Ill start by saying that I really, really dread the thought of moving. I dread moving as much as I hate doing my own taxes. But because of career advancements and my places of residence changing ownership, Ive had the unfortunate luck of having to relocate four times in the past five years. Using professional movers had gotten a bit too expensive for me. Professionals are convenient, but a little too much for my budget right now. (Plus I have a few spare buddies wholl carry bags of wet sand for beer and pizza). So a couple of weeks ago after leaving Wrigley Field with those buddies (go Cubbies, right), we passed by Self Storage. I asked my friends to help me this time and I decided to come back later and check it out. I stopped in to only ask about prices and to pick up some boxes. Im glad I stopped in. I was impressed with this staff. They were knowledgeable, they answered all my questions and concerns. They were friendly too. I was blown away when they offered me a free truck to move my stuff, a free truck, as part of the services. In the past, Ive always went to that other company whose name kinda rhymes with "Who Call or Shoe Small or Two Wall" or whatever. Self Storage, in my opinion, treated me better than them. Now Im really hoping that I never have to move again... EVER! But if I do, this place is definitely my first choice. And yes, Im gonna sound cliche on purpose... This Wrigleyville facility hit a HOME RUN with me. Oh, and the Cubbies won that day too.

Where to start with this business. This business is using a variety of dishonorable business practices I couldn’t bring myself to sign a contact on a storage unit. First, during the walk through the employee said that insurance was required to be purchased through them. After reading the insurance requirements page, I found that it is in fact optional and you are covered through your renters insurance. Secondly they already charged my credit card for the month premium of the insurance and were not going to refund me for the coverage I didnt need. At the end when I decided not to sign a contract with them the manager refused to refund the "administration fee" of $25 as the paper work had already been created and I was responsible to cover their costs on that. If this is the aggravation I have to go through just to sign a contract, why would I continue to give you my business? I will be filing complaints with the BBB and my credit card company.

A friend of mine rents from this place of business and I told him I needed a good storage to rent from. He told me that this place was worth spending my money at and how accommodating the staff were to him. So, I went ahead and told him to call for me and make a inquiry for a unit. Unfortunately, when he called in, a new manager spoke over the phone and was so disrespectful to my friend. The man was impolite and gave him a attitude for no reason and didnt help whatsoever. The other manager Ted and the gal (he forgot her name) that helped him wasnt at this location that day and they were the ones that was so accommodating and professional stated by my friend. If I can give no star I would!!!!!

You really should be able to leave zero stars and this is one place that deserves it. Got attitude from the office ever since I moved in, never got calls returned, never answered emails (I wasnt living in the area for some time) and then the icing on the cake is when I did move my things they continued to bill me and call incessantly even though I called and emailed informing them of the cancelation. Worst customer service EVER. Im sure the positive reviews are pod for on some place like Fiverr where you can get a 5-star review for $5. Notice how most of the reviews are from people who dont even have profile pictures and the only one local guide. Totally fake reviews!!! Be aware!!

A few weeks ago I had an urgent need of finding a storage space, and I decided to check out the Self Storage 1 on N. Sheffield due to its proximity from where I live. I would like to say that, I had an outstanding customer service experience from the staff, especially from Penney who helped me with setting up my account. She is very customer service oriented, provided me with all the information that I needed (very detailed oriented and knowledge of the product), addressed my questions and concerns, and also followed up on action items that she noted which needed manager’s attention. I like the storage unit and the price. I would definitely recommend this place.

The staff is very friendly and their prices are competitive with the area. My reason for scoring them with a good vs. excellent rating is the condition of the building. The building is very old and the walls/ceiling paint falls off onto all of your stuff. They did warn me of this happening but made it seem like a small issue. Everything I did not cover/wrap with plastic is filled with quite a large amount of wall/ceiling particles. I am having to empty a lot of my things out and heavily clean them to alleviate all of the dust. My items were only in there for a month and a half. Just a warning to cover and wrap all of your items and youll be great.

Staff was always very helpful, friendly and usually available when I needed them. The facility is secure and safe and is conveniently located with easy access after hours. My storage locker was inundated with dust from he construction project. I didnt like the price increases after the first rental period. The first price increase I understood as my initial fee was an introductory rate. There seemed to be no reason for the second price increase. I went from around $85 month to $129 month for a relatively small storage space.

Signed up & moved in last week, and Colin was a dream- incredibly helpful, also patient & thoughtful with my questions (as it turns out, it isnt illegal to turn someones storage unit into a ball pit but it IS sort of frowned upon- you didnt hear this from me). Lots of great conversations in general, as you might imagine. Otherwise, a wonderfully straightforward process, excellent pricing, easy location- Im a happy customer. Glad I did my research and landed here. :)

A year ago we did some decluttering in anticipation of selling our condo. The staff was very helpful in finding just the right size unit for our needs at a very reasonable rate. When we found we needed to move to a larger unit they made it so easy!. One time I did not secure my lock correctly. The staff noticed and called me right away-that is great customer service!!The facility is very clean and easy to access.

I had a really great and seamless experience at storage 1 today. I was immediately helped upon arrival for my appointment and given a few locker choices to make sure I was happy with what I was given. Although I am only renting for one month they also still applied the 50% off discount which was really amazing since I am a student and only need this unit while between apartment moves! Great place :)

BEST service weve experienced looking for a storage facility!! Penny was so helpful showing my fiancé the unit even though he walked in just a few minutes before closing yesterday. This morning, Jonathan showed us another unit so I could check it out and when we decided to go with Self Storage, Giovanni was so helpful setting us up. Super friendly, top notch customer service. Thank yall so much!!!
