My wife and I took our sons (freshman at UGA) car into Japanese Motor Works due to an electrical issue. Peter Haughton, the owner and CEO, sat down with the 3 of us, and asked my son to go thru the problems he was having. His questions were to the point and he patiently listened to my sons comments, and continued to probe for further diagnostic detail. After 5-8 minutes of Doctor like diagnostic questions, he thought he knew what the problem was. Their service and pricing were excellent. Their attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction was their priority. We live in Marietta, and were so pleased to find Japanese Motor Works, and their staff with Dewey and Jake who were friendly and supportive. We have found a Auto Service Company that is top notch, and as parents of a UGA student would highly recommend this firm. They give you the sense of security that they will take care of your sons or daughters care and treat them with respectability and fairness. I know that for the next 4 years, our son will be bringing his car to Japanese Motor Works anytime that he has a problem. I am not related to anyone at the firm, but was sincerely impressed by them, and their ability to relate to my son, and address his concern...and we dont need to drive from Marietta to Athens for future car problems !!! Thanks to Peter and his team at Japanese Motor Works !!!

Worst experience ever. They had a nice friendly attitude but wouldnt listen to an 18yr old when told he needed a valve adjustment. I will never go back. Also not my real name. When I went in it was for a 1995 Honda Civic EX for Damien Butler. This add on is in response to the owners response. I told them that to hear the noise most easily is to have the car in 3rd or 4th gear going about 15 to 25mph down the road to hear it at best. And I knew about the oil leak it was coming from the rear main seal plus my water pump had a leak. Like I also told them I put an after market exhaust on the car which caused the car to lose some MPG and even after they replaced the gasket I still had the same issue of the huge loss in gas along with the ticking noise which was from the valve being out of adjustment. Now after the valve adjustment it now has no issue getting 280 miles to the tank. Plus the exhaust only had the one leak coming from that blown out gasket in which I believe is still causing some noise but I will find out next week when I replace it myself.

I had an accident hitting a patch of black ice one morning and was pretty freaked out. Luckily, I wasnt hurt and no one else got hurt, but my Sentra received the brunt and the suspension was shot. I called JMW (because I had an appointment with them soon) and asked about a tow. Jake gave me a number, I got the tow, and JMW simply added the cost to my final bill. After talking to Jake I felt more at ease, and I knew that JMW was the best possible choice for the car. In less than a week they had my Sentra repaired, better than new! The estimates I received (by email--very convenient) were an idea of what I had to pay, but I received a discount and as a bonus my bearings did not need to be replaced so I was very happy with the final bill. They did an excellent job every step of the way, keeping me in the loop, and completing everything they said they would--on time! I am thankful for their service and patience and will gladfully go to them in the future for maintenance and repair. Thank you!

Terrible service and work. I brought in my 2004 gray 350Z for a clutch and not only did they take TWO weeks (told me theyd be done in 3 DAYS) but called me a liar and a "problem since the beginning". Made me drive halfway there (I lived in dahlonega) THREE SEPARATE TIMES and mid way there theyd call and say "sorry but its no good. Come in 2-3 days". They dont care about their customers, and the phrase "the customer is always right" does not apply with them. I was HUGELY disappointed when I received the service I received from here after reading all the great reviews. The mechanic that fixed up my car, who apparently has 25 years or something working on Japanese cars, couldnt put a clutch assembly in a JAPANESE car. I came here summer time of last year (2016) and waited til my warranty was void to write this review. I hate this place, the people, and service. Do not recommend bringing your cars and business to this place.

Japanese Motor Works is the best mechanic in the Athens area, especially if you have foreign model cars. The have kept our two Hondas running in top rate condition even as they get up there in miles. The importance they place on communicating with the customer is unlike anything I have seen from a mechanic before, in a great way. They will call you and explain the issue in terms a non-mechanic can understand and then work with you to develop the best and most affordable course of action to deal with the issue. They do not waste time or money doing things that are not in the best interest of the customer. I can always be assured that when I leave with my car it has been adequately repaired with quality parts and workmanship. Japanese Motorworks will continue to be the only place I trust to do all repairs and maintenance on my vehicles. Take your vehicle to them, you will not be disappointed.

I took my 1998 Honda to Japanese Motor Works for the first time after a history of having shaky trust in prior repair work at reputable shops. I had some trepidation: would diagnosis be accurate, would repairs be done well, would the cost be fair? The car was in rough shape when it arrived at JMW Wednesday. I left Friday afternoon with a car that is running more smoothly than it has for years -- and with a strong sense that this local business is committed to expert and fair service. I was so impressed that repairs were thoroughly explained when I picked up the car (and that I was consulted along the way). Comparing the repair cost with previous experiences and locations, I believe the work by JMW was fairly priced, as well. Overall: Excellent place, people, service. Two thumbs up. Way up.

About a year ago I got tired of being ripped off by the local dealerships, so I followed a friends advice and started taking our cars here. A few repairs and some routine maintenance later, I couldnt be more impressed. Every experience Ive had with them has been above and beyond. Several months ago on a rainy Sunday evening the timing belt on our Toyota Camry broke, so I had it towed here. The tow truck had just pulled away when the owner and his wife stopped by. They opened up the shop for us, checked the car in, and took the key (saving me from having to leave work the next day and drive back over.) Their prices are very fair, the mechanics do an excellent job, and the turnaround time is always sooner than I expect. Even their invoices are unusually clear and informative.
