DR.. ROOF RECOMENDATION - REFERRAL In several words: EXCEPTIONAL EXPERTISE and HONESTY Dr. Roof has my unconditional recommendation. I am a retired Delta Air Lines pilot. As you might imagine, typically pilots are sticklers for perfection. At my age, I have experienced many different contractors of all types (I have owned, both now and in the past, multiple residences). No other contractor of any type I have hired has even approached the professionalism, craftsmanship, thoroughness, and attention to details of Dr. Roof. In both in GAF Golden Pledge roofing and in HardiePanel and HardieSiding, Dr. Roof used techniques and materials I did not know existed. My employment as a pilot provided me enough time between trips to be actively involved during any contractors work. For example, I read books before seeking proposals for my previous roof so I would be familiar with industry standards and practices. To insure the proper materials and techniques were used for both roof replacements I was on the roof almost the entire time both the new roofs were was being installed. I had thought the the first roofers did a superlative job. That was until hail damaged the roof and it was replaced by Dr. Roof. I then discovered how to replace a roof properly with no compromises, no shortcuts, advanced material selections, and unique techniques--none of which I found in roofing books. Simply AMAZING. Forthermore, Dr. Roofs workers protected my Trex deck by covering it with 4x8 sheets of plywood, followed by a new large tarp, followed by another, older, tarp (probably to protect the new tarp). They used large tarps to make awnings around my home so they could divert any scraps to more tarps laid on the ground to collect roofing materials. An awning and ground tarp were even installed above the already protected deck--I do not think anything even reached the protected deck. It took three days to remove and replace my roof. Each day they would clean up THOROGHLY, pack everything up--including the tarps, and the next day reinstall the awning and ground tarps. For the removal, they took the extra effort to haul all the old materials across my roof to my driveway, rather than drop them into a landscaped areas. In the end, they left NOTHING behind, and did NO DAMAGE to my landscape. I never found a single nail (we are ornamental garden enthusiasts--we would have found them), and only four pieces of about 1" wide 18" long pieces of transparent film that keep the shingles from sticking together at the adhesive strip. The film strips are so light they probably blew beyond the tarps, so that was fully expected and acceptable. The roofers were AMAZING. And they did not cost any more than the run-of-the-mill roofer. AMAZING. Dr. Roof’s Huso and Marino have done several projects carpentry projects for me, including both HardieSiding, HardiePanel, and replacing some rotted window framing and trim. They could not be better. I do not have enough superlatives. They also are AMAZING. I could not ask for better craftsmen. And they are craftsmen, not ordinary carpenters. BTW, I received proposals from several roofing contractors to replace my roof due to hail damage (paid for by USAA insurance). Dr. Roof was the only roofer not to offer to refund my insurance deductible. If a contractor is dishonest enough to cheat an insurance company, how can he be trusted to not cheat a homeowner? Moreover, USAA Issuance accepted there proposal price. It was, after all, essentially the same as the others (miraculously).

There is no doubt in my mind that the work was high quality. I only fault Dr. Roof in the over all sales presentation. We had to replace a lot of the roof decking and I am confident that what was replaced had to be replaced. But: Here is where I would like to make some suggestions: I believe Dr. Roofs sales representative should have been more informative on why the roof decking would have to be replaced. I am sure the average roof has several that have to be replaced and at $48.00 each that really hits the budget fast and I had many more than several. I understand why the sales rep would not want to raise this flag for it only would make the price go up and up, but I think it is a good and honest approach and it would have increased my appreciation for Dr. Roofs work. And I could have better planned how to pay the bill. My roof had shingles put on shingles, done by previous owner of the home. This too, I have been told, increases the possibility that I would need many decking replacements. This too the salesman could have told me instead of letting me be surprised as the stack of decking on my driveway grow with every hour. These replacements significantly raise the price. We home owners who are new to this should be warned by the roofing company so we can plan our budget etc. I would also like to suggest that when the replacement decking reaches a certain number, lets say 25, a discount price for the decking would kick in. This too would give Dr. Roof an edge. And I know a roofing company like Dr. Roof knows the average number that has to be replaced and could figure out the pricing. Thanks for letting me give you this feedback. Again, I do not fault the workmanship in any way. The three stars are not for workmanship but for the sales approach of the company.

Dr. Roof was coming out to do some repairs on our wood trim. Our quote stated a certain price & time for completion. Our sales rep didnt estimate the size ladder needed and the time needed for completion correctly. He tried to charge us for a one day rental of a taller ladder. I didnt feel this was correct and contacted the manager, Rick. He was very apologetic and said we were not supposed to get charged for the sales reps mistake. He put on the quote that a 40-ft ladder was all that was needed but when the workers came out they said they needed a 60-ft ladder and the sales rep tried to charge us approximately $200 for the ladder & the work was going to take longer than a 1/2 day. The sales manager was friendly and seemed to really care about us. He made sure we didnt have to pay the extra amount. We have used Dr. Roof many times for roof repairs and we still plan on using them for other items, too, but didnt like what this sales rep did. You dont nickle and dime and try to change a quote to cover up your mistakes. We can understand getting charged extra if there was excessive damage once they opened up things but not because of their mistake. Also, we had another sales rep come out to give us a quote for repairs to our roof. Instead of giving us both quotes (full roof repair & patch job) he only gave us a full roof repair. It took us over a month to get that quote. When I talked to the sales mgr about the other issue I asked about the roof repair quote and it took another couple of days to get that information. In all, it took over 2 months to get our quote for the roof repairs. That isnt acceptable. We should have had that information within a couple of days.
