Jerry Mastrogiavanni of South Florida Auto Repair, goes the "extra mile" (cliche intended) in service and customer satisfaction. The only difference is South Florida Auto Repair is anything but cliche. No place Ive taken my car for service in the past has reached anywhere near the quality of service and with such reasonable rates. South Florida Auto Repair is truly an "honest" mechanic. After my husband passed away, I took my 16-year-old Honda CRV to Jerry for some much needed mechanical and body tender loving care. She had groans and moans that he converted into purrs and an exterior that had seen worse for wear to being stopped to compliment me on the "showroom" quality on an automobile her age. Much to my surprise, Ive even been invited to participate in a local car rally at Pep Boys. Im proud to lift my hood. I have recommended South Florida Auto Repair and will continue to do so. My car has now found its permanent mechanic at South Florida Auto Repair.

The two things you most want from your mechanic are skill and honesty. At this sleepy little shop, which has been an institution in the USF area for more than 40 years, you get both - in spades. Problems are expertly diagnosed and all options presented. There is never a question of integrity; never an effort at up-selling. The consequences of temporary vs. permanent fixes are explained, as well as the option of doing nothing. They go out of their way to contain costs by using rebuilt or salvaged parts whenever possible and appropriate. These folks understand both the functional and emotional relationship one has with his/her vehicle, and treat it as if it were their own. The facility may not satisfy the aesthetic tastes of some, and this isnt the place for quick in and out type service needs. But if you are looking for the utmost in quality and integrity, from folks with a work ethic second to none, youll not find a better place.

I took my 1977 vw bus into his shop because it was running very badly. When I took it to his shop he wanted $75 to look at it, I agreed to the terms and dropped my car off. He called me to tell me two of my cylinders had low compression which required a rebuild of the engine ranging from $1500-$5000. I decided to take it to another vw shop to get a second opinion. When I called the second shop they said it probably needed a rebuild but they wanted to check the easy stuff before they ripped it out. The second shop took it in at no cost. They found out the head above the two low compression cylinders were loose and when they tightened them, the van ran great again. The shop told me the vw service manual states the heads need to be retightened every 10,000 miles. I am disappointed that I paid this guy $75 and he didnt even do basic troubleshooting. I feel like I completely wasted my money and I will not use his services again.

I have been taking my vehicles to Jerry and his team of highly trained professionals for many years and will continue to do so. I first went to South Florida because I had a Volkswagen and the shop is located near my workplace. Best decision I ever made! Not only are any problems diagnosed and repaired in a VERY timely manner, any other potential problems are reported as well not because of any attempts to "upsell" so far as work being done but so Im aware of what I need to plan for and as a single parent in a one vehicle household it is imperative I have reliable transportation. Jerry has never steered me wrong and I trust him and the South Florida team implicitly. I hsve referred several co-workers and colleagues to Jerry and all have been very pleased and quite complimentary about the South Florida staff. Take your vehicles here knowing youll get caring, professional, honest service always!

I met Jerry several years ago while working in a local convenience store. I was surprised how honest and knowledgeable he was about all kinds of car brands. When my wife was looking for a car, he advised on the best brands to keep maintenance costs down and he was right. My wife worked for a dealership at the time and despite her employee discount, I continued going to Jerry for all maintenance visits because of his honesty. Jerry will tell you about what you do and dont need to do, vs the service centers at dealerships, which support the majority of their operations cost by lying to customers; having routine maintenance done much more frequently than needed just to make a dollar. Jerry has earned my business, as well as my trust, and I will continue to service my vehicles at his location as he is a good, honest person and does great mechanical work at a good price. -Jose Marquez

Best Service in town, honest pricing and hard work. My little car has also done me right but recently started dying at stop lights and failing to start every other attempt. no check engine or any warning light was on. After being told there was "nothing wrong with my car" by two other mechanics, I took my 2009 Hyundai to South Florida Auto Repair and Lo and Behold, I was helped right away. Jerry listened to me at great length and was very respectful and attentive. He then outlined his policies and what steps he would be taking to get to the bottom of my cars issues. He kept in constant contact and made sure I understood what was going on. I know it wasnt an "Easy fix" since it would take actual mechanical investigation but he NAILED IT! I I would recommend these guys to anyone. The personal attention and service was above and beyond. I am so happy I found Jerry and his crew!

Jerry has been taking care of my Civic (affectionately named Roberto) since I moved to Florida about 2 years ago from Upstate NY (where he is from as well!). He is fantastic and so efficient. Ive never felt more comfortable bringing Roberto somewhere. I know when I need something I can always call. I was driving from SC to Tampa on a Thursday night and my car overheated -- I pulled over and called Jerry right away and he was able to talk me through what I needed to do and I got in the next morning to the garage to get everything taken care of. His prices are reasonable and Ive recommended him to many of my friends. Hes conveniently located near my job (VA hospital) and can drop off my car and walk over - Jerry always offers me a ride. I wish I could give him more stars!!!!!

Jerry is an excellent diagnostician - having a degree in Engineering, together with over 40 years of experience results in him knowing how to solve the problem. Hes the "Internal Medicine Specialist" of auto diagnostics and repair. He has very high expectations and he will not quit until he solves the problem. He takes a practical, preventive approach, which at times may cost a bit more, but in the LONG RUN..... YOU SAVE MORE. No only do you save by not having catastrophic costly break down episodes, but you lessen the likelihood of breaking down on the road..... which is PRICELESS. Thanks Jerry for years of mechanical support and expertise. PS: The Jokes are always pretty good too!!!!!!!

Ive had a great experience with Jerry and South Florida Auto repair. Ive had everything from my moms cabrio to my Jetta vr6 to my Chevy pickup over there for service. They have always been very thorough with my vehicles and upfront and honest. You can count on the job getting done the right way the first time and being in the service industry myself its nice knowing your vehicle is in good hands. I would much rather bring my cars to shop that does quality work and has the know how to fix problems the correct way vs one of these fly by night shops around town that may or may not be doing the right thing. Even if I have to pay a little more. Definitely will continue to bring my vehicles here.
