So this is a review I should have done about 7 months ago. However, I forgot. Okay, so we purchased a home in Tampa and found out after moving in that our plumbing was shot. We called Benji on a Friday and they sent out their salesman and a tech. The salesman and tech told us that we would need to have the whole house re-plumbed and gave us three options to get it done. We went with the first and least expensive ($6,000.00) and paid before the work was completed. We were in a bind because we were desperate for a shower, and running water. Our salesman assured us that our water would be back on before Monday and that his crew would work through the weekend to get us set up. That was really all we cared about. So the next day, our plumber comes out with a high school kid doing his internship (no crew showed up just one guy and a kid). They surveyed the situation and told us they would be back on Monday to start work - When I asked about having it done over the weekend, he assured me that they do not work weekends and I would be waiting - Awesome! So Monday comes and we are with one Tech and our high schooler again, still no crew... They begin work and dig the trench around our house and start to re plumb using cpvc pipe. The only way through to a bath in our master bed is a tight attic space. This kid, who is the smallest of the two, is elected to run the pipe. I tell them to just cut a hole in my ceiling in the hall and that would make it easier and I could add an attic access. However, against my suggestion they go through the bedroom and of course this kid falls through the ceiling! Luckily, he was not hurt but I still have a damaged ceiling that was never completely fixed! WTF... Moreover, the work was bad. I had to go behind and cut old copper pipes that they just left sticking out of the walls. And they attached their pipes to my cabinets, so when I go to replace the cabinets (we are renovating our house) I will have to remove the backs from the cabinets just to get the plumbing through the back... Okay so our tech did work hard, and stayed late, he also installed a 50 gallon hot water tank at no additional charge (they had a dented unit that they put in), those are the positives. However, the work was supposed to be completed, this is now Wednesday, our water was still not working.. so Thursday rolls around and now the big boss comes out, our original salesman, and another plumber to get the issue fixed. We were told that since our plumbing was not done when they said, we would get a free ac tune up, and they would send out someone to clean our house - Show of hands who thinks any of that ever happened. Turns out that our original plumber had done some shoddy work, and the new plumber spent some time going back and fixing the work, and bringing it up to code. Would I use Benjamin again - With the amount of money I spent, and the promises that were never kept and the damage that they did to my home; No! I would absolutely not use these guys again!

After dinner, I had tried to put a substantial amount of food through the disposal and clogged the kitchen sink. I called the first plumber in the Google search list that offered after hours or 24/7 emergency service (Not Benjamin Franklin Plumbing). When I called them, they asked if they could place me on hold, and immediately did since I heard music before I could even answer "sure." During the 5 minutes of radio hold music, I found Ben Franklin Plumbing (BFP), disconnected the hold music and called BFP. The receptionist was friendly and never placed me on hold. She was polite while listening to my problem. She gave me the details of how the after hours service worked and what to expect. Everything went as expected, from the plumber Kelly calling me ahead of time to notify me he was on the way, to him evaluating the problem and going over the pricing, and then completing the work in a reasonable amount of time. The service alone met my expectations and I would recommend BFP to others in need of emergency plumbing service. What made me love the experience was Kelly taking the time to be friendly and courteous, and he provided meaningful information that helped me understand the problem to avoid issues in the future. He was not rude or condescending about the clogged drain. He also took the time to go over options that may have helped me save money over time, but was fair and let me make the decision. He was not pushy and let logic dictate whether the additional services were cost effective. He also took the extra time to provide estimates regarding other services I may need in the future. Based on the excellent and timely service and the fair and honest pricing provided by Kelly and BFP, when I decide to update the waterline to the refrigerator and update the shower in the "bathroom closet" (inside joke with Kelly), I will definitely call Ben Franklin Plumbing to handle the job. I will give my experience 1/2 a star only. Complete disaster and you will never have me as a customer again. So, my story.... I discover a significant leak in my wall which is causing my carpets to be soaked and the leak is constant. I call the office to get a technician out. While on the phone with dispatch I tell them it would be best if I could be scheduled after 4 PM, as I work in Tampa and am having the work done in New Port Richey. Im told that will not be an issue at all and they will make a note so it can happen. The appointment is confirmed with exactly what I asked, "We will see you after 4PM on.....the technician will call you when hes on his way". Great!! The day of the appointment, I begin receiving phone calls while in a meeting at 1:30 PM. I check voicemail after the meeting to discover it is Ben Franklin dispatch telling me the technician is ready to come to the house and has tried to call but Im not answering. I immediately call dispatch, tell them I wasnt supposed to be seen until after 4 PM, and am told I was on the schedule from 7AM to 7PM. What? Im told the technician is now on another call in Palm Harbor, but as soon as they finish there they will head to my house. Im told the technician will contact me when he is on his way, OR if there is an issue with him getting to me, I will be contacted by dispatch and told of the issue. I NEVER RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM ANYONE. It is now a day after my scheduled appointment and NO ONE HAS EVEN REACHED OUT TO ME TO EXPLAIN OR RESCHEDULE. I am done with Benjamin Franklin plumbing. I hope your experience is better than the one I had, but be assured I will never recommend this company and will warn anyone thinking of using them

Over a month ago, we called Ben Franklin Plumbing to fix three issues at our house. We got an appointment very quickly and the plumber arrived on time, which was nice. But thats the only positive aspect to our weeks-long odyssey with this company. The plumber installed a new tankless water heater (incorrectly)for us and advised us that he needed to order parts for the other two plumbing issues we had. He photographed the model/serial numbers and said it would take a week to get them. He even gave us his card with his cell # to call. We never heard from him or Ben Franklin Plumbing again. We called the plumbers cell repeatedly. He never answered it and the VM was always full. We called the Ben Franklin to inquire. Nothing. They only called us when I filled out an opinion survey outlining the above. Two new plumbers were sent out to our house (at different appointments) only to discover the first/original plumber had incorrectly installed the tankless water heater. I ended up ordering all the new parts I needed myself and having them shipped to my house. We called Ben Franklin back - as they instructed us - when the parts arrived. The plumber was to arrive at noon. At 2:30pm, no plumber. Call to Ben Franklin says hes running behind but "on his way." At 4:30pm, still no plumber. Second call to Ben Franklin. This time, Rick, was dismissive and rude and said the plumber was running behind and "would be there." The only thing I can count on with Ben Franklin Plumbing is a bad job done expensively, if it gets done at all.
