I was torn between 2 or 3 stars. If it werent so horrifically crowded, this would be a great gym. I grew up working out here and despite the population at least tripling and being located right next to one of the largest universities in the country, LA fitness has not built any new locations. As such, the gym has become more and more horrifically crowded. You will not be able to get a decent workout in after 3 or so on weekdays. And it stays crowded until at least 10:00 pm. The gym has (for some insane reason) also not extended its operating hours to at least 11 pm. You might think that you could squeeze in a workout before or after the peak times but there is a core of young weight lifters/bodybuilders from UCF/the local high schools/the surrounding area that works out in those times, and they almost constantly have the squat racks and other equipment taken. Also, there are a lot of high schoolers that work out here and a few kids. That being said, any gym in the area will be crowded, and sadly LA fitness is cheap and still the best option. Theres no way in hell I would go to a planet fitness. They basically have a monopoly. The staff here are generally nice, except for corporate. Everyone knows that LA fitness corporate are scam artists, its almost impossible to cancel your membership. Anytime I have tried to bring a guest, they have harassed my guest and embarrassed me a few times. I understand trying to sell memberships and having a sales pitch but Ive been a member here for at least 7 years. Despite only bringing a guest a handful of times. Also they didnt seem to honor guest passes. That being said, if youre reasonable they will work with you. Management has gotten better lately. The gym is generally fairly clean. During peak times it gets dirty because most of the douches do not understand what it means to rack weights or wipe off equipment but thats expected anywhere, it isnt that bad. After 10 years of operating they replaced a lot of the equipment recently and the new equipment sucks. The old ab equipment was much better. If youre only looking to do cardio or a class, they have some awesome classes and you almost never have to wait for cardio equipment. Classes will be crowded at times but it isnt that bad. The pool/hot tub are barely used. Sauna is usually fairly clean as well. Considering I only have to pay $25 a month, this really isnt that bad of a gym. It could be improved by them building a second LA fitness close by. There are a lot of nice people here, especially the older former world gym crowd. I usually just get in, work out, and leave so Im not super social but a lot of people are. Theres volleyball on wednesday nights. The one thing I dont understand is why there are so many raquetball courts, corporate made a mistake with that design.

Sadly one can not negatively rate this facility. The employees here only care about playing on their cell phones as they are constantly on them and plugged in so not to run out of charge. They do not care about patrons and have some of the most surly and disrespectful employees I have ever come across. Recently the got a new heater in the pool which has lead to the pool being consistently over the temperate range they say the are to keep it in (82-84) it is typically 2-3 degrees warmer. They never address the issue except to lie that it within range. When asked if the temp monitor could be broken they become negative and aggressive saying its the right temp. The locker rooms are constantly filthy and you are lucky to not get sprayed with a variety of unknown cleaners as the janitorial staff has no concern of your personal belongings and will spray chemicals all over them. A few weeks ago there were no paper towels to be found in the entire gym! Disgusting! This location needs to have corporate come in and clean house both for overall cleanliness and for the terrible employees that only care about their cell phones, eating on the floor and not caring about anyone unless youre some underdressed trollop dancing around exposed to solicit yourself to the lazy employees that then will get off their phones. This place is a joke no professionalism and no cares! The overweight sales men are constantly reaching their hands down the back of their pants to tuck in their shirts, maybe they should invest in some larger clothes to fit their portly figures and shirt stays so they can keep their hands out of their pants. This practice is disgusting and I highly doubt these individuals wash their hands on any sort of regular basis thus potentially spreading fecal matter and associated bacteria with it.

Horrible customer service at the front desk. Here is my story: They entered my last name incorrectly(my last name is three letters) on my account when they had my ID with them upon sign up. I went back to the front desk, and wanted to change my name. They said They do not have the authority to change it, so they directed me to the website where I "supposedly" could change my last name, and if it did not work on the website I could come back and have them fix it (But they cant fix it when I was there now). They would not let me do it on their many computers that were not in use. So, I went home created an online account with La Fitness, and turned out that I could not change my name through the website at all. I drove back to La Fitness like they directed me to, and told them that I could not change my name on line. They told me only their manager can make the change, and the manager was not working at the moment (9-5 Monday to Friday). So I still cannot change my last name and they still cannot change it for me. Very upset with this experience. I also wanted to cancel my membership with them because of this experience, but I could not do that either because they did not have the authority to do so. Terrible customer service, uneducated employees, lack of care for the customer.

At first I was excited about switching from Planet Fitness to this LA Fitness because I wanted to participate in group exercise (which Planet Fitness does not have). I mainly joined for the spin classes. I was disappointed that this particular gym location has really outdated equipment and the spin room is really tiny and REALLY hot once a class has started. You might be lucky if the sound system works for your class. I held on to my membership because I was able to go to any LA Fitness and I travel a lot. There is an LA Fitness in Hollywood, FL that is amazing! The spin bikes are incredible! Sad to say I got spoiled while visiting south Florida and even more disappointed when I had to go back to my home gym. I am a UCF student so I finally canceled my membership here (which was a nightmare) and started going to spin classes at school. The bikes are nicer and the classes are full of people more my age (overall the feel of the class was just more upbeat). Even though getting into a UCF spin class is more difficult as the spots fill up almost as soon as the session is posted online, it sure is better than going to a run down, beat up gym. Sorry LA Fitness, for as much as this gym charges it should be sparkling new....
