In summer 2016 I had a rear brake job done and immediately following, I experienced violent shaking and smoking from the rear passenger wheel whenever I would brake. I contacted Pep Boys to have the problem corrected, but I was unable to make my appointment as the problem had become so severe my vehicle was unable to be driven safely. I went to another mechanic, who fixed the problem and I took the receipt back to Pep Boys and they reimbursed me. Beginning in April of 2017, I experienced the same problem but now on the drivers side. Given the warranty included with the brakes, I contacted Pep Boys and scheduled an appointment. I arrived on time and was told that it would be a 2.5 hour wait because the shop was understaffed. I returned to my vehicle and contacted 1-800-PEP-BOYS to voice my complaint. While on the phone, I watched as two technicians stood outside smoking a cigarette before a third employee joined. The manager of the store called me to set up another appointment, but I have no faith in Pep Boys and will end up taking my vehicle to another shop.

Hah. Where to start. Take my car in for a simple oil change. Automotive 101 right? Not for PEPBOYS of course. Drive my car to work. Its leaking oil. Not enough to cause concern, and I thought maybe the oil filter just wasnt secured properly. So I decide after work to drive back to PEPBOYS to have them adjust and fix it. On the way back, my car starts jolting, I go to pull over and the car alerts all go off and bam, my car is dead on the side of the road. Took two hours for a tow truck that PEPBOYS sent to get me. Finally at PEPBOYS, the manager named Mike is rude as hell to me and my father, and tries to say "they dont know how the filter was cracked?" Really PEPBOYS? And to make matters worse, they couldnt even get my car to crank. All my automotive friends are telling me the engine is locked up. So yeah, if you want your car total losses, go to PEPBOYS in matteson, theyll do you right. Cant wait to see the payout for this one. And Ill be having my lawyer get in touch with you guys, real soon.

Customer service at this Pep Boys was horrible! I had two encounters where t hey were very curt and rude. The manager was disrespectful, and acted like she was going through menopause and taking it out on the customer. The other encounter was that the gentleman assisting me in the store didnt acknowledge me when he finally approached the counter, ignored me for minutes until I cleared my throat to ask for assistance, and then looked at me like I was the scum of the earth before telling me he couldnt help me and to go find someone else to assist me. I dont know if he was busy or wasnt on duties, or just didnt want to bother. Theres no excuse. That was bad customer service skills. How rude! I have never experienced any service like this! I took my service elsewhere to another Pep Boys.

The service people are frauds. After replacing my windshield wipers, the service guy placed one on top of the other to try and make it look like they were unaligned. He then brought me into the service area and tried to tell me that the windshield wipers would need to be moved at a cost of $200. I picked up the windshield and placed it back in its proper position. I then asked him if he made a habit of trying to defraud customers. he denied it and the manager did nothing about my complaint. I have warned everyone that I know against doing business with these unscrupulous people.

Theyre the classic roll in for a simple fix (tire), get a phone call saying "your XYZ is on the verge of breaking, you need an immediate fix. Its only going to cost $800!" Yeah. Ok. Brought it to a mechanic I trust; car was just fine. 6 months later, its still fine. Dont bother coming here for anything unless you want to be in fear of needing a brand new car. Total scam. Oh, and to replace a LIGHT BULB; $80. My mechanic replaced it for $10. Dont say I didnt warn you.

Honestly I like to shop inside the store. They have good INSIDE store service. On the other hand, the service on cars are terrible. I took my car there for a diagnostic test. I told them I had a oil pressure problem. Car has been there for almost a week and when they call me all they say is theres are oil compression problem and will take more money to diagnose. WHAT WAS I PAYING FOR THEN. A waste of almost $100. I all ready knew this. Stay away from service! :(

Never a reliable time frame for any repairs. Constantly over charge. Dropped my car off at 7:30am for repairs, 6pm they werent finished. Never bothered to call and let me know of issues that came up during the repair or to tell me my car wasnt going to be ready. Had to call multiple times to get any updates at all. Will not be going back for even an oil change.

I recently had brakes replaced at the Matteson Pep Boys. Received great service and price from Michael Bassett. I had previously encountered him at the Hodgkins Pep Boys for brakes 3 1/2 years. I was so pleased back then, that this time when I needed brakes, I tracked Mr. Bassett down at the Matteson Pep Boys.

Great staff in the shop.... really took care if my car with a difficult repair to my wheel. Took an extra 4 hours to do.... so youd expect a much larger bill right? Not here... they apologised for the delay with half off. 5 Stars

Very rude employees didnt want to help at all dont know about the repair shop but the store part employees were busy talking on their cell phones and I waited for 25 min to check out before I said forget it and walked out

Horrible customer service, no use of making any appointments because they never have any techs available, they seem to always be at lunch. Hard to evaluate their service when theres nobody around to do the work.
