Lisa Sanders was the selling agent for a house my wife and I went to look at in the Norwood Park area of Chicago a few weeks back and she couldnt have been any more rude and unprofessional. Not an agent I would want representing my company or trying to sell my house. We walked up to the house with our agent and she was sitting on the front steps and did not say hello or introduce herself. She stood up and mentioned something about putting the dog up and went inside. We asked our agent if that was the owner and that is when we found out it was Lisa Sanders the selling agent from Dreamtown Realty. She came back outside and informed us to "not open the basement door" Still without a hello or introduction as to who she is. My first reaction with that statement was that we couldnt go into the basement so that is what I asked her. She then looked at me with a very condescending annoyed look and replied "thats not what I said, what I said was dont open the basement door and go to the backyard." My wife corrected and stated that is not what she said. She then walked away and we did not see her the rest of the time until we left. No hello, goodbye, thanks for viewing, let me know if you have any questions. Nothing. Talk about unprofessional. I dont know what her issue was but whatever it was gives her no right to act the way she did. I actually wrote a review about this incident on Yelp already and apparently Lisa Sanders or Dreamtown contacted Yelp to have it removed today. The email stated that it was removed because "Dreamtown was not representing me in a transaction". True, Dreamtown was not representing me but I never said they were nor should it matter. That is not in violation of yelps criteria by any means. Lisa Sanders was representing herself as well as Dreamtowns big sign that was in front of the house we were looking at. I also contacted Dreamtown by phone and was transferred to Rebecca who took down my complaint. I was given no apology nor any sign of concern as to how an agent is treating a potential buyer so rudely and unprofessional. Lisa actually contacted my agent to ask if I could take the review down also. Didnt bother to try and contact me to apologize for her actions and unprofessionalism. All her and apparently Dreamtown are concerned with are not having my honest review of my experience with Dreamtown and their agent on Yelp. Its a shame that we had that experience with Lisa Sanders and Dreamtowns lack of concern with the situation because we were really interested in the home. Due to the lack of concern for how a potential buyer is treated I will never deal with her or the company again.

So, I didnt know anything about real estate before buying a condo with Dreamtown and then selling it three years later and have nothing to compare Dreamtown to, but I cant imagine that other real estate companies are like this. My story: I bought a condo in Chicago when housing prices were down, lived in it for a while, and then sold it three years later when I moved out of the city. My agent was Jim Barclay. I would 100% recommend him! I was so surprised that he so down to earth and such a cool guy! It made it much easier to ask questions and ask for help. Ive heard that real estate agents can try to push things in certain directions to get a faster deal even if it means less money for the buyer, but he didnt do that at all, he was super receptive to my thoughts about pricing and timing. He was always very honest, and he gave me his opinion on condo details without being too pushy. Im 25 and I dont know anything about real estate, and he could have easily been more bossy and made the experience stressful and intimidating, but instead he walked me through everything and was very patient. Also, when I moved to New Jersey, he did a ton of extra little stuff that he didnt have to do, from offering to let repairmen into the condo to helping me out last minute when I accidentally scheduled furniture removal for a day after the closing. Oh and also, for the celebration after the condo was sold, he showed me the Revolution brewery! I had never been, very cool.

I had the good fortune of encountering Ted Mortellaro by chance at an open house in my former neighborhood. Ted was open, inviting, and happy to share both information and time. I expressed an interest in finding a property in my price range and Ted indicated a willingness and desire to help in that quest. As a first time buyer, I had many questions and concerns and, over time, Ted was able to help me work through each of them. I felt confident that Ted wouldn’t let me make a poor decision. I truly believe that he had my best interests at heart. Ted has a wealth of knowledge about Chicago and it’s various neighborhoods, so even though I didn’t have a firm grasp on a specific search location, he was able to guide me. Best of all, he listened. He didn’t just steer me to properties, but also away from properties he felt were unsuitable for one reason or another. I never felt pressured or rushed. Ted was patient and explained every step of the process to me. He made the buying experience one that was exciting, educational, and low stress. I couldn’t be happier with the property I eventually settled on and continue to communicate with Ted from time to time. He’s become a trusted friend and advisor. I will definitely be using Ted for any future real estate endeavors and would happily refer my friends and family to him.

Todd S. Szwajkowski, an agent from Dream Town, sold me a property without disclosing material fact. The thermostat for the entire building is located in my unit. I would have decided to walk away from such unit right away if I knew. Todd blamed my agent, his Facebook Friend Mike Zuker and me for not being able to find out during inspection. While Todd sat in front of the thermostat (under the counter top, hidden location) the entire time we were there, whenever we were there. I further discovered more lies about the house, it was rented for 5 years in stead of 2 years and damaged, neglected by renters and owner. Further damages revealed as I live in the unit for 6 month, that inspector did not find out. Contacted Dream Town Realty many times about Todds lie, including Todds managing broker. never got any response. My agent Mike Z. Told me that he will sanction Todds and his company so they cannot conduct such dishonest business again, but not sure if that happened. they both made a commission, left me with devastation, and still FB friends. Todds dishonesty and his companys response to such matter makes me feel whenever you see dream town realty, be careful. stay away or at least make sure to inspect, understand every detail to protect yourself.

I found Dream Realty and thought I would give it a try. Bad choice. First, I felt passed over. Their site assigns you a Realtor, Paul Hettler was assigned to me. He spoke to me on the phone about reality, but then sent me an e-mail saying that the site "malfunctioned" and that a Ben Bodelson was really suppose to be taking care of me. Then Ben Bodelson contacted me and informed me of everything that was impossible rather than solutions or ideas. He let me know that no one would even look at me if I didnt have pre-approval(Not true, you need a pre-approval before you make offers, not before you look at listings) and that is the last I heard from him in a month. Then he contacted me inquiring about my search. I, of course, found someone who was willing to take the time to send me listings and stay in contact with me. I politely informed him that I located another Realtor and even went as far as thanking him for the help(which I never got). He sent me a very untactful response, "Youre welcome! Very glad I didnt spend any more time on this - thank you for letting me know!” I’m just curious, what time did he spend? No listings, no e-mails, nada and with people skills like that, I’m surprised anyone would go back to him.
