5 Stars all the way!!! I called Rob, last spring, to see about options for some kind of flood control for my basement. I liked that he offers several different options depending on the individual situation. Though I knew I would probably hire Rob after our first phone conversation - he doesnt come out for free estimates. He actually cables the sewer line to locate everything pertaining to the job. I brought him in last - since I knew my sewer line needed some rodding anyway. I talked to 5 different companies, 4 of which gave me detailed estimates. My instincts were correct to hire Rob. He came out with John on a Saturday to do the evaluation and rod our line. They thoroughly explained everything with our current systems and the best solutions. We decided to go with a modified" overhead sewer system. The basement drains, toilet, and washer/dryer are no longer connected to the city sewer line. They now drain into an ejector pit which pumps the waste water up to the main stack. Sewer will never flood my basement. I think there needs to be 6 feet of water outside in order for gravity to push the sewage up to my first floor.. Rob called with the estimate 2 days later - gave me the price $6000. After talking to the other companies, I was ready to pull the trigger on this one. Great news was they could start tomorrow. They showed up on time ready to work (Jermaine and Ed). Friendly and hardworking. Worked all day excavating the basement floor. After 1 or 2 days we talked to Rob about having some rough in plumbing so we can build a bathroom down there. They threw that in for $1500 and also moved my Hot Water Heater and added an extra floor vent. This was a big job and every one of the workers were first rate - Jermaine, Ed, John, Luke, and of course Rob. Job took 5 days. Communication with Tom, in the office, was also pleasant. Excellent job by all of them - I couldnt be happier. And they finished a couple of days before our first big rain - I slept easy that night. Thanks Rob! Hope to see you soon - we want to upgrade some of our old plumbing lines and of course get started on that bathroom.

I had Rob come out after two other plumbers for a flood control estimate. The two other plumbers (one of whom is great, the other I would never let in my house again) had basically one flood control option each, and both were between $6500-7500. Rob had several options to go over with me, and we ended up choosing the one that was right for our house and budget (in as much as installing flood control is budgeted, and much less than the other two quotes). While he was there for the first time, he couldnt help but look at some plumbing that was just installed by my contractor on a kitchen remodel that I am doing and pointed out that the whole thing was not up to code and told me exactly how to have them fix it. This is before he was awarded the flood control job. He also showed us how we could increase the water pressure to our two upstairs bathrooms, so we decided to do both projects at once. We went with adding an ejector pit next to our sump pump since we have a basement bath and are hoping to one day add a shower. His guys came in, worked ALL day, (and hard, those poor guys were jackhammering up concrete then digging through Chicago clay), the job was as fully staffed as it could be considering the close quarters, and worked every workday until it was time for inspection. Inspector came, the work passed, then the following work day they came and put it all back together and cleaned up all the mud/scraps. I wish I had the same kind of experience with my kitchen contractor! Side note: while they were finishing up, one of the guys pointed out to me that the work being done on my deck would have disastrous results if I let them do it that way (they wanted to pour a footing 1 down, which would heave and throw my deck askew). He didnt have to tell me, but his comment - one I wish everybody worked by - was "if youre going to do it, do it right". Id say that comment pretty much sums up my experience with Rob and his guys. Thanks! Not exactly looking forward to the next 100 year rain, but at least I wont lose sleep every time we get a downpour!

Initially I reached out to Robs shop because they were local and I like the idea of working with small businesses. Unfortunately, that is what plagued them in the end. My needs were not an urgent plumbing matter- my shower only dispensed really hot water, borderline scalding, which is not pleasant to use, but Ive been dealing with it for a few months now. After playing some phone tag to reach them, I was able to explain my needs to Ralph. He promised he would call me back the next day with a quote on the work and to schedule a time to come out. Three days later I still had not received a follow-up call. I called in and had to re-explain my needs to a different guy, but ultimately he had to have Ralph call me back to schedule a time. We scheduled them to come out on a Wednesday morning. I took the morning off of work to be home while they worked. They said they would be there between 7-7:30 and didnt show until 8:30. After taking my shower apart, they informed me they did not have the right part and needed to visit their supplier and would have to take my part with them. They also informed me that it could not be done in the same day and they would have to come back tomorrow. There was also the chance that it would be a different technician. I was not very comfortable with the idea that the guy who would be putting it back together was not the same person who took it apart. It was the end of the day and I still had not heard from Ralph about when they would be coming out the next morning - Ill have to take off from work then too. I called in and Ralph informed me that they do not have enough guys to send out tomorrow and would have to wait until at least Friday before they could come out. This puts me without a usable shower for 2 days. They did eventually complete the job and which was satisfactory. Bottom line is they are a small shop and they operate like one. Their prices were a little high. You might expect a lower price given they have less overhead than a bigger company.

This morning as i was headed out the door i noticed something out of the corner of my eye. soap bubbles. at the rim of the kitchen sink. odd i think to myself and walk over to inspect. the kitchen sink is completely full of water which is really odd because there was no water running. i call work and tell them i will be late and go grab the plunger. i plunge and i plunge and nothing happens so call a plumber i must. rob was the 3rd plumber i called and the first who answered his phone. i told him the problem. he told me what he thought it was. he told me he would call me back in 10 minutes to let me know when his guys could be over. in the meantime i got distracted by the apartment building on the corner catching on fire. 15 minutes or so later rob called back. his guys would be there in a half hour to an hour. about 40 minutes later two guys showed up. took some things apart. snaked some things. got the water draining properly again. im on the first floor and the main line for the building was filled with a rock of grease. they showed me a pipe in my sinks drain that seriously needed to be replaced. it had a huge rust spot and completely crumbled upon further inspection. a quick trip to home depot for a new pipe. installed the pipe and out the door they went. i am a new homeowner and this was my first time dealing with a plumber. i can say with certainty these guys will be my first call next time i have troubles!
