Park Avenue Gymnastics had been a top contender in my selection for aftercare and parkour classes. However, an incident which occurred this past Friday, 03/10/17, has indefinitely turned me away from Park Avenue Gymnastics. As advertised by the gym “open play” sessions are from 7:00PM to 9:00PM for ages 6-11 and 7:00PM to 10:30PM for ages 12 and up. Open play allows kids to use the extent of the gym for their play. Unlike most parents who leave their kids at the supervision of the gym, I make it a point to stay to keep an eye on my kids. The staff consists of primarily teenagers and hence, kids are supervising kids – NO adult supervision available. On Friday, during “open play” hours, a gymnastics instructor had a verbally abusive interaction with my kids whereby he screamed at them using harsh expressions and hand gestures. He yelled at not only my kids, but all those in that area. Upon approaching him, with an unapologetic attitude, he insisted that my kids, amongst other kids, were distracting his gymnastics class. As mentioned previously, all kids in the area were there during “open play” hours; there was no visible or verbal notice advising kids or parents that a certain area of the gym was closed and that “open play” was limited to certain areas. What’s more concerning is that the instructor appeared to be surprised to find a parent actually present to protect and speak up for the kids. Had I not been there, this interaction would have gone unnoticed and unreported. Another point of contention is that a parent of one the kids being instructed by this man shared that because he pays $600 for his child’s class, he was in agreement of the instructors handling of the “open play” kids. The price difference does not and should not allow for belligerent demands being thrown at kids, most of whose parents are not present to distinguish such terrible and inconsiderate behavior. Although Park Avenue Gymnastics advertises that this is the place “where you’ll feel like family,” there was no apology offered to the kids or myself by the instructor or the staff. They did, however, call me to offer me the aftercare program. Where are the adults and where is the owner. This facility is very much unlike family, providing inappropriate treatment to kids whom they are making a significant revenue from.

My daughter has been going to Park Ave Gym- Weston since she was 2 years old. She just turned 7. This gym treats you like family. They allow you to be as involved as you wish. They are kind and thoughtful to my daughter as well as our family. In 5 years, I honestly do not have any complaints! For the last 3 years, my daughter has chosen Park Ave Gym- Weston for her birthday parties. I have asked her about other places for her parties, but she wants to have them at this gym. They help you with everything for your party and make it EXTREMELY EASY on you. She also attends day camp and summer camp. There have been days she has been there for 10 hours and when I came to pick her up, she asks to be left there and for me to come pick her up later! I ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY RECOMMEND THIS GYM TO EVERYONE without any reservation. YOU, AND ESPECIALLY YOUR CHILDREN, WILL BE VERY HAPPY HERE!

I attended park avenue as a child for about 8 years (age 5 to 13) in the 1990s and competed in their team from level 1 up until level 4. Fast forward plenty years, my daughter now attends this gym and it is still under the same ownership it was when i attended which gives me great confidence in letting them teach her. She started from the early classes and is now in their rising stars program eager to hopefully build up to competing. yes, Im extremely proud :). I also use their after school camp which is such a huge help in my life & this January 2014 i had her 7th birthday there which was a huge success. Needless to say Im a fan & have great amount of love for this gym! TEAM PARK AVENUE!!!!

I was looking for after school pick up and care. I researched a few centers and found that most do not have properly licensed drivers. I did not see a license on their van and the front desk girls could not tell me if their driver was licensed or had insurance. Park is also a very small gym with very young kids sorta coaching. I do not have confidence in this place.
