If you must rent a UHaul truck then avoid going to the Hoffman Estate, IL location (2475 Pembroke Av), the employees and their manager (Tyler Dewis) there don’t know a thing about customer service. First off I booked the 10’ truck well in advance for Sunday August 5th, 2017. So the morning of 8/5 I went there to pick up the truck and to my surprise they had rented out my reserved truck to other customer who came before me. I looked outside and saw couple 10’ trucks parked, I asked if I can get one of these but the guy said these are all rented out. I said then why you rented out mine and the reply was SORRY. I was ended up with a 15’ beat up truck. I complained but the guys at the counter said this is the only one they have if I wanted it. I was stuck since I had to move my daughter to campus that day so I took the 15’ beat up truck. I got this truck with less than half fuel tank, so at the end of day I filled up to that level and returned the truck. To my surprise, the next morning I received an email from Tyler Dewis (manager at this store) that he has charged credit card the extra $10 for not filling the tank to exact level as per contract (as he kept saying that). I challenged him on this and he asked me for a proof so I sent him a picture of a speedometer that I took before returning the truck showing fuel gauge at same level. But Mr. Dewis refused to accept and didn’t even reply to my email on my proof. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Quoted the shipping will be priority shipping to be delivered in 4-5 days There were few number of issues, but i am writing only few of them ISSUE#1 Ubox was delivered a week after then as regular shipping When i called store manager for status, he replied telling that no one will do priority shipping ISSUE#2 Few others told that they will callback and never hung up but never called back ISSUE#3 Finally they cancelled my order and created new order in which priority word is not mentioned ISSUE#4 They made very late, that costed me lot of money and affected my job, as i didnt worked for one whole week Even I updated that if my order successfull, there are few orders after me, but still they have no response Thise orders endedup up different shipping companies and were delivered in time (before my order was delivered) Even i filed a claim and i was told that i can except call in few hours, but still no response I will definitely not recommend to use uhaul/ubox

I was overcharged by $20 in my monthly fee, telling me it was a late payment fee, when I signed up for auto payment. I called and they acknowledged that it was a mistake and they will credit it back. Its been 3 weeks and they have not credit back anything to my account. Ive been hunting down Ben, the manager in Hoffman Estates facility because I was told hes the only one who can take care of it. I went to his office personally but he wasnt there on weekends. I was told at least 4 times that they will send the message to Ben, but again, its been 3 weeks and I didnt hear anything from this Ben. I was happy with Uhaul in the beginning but this Ben ruined it.

i didnt have a reservation but i was told over the phone 5 minutes before arrival to this location that there is 26 truck available. came to the counter and there was no employee for another 15 minutes. until i called nearby uhaul to let them know that the building is empty. then the lady came and said that all 17s 20s and 26s are reserved and there is nothing she can help me with. i came outside and called uhaul to make a reservation and was told that there is 17feet truck is available at this very location. usually the customer service of uhaul is good but not at this one.

This place was odd. First, I was questioned extensively about what I was going to do with the van I rented. As if I were going to use it to move a body, I would tell them. When the van was returned they refused to give my husband a receipt. They told him they would email it. I cant really hand the IRS an email. When I called about it they said they would have given him one IF he had asked. We have been married 30 years. There is no possible universe where he might not ask for a receipt over to hand me. Soo, just be aware they are odd.

I had no major issues when I rented a 10 Truck. I rented it around December 31st 2014 and returned it to the store in Madison Heights, MI 2 days later. more money than I would have preferred to spend, but probably the cheapest I could find, and certainly I got exactly what I was promised, and it functioned as they said it would, so I cant really complain. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the MI store took so long to get their act together. Its only maybe 20% this stores fault.

They have repeatedly parked their extra trucks in front of my unit and obstructed access. I have requested numerous times they move the trucks so I can access the unit, but it never works. I even called day prior to ensure there would be no truck parked in front of my unit, but when i arrived, lo and behold, my unit was blocked by a truck. Poor customer service and poor upkeep of the property as a whole. I will be moving to a different storage provided as soon as it warms up.

This was our first experience with this location. Service and reservation was excellent and prompt, their equipment was clean and the truck was in excellent condition. Transmission was perfect what I cannot say about numerous places where we rented from before. Very polite people, great bargain price and no problems at all. I would definitely go back. They mean business and value their customers. I hope they keep up the good work!

as a former employee of this location they are horrible. ben takes weekends off and leaves when he wants to. great guy but a horrible manager. i have a unit here as well and he wont help me at all with a late fee even though he will drop charges for anyone else. the guys that work there are great and will do anything for anyone. just cant get that flame lit under bens but to do his job. love my old crew but bens a joke.

forst they gave me issues before I even rented. then they told me if I needed it for an extra day its no big deal. rhen they call me and harass me to bring it back even though 5hey said to keep it of I needed. then they had me drop it off at 10 am because they had someone else renting it and still charged me for the entire day. fat , lazy and dishonest is how I describe their employees.

Pictures are worth 1000 words, but I have a few extra as well: it is not ethical to rent units knowing water damage and rust are in the surrounding units. Use only if you want poor service and moldy items covered in rust! EDIT: Upgraded to 3 from 1. After contacting uhaul customer service, they are going to try to help us out. We are not liable for the mess left behind in the unit.
