Thanks for stealing $500 from me.

So there isnt very many transmission dealers around, and we have a Mini Cooper that needed a new clutch. This isnt an easy job and we wanted to ensure wherever we went had the right mechanic at the right price...Gears delivered both! We were impressed by the clean and organized shop, military & college student discount, the lifetime warranty on labor, and NAPA warranty to boot. They turned the car on the schedule promised and even sent us videos of the procedure along the way. Its only day 1, but so far I am a satisfied customer and they have earned my return business. I love this place! I had some transmission trouble with my 2010 Mazda. I took it to Gears and they diagnosed it for free. I was treated like family and they had me back out on the road the next day. Fair prices and a lifetime warranty. Sometimes being a woman has its disadvantages, dealing with mechanics is one of those situations. I didnt want to get ripped off. I thankfully spoke with Katie, the owner, and she was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and kind. My three year old even loved her! If you want someone you can trust, go to Gears! They have earned a lifetime customer!

They worked with me on paying for my vehicle before getting it fixed. They actually kept it in their yard while I got the money to pay for it. Very friendly owner. Was a pleasure dealing with gears. Need work done theyll work with you. Very professional people. Though they worked with me to pay for my truck when i took it back to have the shifter cable replaced i was given an outlandish price of 269.00 for the cable to the and 300.00 for labor. I bought the part OEM replacement from AC DELCO for 60.00 and replaced it myself in about 3 hours. Dont get ripped

Very good service and their activities really fantastic. Ive been using this service for quite a few years. Best price around for the best Quality ..The selection is great , the prices are better. Gears Transmissions & Auto Repair guys was fantastic - courteous, efficient, and got the job done at a fraction of the cost or buying a new or rebuilt transmission, which is what I was told were my only options. Their guys really knows their stuff and is a genuinely nice person.
