As ex employee of cars of America. I wanted to let all the great customers that I was able to meet and serve that I LEFT cars of America because I could not deal with the constant pressure from Mr. Bob Dupre to inflate the labor times on repairs. What this means is that with the time being inflated the more you as customer paid. Now for those of you who dont understand this process, there is a set time for all auto repairs. The only difference is the labor rate and the year, make and model of the the vehicle, because there are different labor times based off those criteria. But the Mitchell guide to estimating has the set times already for all the years, make and models that all auto repair facilities must use. For customers that feel they have been over charged on the labor time of a repair you should look at your invoice and compare the labor Time to the Mitchell Guide time. Now there are some instances that some problems may occur and incur additional cost but I can assure you that it should not be that much of a difference. The problem with cars of America inc. is that they over exceed those times all in the name of making a higher profit margin which in turn creates a greater bonus. Bonus in the auto repair industry in my personal opinion compromises the integrity of what should be an honest estimate and service. Unfortunately some independent repair facilities do not belong to the Auto Maintenance & Repair Association which means that they are not mandated to use or adhere to the AMRA guidelines like the big name Repair facilities Pepboys, Firestone, Goodyear etc. Me not doing what Bob wanted caused my departure from cars of america. He looked for any opportunities to complain and even attempted other tactics to get me to increase the labor times. One tactic was to raise the labor rate by $5.01 with out mentioning it to me as a way to make up for me not inflating the labor time he also suggested to have me sent to the Glenview location to be trained on how to inflate the labor times. I was so worried about it that I recorded the conversation of Bob telling how to and why I should inflate the times back on 6/01/15. I recommend that all consumers really check all accreditation posted by any repair facilities to make sure that they are up to date and legit. This would help a great deal in choosing a repair facility. And for all those customers that felt that they paid to much for their repairs go back to your invoice and compare it with the labor time on repair pal our Mitchell on Demand

We have been going to Cars of America for many years and have referred several family and friends. They have been dependable and extend extraordinary service to customers. It feels like coming to family when we go for service at CARS. One extraordinary experience last winter I had my car in for service and had a loaner. I was at a meeting downtown and left the car key in my coat pocket. When I left the meeting another meeting participant had accidently taken my coat. I was on a street that had no parking after 2 PM and had no coat and no car key. I called CARS and they sent a person from Glenview to the city with another key and bailed me out of trouble. Incredible. I had to go home without a coat but it was returned a day later! What a great group of people, competent, caring and problem solving. My car guys!!!! Donna Frownfelter

We recently used Cars of America for our two cars--they both needed regular oil change appointments and new tires. Dana worked with me closely to help look at the options for the new tires and provided recommendations for both but was happy to look at other options for one of the cars after some questions that came up during my independent research on the tires. Our cars were fixed very quickly and the service provided by all the staff in terms of answering our questions was excellent. When one of our cars started making some different noises on the way home, we took it back to the shop and they were happy to examine the car and make sure everything was safe. As new customers, we are very happy with our first experience with Cars of America and would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I own a Toyota Sienna minivan that needed the air conditioning repair. My dealer wanted $1400. I hopped on Angies list looking for A-rated automotive shop and found Cars. I live in Deerfield which is a bit away. I called and spoke with Dana. He immediately put me on the schedule, told me in detail what the process would be and offered me a loaner car. He had me at "loaner". Within a few hours of having my van up in the air, they were able to diagnose the issues and offer solutions advising me of the benefits to each. In the end, I spent under $500, considerably less than what the dealer wanted to charge. I was so impressed with the whole experience that I have an appointment to bring in my VW Tiguan next Friday. The whole team at Cars deserves a 5-Star rating.

The folks at CARS of America always greet me with a smile and a hand-shake. They are friendly, courteous and professional. Recently, one of my warning lights came on. After a couple of days the repair was done, I paid my bill and returned home. The next day the light came on again. I returned to CoA. They worked on it for almost a week and got it fixed. And true to their guarantee there was no additional charge. And the problem has not reoccurred. Recently I gave my 1997 Subaru to my son. He took it to his mechanic to have it checked over. The mechanic reported that the previous owner must have really loved that car. He could find nothing wrong with it. Thank you Cars of America.

I have a problematic VW, but knowing the CARS team is always there to assist me whenever and wherever keeps me calm and mind at ease. They recently helped me when my car, stopped operating during rush hour on the Kennedy expressway. They called for a tow for my car, provided a loaner while repairing the problem and genuinely were concerned over the situation. The service team is so professional, knowledgeable and helpful always. Their mechanics are diligent and thorough, and will work til the problem is solved on you car. We have been loyal customers for many years and will continue, as they are EXCELLENT! I dont understand why everyone does not go to CARS - the only place for us and our cars!

We have been going to CARS for over two decades and at one time had 6 cars being maintained at once. We love the idea of the loaner cars and the crew is knowledgeable and friendly. With the large number of cars we needed to space our repairs out. Brian, Dana and Ken have always helped us space out our planned repairs so it is easier for us to plan economically. Our cars are always reliable, our new tires that we get thru CARS are wonderful, and the service keeps you coming back. We have all the confidence in the world in the mechanics and always know that our cars will be in great working condition. We continually recommend this shop. Keep up the good work!!! Karen
