I had my brakes done at a competitor, and not too long after, they started making a grinding sound when they were warmed up. I brought them back to the competitor twice, explained the problem, and each time I was turned away because they couldnt replicate the sound, likely because they let the car sit for over a half hour before testing it. I took the car into this Meineke location, and while I couldnt replicate the sound because the brakes were not warm enough yet, I was able to describe the issue to the manager, and he diagnosed the issue. He was even able to replicate the sound perfectly! He said the issue was with the pads, and that they needed to be replaced. At first ge suggested i take it back to the competitor and explain the diagnosis, and since i needed the work done that day for an upcoming teip, he offered to replace the pads, allowing me to take them back to the competitor for a warranty refund. But then, he actually called the competitor, got their manager on the phone, and convinced them to fit me in and fix my brakes that day. Wow! I have never had someone go to bat for me in such a manner. Amazing!!! While I have used the local Meinekes before, I am now going to use them for all maintenance, service and repair need a for our two household cars. What a way to earn my business! It just cost him a little time outnof his morning to turn me into a devoted customer... and having the knowledge and experience to diagnose an issue that the competitor couldnt in two visits helped as well. Awesome!

My wife went to NTB for an oil change, and came out with a quote to do brakes. I took the car to Meineke to inspect the brakes (not telling them about NTBs quote), and was given a quote for $550 for front & rear. And then he said hed drop the price to $500 if I did it now. I took a pass because $500 seemed expensive to me...and I dont like that type of negotiating. When I got home, I noticed their quote had a $45 line item for labor listed THREE times: once for the front axle, once for the rear, and once for...I dunno, either padding or so they could cut the price $50 in "negotiations." I then took the car to Bolingbrook Auto on Lilly Cache. They said that ONLY the front needed to be done! The rear had HALF of their life left!!! HOW CAN MEINEKE TELL ME THE REAR NEED TO BE DONE WHEN THEY HAVE 50% LIFE LEFT??? Bolingbrook Autos quote was less than Meinekes would have been for the front only. Great service there. Highly recommend them...over by the high school. Wont ever go back...not even for an oil change.

I had one of the most bizarre car experiences Ive ever had here, and it cost me. I took my Saturn in for a simple oil change, during which the mechanics somehow got the key stuck in the ignition. Long story short, they kept the car overnight, refused to take responsibility, and charged me $250 (all the while telling me they gave me a deal). I dont know about anyone else, but Ive never *heard* of a key getting stuck in an ignition, not to mention having it happen, not to mention having it spontaneously happen at the mechanics! Id never had any sort of key trouble before this, and it was they who inserted the key. The worst part to me was their attitude. They were not only unhelpful, but quite belligerent about the whole thing, during and after; I had to threaten to sue to even get them to refund half the money. All I can say is that my one experience turned into a nightmare, and this place has every sign of the scam artist.

While I hadnt planned on making a poor review since the initial problems I had with this business were extenuating and I can forgive that, what had just occurred is beyond excusable. Im a college student and had been home for spring break. Today (Sunday) I was heading back to school, which is a two hour drive. We had initially taken my car to Meineke to have the muffler replaced. Well, as I was accelerating after turning onto a road, I heard a pop and suddenly my previously silent cat was as loud as a hotrod. I pulled into a parking lot and looked under to inspect the muffler, only to find that it was hanging from the underside of my car by only a bracket. The weld that connected the muffler to the pipe running from the engine had completely failed, leaving my car in a worse condition than it had been before I took it to Meineke. Do not do business here. Customer service is sub par and their work is unreliable.

Went in today for an exhaust repair quote. Was told nothing could be fixed, it was all too rusty. Quoted $1,250 for a complete new system, from manifold on back. Problem with that is, we have a lift at work, and I knew what the car needed (and its condition), and even mentioned that to the techs, and in the comment section when I booked on-line. Left there and went to Exhaust Works in Naperville, was fixed in 10 minutes for $175. $100 for the resonator, which I knew was the problem, $75 for labor to cut and weld the new piece in place. Car sounds perfect now! This must be why in the lobby at Meineke they have brochure put out for financing your auto repairs. Maybe for your un-needed auto repairs! If you dont want to do the work, just say so, dont over-charge!

Needed unexpected brake service on a Sunday and this location is very close to my house so I took a chance (as I would have to walk to pickup my car). They needed to keep the car overnight for parts availability reasons; but service was friendly and prompt (total time without car was about 24 hours and they accepted it right away). Considering I did not have any previous appointment or any advance warning this was probably the best I could expect on short notice. This place looks like it might be haunted by the bad reviews left under previous management but Im willing to take my vehicle to them again to see if the service level is consistent in the future.

I regularly bring all my cars to this shop. Recently I had a horrible experience which lead me to believe that these guys are big ( ?) ! I had to replace the bulb of my left indicator light.First the Saturday Manager told me that it will cost me $25/-. Finally he agreed for $15/- if I get him the bulb. He told me the labour charge to replace the bulb will be $15/- as it will require about 30 minutes to do job ! The bulb was fixed just in two minutes for which they charged me $15/-!! Never again to this place.

Seems as this place is under new management. None of the previous reviews seem to be accurate anymore. Brought my mini van to check the brakes. They were squeaking inconsistently. They checked the brakes and even let me look at the brakes with them. He explained to me that brakes were good and showed me why and what they would looklike if they were bad. Only paid the minimum to have him check. Awesome job!

These guys where very professional and where quick with fixing my car up, check my tire for a leak, flushed the radiator, oil change and tuned up my ac within 2 hours. If you get there early enough in the morning its a quick in and out but if its past 1030 Id call to make an apt. Because they get busy quickly but for good reson, these guys are great! Will definitely be back here.
