I cannot emphasize enough how great this place is. As a 20-something female who knows absolutely nothing about cars, I get such anxiety whenever I have to take my car in. I stumbled upon this place through yelp and it was truly a stroke of luck that I found it, as I needed an oil change ASAP for a trip I was going on the next day, and it was the only place that could take me right away. From the moment I walked in I had wonderful service and felt welcomed with the friendliest guy around, Ron. He is funny and I loved hearing about his interesting life. It turned out that my tires were in bad shape, and he took me in to show me the damage to the treads and one wheel. I was pretty shocked to hear that I would need two tires and a wheel replaced--something I had not budgeted for! But, Ron was great at explaining why it was vital to get these replaced. Something about the environment in this place--so clean, so well organized, very efficient--told me that I was not being scammed. I loved that Ron said "I put my heart into every one of the cars I work on," and I could tell he was serious. Being told that he would not let his kids drive my car on a long trip like I was about to take convinced me to listen to his advice and get the tires and wheel replaced. Ron worked very hard to get the wheel in on time for me the next day since I was going to drive 7 hours after the service. I was so impressed that he had it by 1 p.m. that next day, when I hadnt even called to confirm until 5:30 p.m. the day before. The service time seemed reasonable and I didnt mind hanging out in their very comfy and sunny lobby for two hours while I waited. The most impressive part to me was that Rons estimate was within a dollar of what he had told me! A giant feeling of relief considering the extensive repairs were not a cheap fix and I had nightmares of the estimate being wayyy off (which has happened to me elsewhere in the past). All in all, a very reasonable price for all services that were given and the most personalized experience possible. I live in Chicago but work part time in Gurnee, and will absolutely be back and plan to make this my go-to place for any servicing.

As a new resident of the Waukegan area, I was eager to find a highly-recommended, reputable auto service shop in the area. After doing some thorough research online, I turned to Sunset for my automotive needs. I couldnt be more pleased with the level of service and overall professionalism I received. Ron Alesi was my go-to guy from the first day I brought the car into his shop. He and his team fully assessed the needs for the car without ever pressuring me into pricey, hasty decisions. He helped me to understand - in laymans terms - exactly what issues my car had, and what fixes were most essential. He was always willing to take on my additional inquiries - always available and willing to take time out of his day to email me back and forth with courteous, yet straight forward and honest correspondence. Im glad I turned to Ron and his team. I really appreciate the quality work and the high level of professionalism they all have to offer. I will be returning to Sunset Automotive for my future car repair and maintenance needs.

If Sunset Automotive in Waukegan was a woman....Id marry it in a heart beat. 2 days ago, I was stranded (just so happens right in front of a Pep Boys)...so I PUSHED the car (Cavalier) to it by myself and had them run a diagnostic. Everything from getting some face time with a tech there cost money. EVERYTHING. They ended up finally giving me a total on what the car needed. I almost lost it. I told them to push it to the parking lot and LEAVE IT. Id figure SOMETHING ELSE out. A friend had referred me to Sunset in Waukegan before I had purchased the car and told me if I ever needed maintenance, to call this shop. The office manager was INCREDIBLY nice, thorough, and patient. The owner even came out..introduced himself and let us know they would handle the problem and not let us leave with an incomplete/less than perfect job. I ended up saving over $150 compared to Pep Boys price...AND it was done in a fraction of the time. I really suggest this shop for speedy, reliable, and honest service.

I love this place! This was my second time going to Sunset Automotive in Waukegan. Both times I had had excellent experiences. I like that they take you to your car so you can physically see what is wrong with it. You are more than just the car repair you bring in, they genuinely care about their customers safety, which is fantastic. Flor & Jessica are AWESOME! Both are very personable, super nice & very knowledgeable. They have helped me both times I have come in to find the best possible parts for the best possible price. The parts that have to be ordered for my car have come in quickly - the same day or the following morning. Flor has worked with me as far as paying for the extensive work that needed to be done, which I am extremely grateful for, as most repairs are surprises & not expected. I would recommend Sunset Automotive to anyone who needs a car repair. I totally trust them with my car 100%.

I had a great experience coming to Sunset Tire & Auto Repair dealers I found them to be top notch in service! Also the service manager Ron Alesi provided excellent customer service a good listener with respect and helping me find a way to understand the problem to my car and solve this problem? Other dealers business I have encountered made me feel as if I was just a dollar sign that walked into their place of business. Sunset Tire & Auto Repair is making sure I the customer is happy with the results of the Repairs made that’s important, and that’s a crucial point to any customer. I have used several shops in the Waukegan, Gurnee, and Libertyville area in the past with both good and bad experiences. For this repair, I wanted to use a shop that honored the Car Care One Credit Card so I found Sunset Automotive online and checked out their reviews. It is totally impressive to read all the 5 Star reviews and the great comments and recommendations made. I contacted Ron and found him to be as good as advertised...he is super to deal with and gave me an honest appraisal of my repair needs, and what I needed now to get the car safely back on the road. Their pricing is very fair and was actually 25% less that the estimate I received from my regular shop. I have found a new repair shop for all my cars for the future and I highly recommend everyone in the area to do the same. Sunset Automotive is the only place to take your car for repairs and regular maintenance. They get 10 Stars from me!
