On April 20, 2017 there was a plumbing issue with my toilet where water was flooding into the unit below. Captain Rooter (plumbers name was Alex) was hired to fix this by Renters Warehouse who at that time were managing the property. The bill for the job was $425.00. Renters Warehouse paid the bill using my funds. Unfortunately, the work did not alleviate the problem and another plumber at to be called in. He stated that the previous plumber did the work IMPROPERLY. Renters Warehouse called Captain Rooter when they were notified of this issue to see how quickly a plumber could come out since the job was under warranty. However, they were told that all plumbers were very busy and someone would call him back in 45 minutes. After not receiving a call back, they had no other choice but to approve another plumber (that the HOA provided) to install a new toilet to rectify this issue costing me $765. Captain Rooter was then notified that I was requesting a refund. They AGREED to the refund via email on July 6th, 2017 for work that was done at my property on April 20, 2017 stating, "I will talk to Jesse and refund you the money. Give us a week to process everything please.." That refund never happened. Since then, I have made NUMEROUS attempts at contacting them regarding this refund. They again agreed to the refund stating "Apologies about the situation at hand and for it to come to this I am writing a check as we speak, and will drop it off at renters ware house office." This was on August 15, 2017. Renters Warehouse claims they have not received a check. I also have not gotten a response from their office since. This company clearly does not stand by their word. They are not to be trusted. I just want my money back and all they have done is LIED to me stating they will refund me and then doing nothing. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Attorney Generals Office. I plan to take legal action. I just do not understand how a business can treat a customer in this way. Do not give this company your business. They are clearly shady and their word means nothing even when its in writing! Update 9/15: After posting this review I was contacted by Jesse from Captain Rooter and issued a refund. Thank you.

First guy came and wanted to reschedule the next day. Quoted work that would be done verbally. The next day, he said a job ran late and was in a car accident. Stated id get a discount and likely someone else can come the following day and the office would call me in the morning. After waiting until about 10, I called in, the office had no clue what was going on. They agreed to send someone out later. Two guy show up, quote all sort of work in a the unit downstairs i didnt ask for and turned turned the job into something way more than intended. I wanted toilet lines inspected, a sink rodded/unclogged, and toilets reseated/leveled properly. Its okay to use a plastic flange spacer for tile gap and they were trying to sell a $300 repair that probably takes 30 minutes to do. Im an engineer and not stupid; i just legally cant do plumbing. Anything beyond that was not my problem (rental). I said that i would not be interested in said work, and they said that its that or nothing. I appreciate their "we need to guarantee fix the issue" but i wanted "assurance the issue wasnt my problem". Ive wasted two days now because of this company including now having to find another plumber on my Saturday. I wouldnt recommend this outfit. The quotted price was outright absurd if one looks at hourly rates. Guy #1 for that work was trying to get upwards of $1000 for less than 3 hours of work and effectively no parts. #2 $900-$1900. They wanted to rip out the unit downstairs that i didnt have access to, find the leak, and then go from there. Ripping out drywall is kind of a... quick process. It doesnt make sense. That wouldnt include drywall repair.

I live in a seven unit condo association, and we had a plugged drain line about a year ago that affected 3 of the units. We called Roto Rooter and a few hours later they came out and ended up breaking the rodding equipment in the drain. They said they would come back the next day and try again. Well 3:00PM the next day, and nothing! So we call and - oh, theyll come back - but tomorrow! We called Captain Rooter and they recovered the broken equipment and freed the drain in a matter of hours. Flash-forward to just a few months ago. Same deal except the other 4 units were affected. A new owner who wasnt aware of the previous experience called Roto Rooter again and it was like deja vue. Roto-Rooter failed, and told us wed have to pay to temporarily move a water heater and theyd be back tomorrow. Luis, from Captain Rooter, came out and said hed try without moving the water heater, but thought it might be needed. They were successful without moving the water heater and saved us $600! If youve ever had a plugged drain and cant use the sinks, showers or toilets until its fixed - you know how important it is to be repaired immediately. That was probably worth at least as much as $600! Thanks, Luis, and Captain Rooter, youll certainly be the first we call from now on.

My family had a terrible incident with this company. My son had called in regarding a broken pipe in our bathroom. This company made it seem as if my son was stupid and had no idea of what he was talking about. They were rude over the phone and had refused to come check it out. They had told us that they were unavailable that they would be able to do it some other day or when they "had time" In the meantime what was I suppose to do? Have a flooded bathroom. My husband also had tried getting in contact with the owner of this business and they refuse to transfer us. Overall they were the worst at customer service. Never in my life did I ever experience something like it. If you are looking for a friendly professional company. THEY ARE NOT IT! You are better off with another company.

Two days ago My mothers house had a bad drain problem, so I called a couple of plumbers to give us an estimate of how much would be to fix the problem any of the options they gave us were not too promising..so I called this company just to get one more estimate and they arrived right away, they gave us different options way better options( they didnt want to open a hole in my moms front yard right away like the other plumbers) and their rates were way more affordable than the other ones, so we decided to hired them. They brought a machine called hydro jetter and clear the lines with it, our lines start flowing in like 20minutes after they started and so far we have had no problems at all! Im glad I called them, I highly recommend them.

Juan from Captain Rooter was amazing. After our basement flooded, he arrived very quickly and competently diagnosed a larger issue that we had with our plumbing. He then had to dig up the front walkway and replace the pipe to the sewer. He quoted us a very fair price for the work that he did. He also went above and beyond and took care of all of our needs. He contacted the city for inspection as well as took care of all of other small things that we needed him to do. He was extremely responsible and timely throughout the week that he was working on my home. I would recommend him in a heart beat.
