Just went in to this pep-boys a day or two ago to have my 2000 jeep grand cherokee looked at because it was over-heating at idle(sitting/stationary)i keep up with all the maintainace and fluids as recommended by the manual and it is in a top-notch condition...i knew it was not the radiator because i just replaced it....the first time i did the work myself,not a hard job at all but i over tightened the bottom line and cracked it unfortunatly..so i decided to take that chance and have pep-boys do it just because if something went wrong there would be warranties and they would repair again at no charge because it was there work...i payed around $850 for the work,radiator,upper and lower hoses,oil change and a oil sending unit...pricey but did it anyways.....now about the 2days ago...just before going in i had noticed my fan motor was not spinning,so i reached in gave it a tap with my fingers and it started running...i also noticed it was not moving very fast and would spark every so often from inside the motor...this led me to believe it was the fan itself causing the problem,there was also the chance of the relay that tells the fan hey the engine is hot turn on and cool it down....this was not my case....so i had pep-boys take a look at it for like $40 to confirm my findings...after about a hr or two they came out and told me my fan was shorting out and my relay was bad,so i thought okay how much for both and the labor(thinking around $200)and asked the guy exaxtly that...his reply was $800somthing,a little under or over the other repair i had them do for $850 dont remember exact number.....i told him no thank you and that i would buy the parts myself and do the work....i went to AutoZone rite after and picked up a fan for about $102,put it in today(10mm socket,1/2 inch drive....it took me a total of 5 bolts,30 minutes of time and removing the small plastic piece that connects to air filter box by hand(no tools)and that was it....put the new one in and what do you know?????i saved $750 of them trying to rip me off basically and i am no longer running hot when at idle/stationary....why????because i replaced the bad fan and the relay is fine because it is telling that fan hey,engines hot turn on and it does just that with no shorting out or sparks...worst experiece ever with this place and i would recommend going elsewhere,unless you like being ripped off,being lied to about what is exactly wrong with your vehicle and paying for parts and labor you dont need....maybe the mechanics here just suck and should be working on bicycles instead of vehicles...honestly i dont know the case but its probably all the above....(WAUKEGAN PEP-BOYS)do yourself a favor and save some money...dont go here and avoid at all costs.....BEWARE....you have been warned.........hope this helps all you people out there needing work done to your car.........

I got new brakes and rotors put on for a road trip. I picked up the car the day before i was leaving. I had loads of feedback in my pedals when i was braking. Unfortunately i didnt have the time to take the car back. When i got to my final destination i took my car to the shop and they said i needed new rotors. Even though i just paid pep boys $900 for new brakes and rotors. Such a waste of money. The shop said based on the rust on the rotors it looked like they were never replaced.

Beware of shady salesmen here. The assistant manager Alex told me that they tell people over the phone a lower price and then upsell price after service is done. He said its one of there "tricks". I called three different Pep boys and they all quoted me a lower price for the exact same service Alex did. I called the store manager and told him about this and he offered no solution. But if you read the reviews you can see they do this a lot. Take your business elsewhere

I paid for an alignment and the car still pulled to the right. I took it back and they said I need new tires. I got an alignment at Fast Tire in Antioch and my car drives perfect now, WITH THE SAME TIRES ON. Pepboys couldnt do the job right and tried to sell me new tires which would NOT have fixed the problem! Some of the mechanics dont even speak English. PEPBOYS DOES NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE THE MECHANICS AT FAST TIRE IN ANTIOCH.

The staff lied to me to get a tire sale even after I explained to them that i did not live near Waukegan. The tire i purchased didnt fit my vehicle and also didnt match my receipt. They are scammers with bad service and the manager needs to take accountability for his poor staff. The cashier also had a terrible attitude and moved slowly as possible. Worst experience ever!!!!

Read the reviews before you come in! Customer service here is awful in service department. Alex and Brian need a lot of training. Take your business elsewhere. They trick people into coming in for a low price and then raise the price after the service is done. Beware of salesmen here

I ordered tires at this place went to go get them installed and I was told that the computer will not let them put those on my SUV but the computer told you that the tires will fit when I went to you guys in the 1st place. Ive never heard of such bulsh*t in my life

Beware of salesmen here. Store manager Brian and assistant manager Alex lie about prices for services over The phone and up sell you when you get there. Bunch of con artists. Take your business elsewhere. If there was less then one star the would get it!

Worst experience ever! Bryan ran the place as if he owned the entire company! Very uncomfortable situation when he over charged me for my brake and rotor job! I should have read the reviews before I even attempted to step foot in the place!

Driving in heavy rain with worn out wipers. Pulled into pep boys, in less than the time it takes to fill up at a gas pump, my wipers were chosen, paid for, and installed( by them). I was off in minutes with a clear windshield. Amazing

Terrible service, the general manager bryan and his assistant Alex were very inconsiderate and disrespectful.i was over charged for services that I didnt even receive! Please go to any other store other than this location!!!!
