Absolutely HORRIBLE. On 11/17/09 I was charged $370 for a front (supposedly FULLY warrantied) brake job. On 1/9/12 I returned to the store as my brakes were obviously going bad. I was given a quote for $245 and I was told at this time (by Mike, the manager) that in order for my warranty on my old brakes to be valid, I MUST purchase a new warranty on the new brakes, at an additional charge of another $30. So my supposedly fully warrantied brake job which cost me $370 was going to cost me $275? I immediately left the store after hearing this and later called to speak with the owner. I was told that the store was "corporate" owned. I then looked it up and found out that in fact it is NOT corporate owned, that it is a franchise! So I called back and he said, well it is owned by a small corporation. yea, Brex, Inc., d/b/a Carx. Complete deception. Regardless, at this point Mike acts as though he is trying to help me and states "You sound like an internet savvy guy and I dont want you leaving us a bad review and I want you to be happy so I could do the brake job for $180 plus tax, so basically $200." He also gave me this whole long thing about how it would be ok if I didnt purchase the new warranty that he would make an "exception" and not make me purchase the new warranty in order to keep the old warranty valid! I hang up the phone and on my way home that night I see a special at the Carx in Wheeling, IL for a front brake job with pads and NEW rotors (as opposed to machining which is what my quote was for) for $199. So he was basically now trying to give me the new advertised price (again only worse wit hthe machining of the rotors vs. new). Needless to say, I went to Autozone with my friend, bought pads & new rotors at retail price for $95 and installed them in 35 minutes with no lift. This store was blatantly deceptive in its practices with me, a longtime customer since the age of 16. I will never be returning. I called Carx corporate who finally got the "regional" something or other, to refund $54.99, the cost of the original brake pads. They sent a check for it. Real nice!

BEWARE, MIKE MANAGER IS DISHONEST!!! Ive worked at a mechanic shop so i know what to ask and expect. He quoted me $50 to simply resurface my front rotors over the phone. After making me wait in line and checking it they said it was going to be $100 for the SAME JOB! the machanic said he would "clean and lube" the pads which is suppose to be done with the resuface anyway! but they wanted extra $50.Clean and lube is just little sanding to your pads and little lube to a couple of bolts for $50 extra! what a joke. I made sure no charge if no repairs beforehand because i know the games shops play! I guess they got mad because I HAD GREASE MARKS ALL OVER MY DRIVER SEAT AND DOOR IN/OUT. OFCOURSE I MADE THEM CLEANED IT UP AND YOU BET THEY WERENT HAPPY ABOUT THAT TOO, SPITTING TOWARDS MY CAR AS I LEFT THEIR PARKING LOOOL. I went to firestone and they put me NEW PADS AND RESURFACE ROTORS FOR $120! JUST LIKE THE OTHERS SAY AVOID THIS PLACE. ONLY PEOPLE WHO GO THERE ARE CLUELESS~! THE STAFF LOOKS INCOMPETENT AND THE EQUIPEMENT LOOKS OUTDATED. AVOID!

Im from Milwaukee and have been in this location for a car check because I heard noise comig from front wheel. First, I went to Firestone near from this shop. I told them Im traveling please just checked the car. They said they were booked and couldnt do it and asking me to come tomorrow. Then looking for another shop and found Car x where I stopped by. The shop was about to close and I was lucky to meet Mike who embarrassed me for his generous and respectful words. They took a drive test and solved the problem. Then, Mike did charge me NOTHING ($0.00) and wish me a safe trip to home. I highly recommend this shop. Thank you so much guys. You safe my family life.

I have received nothing but outstanding service at this store. My first experience with Mike was over two years ago, when I brought my car in because of an annoying rattle in the engine area. He resolved the issue quickly, handed me the key, and told me that there was no charge. Since that time, Ive taken our family cars in for oil changes,as well as for exhaust and tire issues. When appropriate, I especially appreciate Mike taking the time to actually show me the cause of a car problem, the approach that will be used to rectify it, and his desire to make sure that all of my questions are answered. I highly recommend this store!!

Beware of Lichtman hi do bad service!My rizon was to repair car for to past emission test;First charged was $339.77/collant temp sensor/and no pas the test so I returned to the shop and I was charged again $433.66/fuel air ratio sensor/which was not necessary to exchange/and say to me is ready to past test but again is not!Decided to not spend more money on,because they not professionals.I go other service to fix my car and finally repair!One more thing my car is 2006 so is not that old.The money did not give me back which I pay for it.I do not know how someone like lichtman working with people on front desk?!

I have used Car-X-Skokie for several years and have confidence the repairs are always done correctly and as quickly as possible. Mike, John, and the whole team are great to work with and are always helpful in determining the work that is needed to keep my Subaru running smoothly. Many times Mike will make suggestions on items to watch that will need repair down the road. No repairs are completed without a thorough explanation of why they need to be done. This is an excellent repair shop!

I called Mike, the manager, to ask about how I can get my tire off my car because it was stuck. I needed to put my spare on and the flat wont come off. My gave me exactly what I needed to do and even explained why this had occurred. I am grateful I was able to call Mike and get an immediate answer. I didnt get put on hold or anything. He even said to call him back if I ad any other issues. Thanks Mike!

Frank , the manager runs the finest auto repair operation I have ever seen. He takes care of his customers, tells you what is needed and why , provides a fair price - offers coupons if they have them- and gets the work done in a timely manner. You take it, they fix it and you dont return for that problem. Ask for Frank.

Broke one of my front sway bar end links and needed it fixed fast. They replaced both for me with quality parts in a half hour! Always had a great experience wit CarX and the one in Skokie was excellent. They fixed what was needed and told me what could wait. Honest guys and a clean shop.

Mike has helped me repeatedly with maintenance on my car. Him and his team are always ready and willing to cooperate and understand the needs of the customer and the customer service is top notch. Definitely reccomend these guys to anyone needing service done
