Beware of the personal training services. I should have paid attention to a review by Tom Noden 11 months ago. My experience was the same. Heres the story - My wife and I signed up for a prepaid training package without doing a session to try the place out. We told them of specific injuries we had, and we said that we were looking for training that didnt just involve circuits of machines. We wanted functional, body weight training. Weve done machines before and while it may be effective, it wouldnt really excite us and get us motivated to come back. Steve and Raquel assured us that that is not what they do. So we paid for the package, scheduled a session only to find none of that information was transferred to our trainer who started us on a very rushed 35 minute orientation to the machines. On future sessions we tried to take a step back and tell our trainer again, what we were looking for, but machines seemed to be the focus, although she tried to change a few things. A second trainer was better, but by then, we were ready to be done. And 35 minutes just seems rushed. I asked Steve, for a partial refund since we had used only a few sessions, but Steve said no way. A call to the central office reiterated this position. Note that if you DONt prepay, but do monthly billing you are NOT responsible for the whole amount if you cancel. Go figure. Well, lesson learned. I had previously used Tasso in Ormond Beach, when I lived there. They had a much more professional approach, with very well trained staff, and well defined philosophy. The opposite of this place

I am happy with the gym and with the personal trainer I have right now. Before I was with another personal trainer that yelled to me and also said that he was the boss there. I really don"t think so since I am the one paying for his job. He is just a joke. Then, I cancelled all the previous appointments with him online without any short notice because he did not deserve any explanation. After that I switched for another personal trainer that is 100% more professional than the first joke unprofessional one. The one I have now always ask me what I want to do and even compliment me after the training. I am seeing big improvements right now after I switched the personal trainer. My advice: if you do not like your personal trainer just go to someone at the front desk and request to change for another one. Remember you are the one who is paying for your training. The five stars goes for the gym and my second personal trainer, not the first joke personal trainer.

Marc is a good person to deal with at LA; hes the operations manager I believe. Awesome equipment and its pretty big, lots of floor space. Basketball courts are nice and always pretty clean. Much cleaner than the YMCAs courts. Sauna is bigger and hotter than the YMCAs Sauna. Nothing against the YMCA, I love them, but cant help but notice the small differences that make a big difference to me. Cleanliness and proper maintenance means a lot to me. One down side, LA is little overwhelmingly busy after 5pm. I usually go early in the AM around 5 am and dont have those issues, plus I prefer mornings. It would be nice if they would add on; add more machinery to compensate for the surplus of people, but Im sure thats a dream that will probably never be fulfilled.

I was told when I signed up that I would have a trainer. I was not told that it would be a quick one time deal. There is a bowl on the counter at the entrance that says 3 Free Training sessions Sign Up. I did and then received an email that I had "won" 1 Free session. I set it up with the trainer, but received a call the morning of the session from the trainer saying that he didnt realize that I had already had my assessment. They are only interested in selling training sessions Today I went there & asked Raquel to show me the exercises she showed to mr when I signed up for the membership. She told me that I cant use the TRX, which is what she showed me exercises on. Only if you have a trainer can you use it. None of this is said when they sign you up.

Went to start a membership today walked up to the front desk and it looks like it was a chore for the front desk person to stand up and greet me once he did he rudely told me that I could not join because the membership team wasnt there for another hour talk about not caring letting a potential customer walk out your doors is not a good way to do business if this is any taste of the staff at LA fitness no thank you, I actually went back an hour later to talk to the membership team and once again the same person stood up and looked like I was an alien when I said hi is there a membership team person there for me to talk to he grunted at me and said go talk to Mark how my supposed to know who Mark is or where he is this person needs a lesson in customer service

Its always very busy, wether you go in the morning or the evenings. Its clean but a few issues I have are: 1. The wi-fi either doesnt work or works poorly. I have no reception in the building and it would be nice if I had wi-fi access to listen to music while working out or text when I need to. 2. The juice/protein bar isnt open, it would be nice if they were open. They make it a selling point when selling you the membership. 3. Its busy, very busy. Since its one of the larger & cleaner gyms in the area it seems everyone uses it. Forget trying to workout between 8AM-1:00pm & 4-8pm those are the peak times. Even then you will often see people there working out for what must be hours but I think theyre mostly socializing.

I have never written a review, but after reading a few, felt required to counter what I read. LA Fitness is clean, and kept cleaned by a caring staff. The staff and trainers seem to possess adequate knowledge for the facility and proper training, from form to training program development at all levels. The best part of LA Fitness is their wide spectrum of clients training at all levels. This allows you to be able to develop a program for whatever your needs are at the time. Is it perfect no, is their any better in the area- no. Your money is well spent here!
