Imagine working out and feeling great after exceeding your fitness goal of the day. You are taking a shower, never knowing that, horror movie music should be playing in the background. You spot the smiling friendly staff member Corina and you smile back. Everything is okay. Yeah Right You step out the shower and head to the locker. At the very same time that your towel needs to be fixed, you realize that there is a male staff member directly in front of you. WOW! Doesnt Corina have some sort of leadership role in this place. How did she feel it was okay to allow a man to be in the womens locker room when women are in the shower? Now I am livid and feel violated by Corina. The man was just doing his job and was respectful. Especially when, I stepped to the side and ask the man to leave the locker room so that I can get to my locker. Shortly after getting dressed Corina returns to the locker room with the man behind her. She once never checked to see if the ladies where dressed or anything. I asked her why did she not warn me that a man would be in the locker room. She claimed that she asked me another lady and I if we woukd be coming out of the shower soon. She said, "No one answered sooo.. " with a confused look on her face and arms and shoulders in a shrugging manner. She never apologized once. I walked away from her and spoke to Brian at the front desk. He apologized continuously and answered my inquiry about who Corinas boss is. Her boss apologized also and said that he would talk to Corina. Yet, I still feel violated and pissed. Why did that girl feel it was okay to do things in the manner that she did. How is it okay to not ensure women are dressed when a man is in the room or near? LA Fitness at Lakehurst has got to do better. I still feel as if things were taken lightly.

I decided to write this review after getting daily phone calls from them, I guess theyre trying to lure me back to the gym. I have cancelled my membership last year because of customer service, especially that Ro**rt guy. Ever since he took over as a manager there everything went downhill. I wonder why he got the job without any interpersonal skills at all. My problems started with membership cancellation way back when they only asked members to send a cancellation letter to the corporate office to cancel membership. I did just that but didnt realize they kept on charging my credit card for the next few months. They claimed they never receive my letter (which is a form downloaded from their website). I had to dispute the charges with my CC provider and finally they refunded the charges but only for 2 months. Later I found out there was a class action lawsuit on the same issue, which they settled by giving ex-members a 3-month free membership. Gladly I re-enrolled last year to take advantage of the free membership. Now they have changed the cancellation process to be done right away at the gym, no more letters. Anyway, I didnt renew my membership after the 3-month was over, just because I didnt like the attitude of the gym staffs. The hot tub was always out of order and when it was open, it was always dirty, not to mention the dirty locker room. I guess the cheap rate of $29.99 a month brought in too many rough crowds which made me feel out of place. I have now joined a better gym closer to home and its just $10 more. My advise for newcomers is to get a 3-day free pass first and judge for yourself whether this gym is right for you even though the rate is low.

The staff has no gym-etiquette expectation from its customers, which made my customer service experience worse. You literally have to search for weights you need because no one puts anything in its rightful place. For such a new place, it is quickly becoming filthy and increasing stinks like feet. The gym floor looks like the streets of Times Square after New Years because so many people just toss paper towels on the floor after wiping the benches off. And the staff? Do nothing!!! The only thing worse than the miserable LA Fitness Waukegan staff are the customers I think the staff are truthfully afraid of the customers because the management does care that the place rampant with "wanna-be" tough-guys who couldnt care less to come in and have a serious workout. These kids come in, not dressed for a gym and work out in groups of 5. You have idiots bouncing basketballs on the weight room floor jeopardizing the safety of anyone with real weight above them. There are beer/liquor bottles in the parking lot no one cleans up; everyone parks where ever the hell they please whether its an actual parking space or not. If youre looking for a cheap gym, forgo the headache of this God awful place and go to something like a Snap Fitness or pay the extra buck and go to a Golds or Xport. Worst gym membership Ive ever had. HANDS DOWN!

Horrible Staff and Money Scam er!!! Beware when you sign up with LA-Fitness!!! Word of advise, please go over your contract thoroughly before you sign and do not let them talk you into any membership until you have it in writing. Especially, I would not trust the guy Robert who works at this location. He made a lot of false statements in order to get me to sign up for the membership. 1) I was told that once you join LA-Fitness you have to pay only a one time initiation fee and no matter if you discontinue and return at a later time I will not be charged any additional fees except the monthly dues that I was offered. FALSE!! I just found out that was not the case from the person I spoke to at corporate. 2) LA-Fitness have been charging us an additional $10/month for over year from what we had agreed upon because Robert trick the system to get the sale and when everything said and done he made adjustments that is costing us. 3) No one at the fitness center nor corporate is willing to help. And now they want us to talk to Robert and resolve the situation and I cannot even get a hold of him. I learned my lesson the hard way. I hope you dont make the mistake of joining LA-Fitness especially through Robert!!!

Very disappointing. Only ONE CHEAP FLOOR fan in bike room. NO ceiling fans or other fans in bike room and is miserably hot and stinky during bike classes. The bikes are used bikes from one of the other LA Fitness locations on the north shore from many many years ago. Instructor equipment sucks! Music Speakers for classes are blown! New management has come in but no changes for ceiling fans or floor fans for the bike room??? In regards to weights, looking for pulldown bars is a hunting expedition every day! When I asked Keegan To purchase new pulldown bars or at least have a few available that were not easily able to be taken from the weight area or machines, or the building for that matter, I was continuously blowing off! I do have to say the place is much cleaner recently since new management has come in however, there is still a lot of attention to detail the corporate needs to give management approval to do. It upsets me that I am paying family Membership dues Per month for shawdy equipment.
