Ive been here on at least 3 or 4 occasions. First time I came in was for a brake job. Replaced all 4 pads, replaced rear rotors, and machined the front rotors. (Just under $500) However, a few months later, my rear brakes were acting up again so I went back for them to see what was wrong. The brakes looked pretty bad, but they offered to redo the work for discounted labor. Got new rotors and pads again in the rear. Slightly machined the front rotors again, I was warned the front rotors were starting to get thin and I should consider replacing the rotors. ($200+) About a year later (Oct 2010), my rear brakes start acting up again! The condition of the rear brakes look pretty bad again, almost identical to the first and second time I brought the car in. I gave them the history of the brakes in case they didnt have it in their system. They once again replaced the rear rotors and pads but this time also replaced the caliper. They told my my front brakes looked good and didnt need replacing (even though the told me the rotors were thin the previous time I was there). At the same time, I had an issue where my rear passenger door wouldnt open. I asked them to look at it. They spent 3 hrs on it and didnt get anywhere, but charged me the hours worth of labor to attempt it. Oh but I got the lovely parting gift of a ding on the opporsite door from when the guy was inspecting it and bashed the door into a tire rim they had hanging off a wall. Also, they told me that my tires were getting bald and showed me just how bald but sticking in this "gauge" that indicates how deep my tread was by showing a red (bad), yellow (intermediate), and green (good) zone. Little did I know, they were sticking the gauge on the outside tread grooves and not the center tread grooves where the tire meets the road. So of course, the gauge showed red (indicating that I need to replace my tires almost immediately). It wasnt until yesterday (Jan 2010) when I had my brakes looked at AGAIN (because they were squeaking) that they told me I had 7/32 to 8/32 of an inch left of tread on all my tires (indicating the tires were not worn and had PLENTY of miles to go. Yeah...WTF... (Anyway, this whole ordeal ran about $400+) I ended up going to a different shop immediately afterwards to see if they could look at the back door issue. Not only were they able to repair the door in an hour, they found a problem with the brand new rear brakes (because it smelled like it was burning) that Darien Tire & Auto replaced literally 20 minutes ago. I drove it back to Darien Tire & Auto again and they blamed it on defective parts. They replaced the set of calipers again after waiting for the parts shop to drop it off. (This was a really fun day for me...can you tell?) Thanks to that, Ive wasted quite a few hours researching tires and comparatively shopped around for the set I want for a decent price. All that research time was for nothing. Just to be fair, I have had 2 tune-ups performed there and a belt replacement there that went smoothly. Also the place has wifi so thats nice when youre waiting. Thats the reason for the extra star. But the fact that they either intentionally lied or incompetently didnt know to gauge tire tread (come on...Darien TIRE & auto???), was ultimately the final straw for me. That and the fact that Ive gone through 3 sets of rear rotors, 4 or 5 sets of brake pads, and 2 sets of brake calipers in the course of 3 years with these guys performing the work and procuring the parts doesnt speak well from a numbers perspective. Plus 70% of my driving miles are highway miles so my brake utilization shouldnt be that heavy anyway! Ive dealt with Steve, the bald guy, pretty much every time Ive been there. Im never ever going back.

I went in for an oil change last month. I also asked for them to check the brakes, tires, fluids & anything else that might need maintenance. I know a little bit about cars, & always ask to see what they are speaking about, if anything is recommended. After the oil change, Mark let me know that everything was looking good & I didnt need anything further. I believe that this is the first time that this has ever happened. I usually get at least one thing that needs to be done, if not something that is highly suggested. Being informed that everything looked good to them was a great feeling. I will definitely return to Darien Tire & Auto for future needs.

Place opens at 730 but the guy started opening the doors a couple minutes early and was even willing to help me out. My tire had a nail in it. the gentleman that helped me showed me where the nail was and even showed me how a plug works. unfortunately the tire needed to be replaced since the nail was on the side. I felt they were honest from the beginning telling me the wait times and showing me the actual nail. They had to order my tire so I left the car there and picked it up after work and everything was easy.

I brought my care here after NTB quoted me $1,800 for car repairs that didnt even include the problem I brought the car in for the first place. They said they couldnt hear the noise I was describing, but that I needed all new tires, all new struts, rear brakes and a tune-up. When I brought my car to Darien Tire & Auto, they found what was making the noise and all I needed to replace was the tires. Great quality for a great price, will never go back to NTB!

The Best Repair Shop around! This shop cares about your car as much as you do. They wont try and find a fake repair to do. They are honest about the condition of your car. If you can wait on a getting a repair done they will tell you without compromising your safety. I wont go anywhere else when i have a repair. The reason they are so busy is because they are good at what they do and their customers know it.

These two guys are the most respectable, honorable, helpful mechanics with which I have ever had an experience. Year after year they have serviced my cars and always found ways to save me money, fix the problem correctly the first time and never suggest repair of items that are not needed. I will never use another repair shop no matter what the problem with my cars.
