I hardly ever write reviews for anything, unless well, it is to warn others. I am putting myself through University, work two jobs, and I do my best to get by. Cars are just not something I was ever really around growing up, but I can usually diagnose a problem pretty well. Anyway, my point is, I have limited funds and not a lot of free time, and im not the greatest with cars. i noticed some grinding in what i thought were my brakes, and was tired of the games that tires plus always plays, so i gave these guys a call. The guy who answered seemed very nice, told me he likes to give the "usf special" to kids like me and that was that. i was pretty confident and felt comfortable. The next morning I walked in and was greated by a larger country guy, who while my car was being looked at, talked about some mildy offensive and politically incorrect topics while i just smiled and nodded. 15 minutes later after talking to the guy looking at my car he asks me, "how much cash did you bring". Sort of caught of guard by the way he presented that, i just asked him what was wrong with my car. he sort of ignored me while he typed away at the computer. After about 5 minutes of awkward silence, he once more asked about "how much cash i have" Before i could answer he tells me my car is in horrible shape and is dangerous to drive in. I had legit used a sick day to come in for this because i work 25-30 days a month sometimes, and was limited on my options, so being told it was dangerous to drive scared me. He then tells me "after extensive labor" it would cost $1100 to fix my brakes! I litterally laughed at him. like actually laughed. throw on like 250$ and you basically total my car haha. Seeing that I clearly wasnt buying dropping 11 hundred he told me i could take out a credit card with them. He tells me "having a ton of credit cards is how you become rich" That was strikes 2 and three for me, I may not be certified to work on cars, but I am not an idiot. I respectively declined his financial advice and took my car to a local mechanic in my home town about a week later and i brought the summary of what just brakes said i needed done on my car. The mechanic thought I was pulling a prank on him. Not only were these guys charging me for parts my car diddnt have, but he was charging to take them out, and put new ones in! "extensive labor" I turned out to not even have a break issue, just needed some new parts to the front of my car. Cost me like 200$ paid like 90 more to have my ac recgarged. Just breakes was looking to charge me almost 600$ just for labor...i paid about half that and my car has been great since. this was about 4 months ago. I ask and warn anyone, especially fellow USF kids, DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON!

At first when I called, I explained in detail to the manager William what was going on with my brakes, I was priced $ 99 for the rear brakes since the front where already done, when I got there the manager was very friendly and said lets get the car inside and well see what is going on with it. then they came back with the following list of items that need to be done in my car:the rear pads and resurfacing the drums $99 new hardware $42 flushing the system ( I see no reason to flush brake fluid, unless the system was contaminated or the fluid has become extremely dark. This is usually caused by people not opening the bleeder when replacing pads and forcing the dirty fluid back up the lines when retracting the caliper pistons. I believe this is just another service shop money maker. There is no factory recommended flush interval because it is unnecessary as regular maintenance. That was going to be $56, then he said your inside cabin air filter needs to be replace that is $76 and then something else that I dont remember for $79 MY GRAND TOTAL WAS $348 and then he goes ( we can take care of that for your right now what its going to be ? cash or credit......... here comes the best part, when I told him the only things that I wanted done like the brakes, because $99 for the parts and time that It wouldve taken me to do it, it was ok, but $42 for the hardware....come on..... but I did it anyways. After that the manager change completely and gave me attitude, said " well if your brakes start to stick and you have problems with them DONT come to me complaining" that my friends is not really good customer services.... he was pushing me to expend money that I didnt have.... well lets say that I wont be coming back and neither refer anybody to them ever.

I took my car in after not having driven it for a really long time. I wanted an oil change and for them to give the car a full inspection to see what else needed to be fixed on it. They automatically gave me the most expensive oil change service possible and then they told me the only thing I really needed to change was the brakes. Brake pads, rotors, everything. Over $700 worth of work just for the brakes. When I said I couldnt do that they tried to push their credit card on me so I could make monthly payments. I decided to leave even though they made sure I knew the car was dangerous and I shouldnt drive on it with the brakes like that. After that I went somewhere else and found out that there were other repairs necessary on my car, including the transmission being completely messed up. Just Brakes did not notice anything else because they focused on, like their name implies, just the brakes. My brakes werent even bad enough to need to be changed yet. I dont recommend trusting these guys at all.

Crooks. Told me I needed all new brake pads and that my rotors were too worn to be machined...so they said I needed new rotors as well. Because of my past experience, I wanted to get a second opinion. I went to another mechanic, who did his own inspection AND let me see first hand that my rotors were in GREAT condition, and that all I needed was new pads and to machine the rotors. Long story short....Just Brakes quoted me $950 ish bucks and I got it done at another shop for $399.99.... the mechanic I used said "yea, a lot of shops do that because putting on new rotors is a lot quicker (more money) and also they make more money for selling the new rotors. ALSO- they told me they found 3 other issues with my fluids which would cost nearly $300, to include flushing my radiator. The business that did the job for me could not find ANY of these issues on my car either!

DO NOT support this business! They will RIP YOU OFF. Like the other reviews say, they quote you one thing -- after making arrangements to get the car dropped off and getting a ride -- they call you and tell you they found additional things and quadruple the price! Thought I trusted their "nice" guys. So I took my 2nd vehicle for JUST BRAKES. Makes me wonder now how much they ripped me off for our last vehicle when they kept "finding" more things wrong over $3,000. The true character of these guys is this: After I decided not to do the work, I went to pick up my car. It was pouring down rain. They had put all my windows down on the car and left it outside. They just stood behind their glass windows and laughed. The worst mistake you could make is to take your vehicle to Just Brakes on Bearrs in Tampa. Patrick Piper
