Signature, HaHa. I travel and have been into lots of different LA Fitness gyms throughout the country. This gym is supposed to be a "Signature" more expensive, more desirable gym. It is really only slightly different than any other LA Fitness Ive been to, except worse. I asked the front desk why this is considered a Signature. I was told because of the towel service the bath products in the showers, and the hair dryers. Well most LA Fitness gyms used to have hair dryers, then they took them out. The bath products are worthless. They are 3 big pump jars in each shower stall attached to the wall. The showers are extremely small, and then you add 3 big pump jars (you end up smelling like a fruit) so now you have no room to move around. They also have those stupid water saver nozzles, so you have hardly any water coming out. So no room to move and little water, good luck trying to get clean or trying to get the soap out of those nether regions. The main pool is the smaller of the standard size for most regular level LA Fitness gyms. Some have larger pools, most have pools about this size. So why is this a Signature. The hot tub is a joke. Whomever poured/installed it has never been in a hot tub/spa. It is nice and deep in the middle, but the seating area around the side was poured too high. I am a normal gym size 59" male. When I hop up (yes, you have to climb up to sit) my feet are dangling about 6" from the tub floor. The water level and jets are where they should be, but with the seat so high, the jets hit your butt and your entire upper body is out of the water. When I was in there, 3 normal sized ladies came in. They stood the entire time in the middle. If they would have sat, they would have had to hop/climb up and their entire upper body would have been out of the water. So great if you have legs issues, but if you want jets or hot water therapy for your back, shoulders or neck, this is not the place. There is no drinking fountain in the pool area or even in the locker room. So if you want to hydrate or even refill your water bottle, you have to walk dripping wet all of the way out into the workout floor to the nearest fountain. The workout floor was nice. Just as nice as most other regular LA Fitness gyms. So, if you are the type that likes to wear the matching outfits and waltz around the workout floor and seldom enter the locker room and never go into the pools then great. But if you like to sweat, take a shower, use a hot tub or swim a lot, then this is a worthless gym. I have been to Signature gyms in other towns, they are nice. This is not one of them.

Yesterday I had to cancel my debit card because of fraud. LA Fitness attempted to bill the card the same day for my membership fees. When the billing would not go through, the LA Fitness collections department started blowing up my phone...10 calls in the first hour. I called Becky at the Windermere location and told her that I would swing by and drop off a check within 24-48 hours. Becky said that the calls would likely continue until the account was current. I was mystified at this answer so I asked to speak to Paul the General Manager of the location. Paul has been unresponsive. It has been less that 24 hours total and so far the collections department has racked up about 24 phone calls. On a scale of 10 I give them a customer service department a score of ZERO and Paul a score of ZERO. I also suspect that their collection strategies are totally illegal under the consumer rights laws. Update 10/22/13; I went into the club on Friday, 10/18 and spoke to Paul and Kristen who both had been dodging my phone calls. Neither wanted to listen to me. I attempted to pay by check and told them that this was for the "current payment only" and they were not to capture may bank account and routing number as this was the original source of fraudulent activity on my bank accounts and it is my personal policy not to give my bank account number to anyone. I expained that it only takes a few days for a new debit card to be reissued and they would need to be patient. They refused to take the current payment under my reasonable terms and told me that the calls would continue. . They also refused to give me the name of a corporate level person but said that they would have someone call me. No one has called. I sourced phone numbers for corporate level people on my own and have made several attempts to speak to them by leaving detailed voice mails explaining how poorly I have been treated...no returned calls, no resolution on the horizon. BUT, I am stilll receiving several phone calls per day from low level collections people who continue harrassing tactics...and my account is only 5 days past due.

Beware of this facility and DO NOT PREPAY. They cannot be trusted to continue to provide you the product you see when you initially sign up. I evaluated the facility and liked the layout and work-out space so I signed up. They had a small work-out area equipped with exactly what I use for my work-out and there was no need to pay for a personal trainer to use that space. NOW, I am required to pay for a personal trainer to continue in that space. The alternative, they explained, is to work out in a tiny crowded area without mirrors under the staircase, or gather all the pieces I need for my work-out and carry them to an area with mirrors. This is not what I signed up for. I prepaid for a year membership and, after three months, will not be returning because they no longer offer what they offered when I signed up; however, they will not refund the nine months of unused membership dues. Even a polite phone call to head corporate office was a waste of my time except to express my disappointment. My husband had a similar experience. He has been going there for several years. He continued to sign up this year because of the excellent spin instructors and the full classes. Then, for several months, they had mostly very poor instructors and attendance fell significantly. He was on the verge of cancelling his membership when a new good instructor was hired. My husband likely will not be returning to this facility either, however, after his membership expires. Be careful in your business dealings with this company. They are not to be trusted. Marilyn

If they had an option for "0" stars, I would choose it. My experience was bad enough to cancel my membership, but when I tried to over the phone, I was told that I had to come in, fair enough. I went in and ended up being there for an hour to cancel. I thought I was done with LA Fitness Windermere, but no...I noticed that they decided to try to charge my card again, 3 months after I cancelled, so I called and asked for a manager, which they wouldnt give me, I told them my issue and as I was explaining, saw in my bank account that they had not only charged me the month before, but DOUBLE charged me the month before. After being on hold for the desk clerk to speak to a manager (which I wasnt permitted to speak to) I was told, "Oh Im sorry, we can refund you for the charge that we just put through" and I asked about the double charge the month before, and that is when she has the audacity to tell me that it was my fault I didnt catch that, and I should have been looking at my account.....are you kidding me, you mess up and its MY fault I didnt catch it???? I asked again to speak to a manager, and she said that the manager was busy, I asked the managers name which was Kristen (sp?)and then asked for a last name, she told me that she cant give that to me...What????? Im sorry, if you are a manager and you have to hide from an upset EX customer, and you need a little teenage girl to deflect, you should not be a manager. If I could stand out in front of the gym with a picket sign I would. Save your money, buy a treadmill.
