I have been coming to Gages Lake Auto for 7-8 years, I was referred to them by the tow company they use. (Who I have been very happy with.) I have never had a bad experience at Gages Lake Auto. From Todd at the front desk, who is always polite and helpful. He answers all of my questions thoroughly and is always ready with suggestions and expert advice. I have never felt that I am being taken advantage of regarding unnecessary repairs and/or higher prices. For example, I needed my air bag mechanism repaired which would have been a $400 job. Todd did some research and found out that hidden in my warranty was a clause that Honda had to repair it free of charge at one of their dealerships. They gave up a $400 job so I was able to get a serious repair done at no charge. That says it all. I was also able to take care of a recall issue at the same time. I highly recommend Gages Lake Auto. They provide a service that no one else I have gone to has provided which makes my life so much easier. Courtesy vehicles. I dont have anyone to help me during the day, so this is an invaluable service. If you are looking for a mechanic for any reason, I highly recommend checking out Gages Lake Auto.

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser with 100K miles that was failing emissions testing due to a bad catalytic converter. The first shop I took it too wanted $1,000 for the repair ($700 parts, $300 labor). I decided to try Gages Lake Auto instead and am very happy I did. I explained that due to the age of the car I didnt want to spend too much on the repair. They understood my needs and offered to install a universal catalytic converter for $410. After the installation they drove the car until the computer began reporting emissions data to verify the problem was completely resolved. I was impressed they did this because the first (more expensive) shop told me Id have to bring the car back myself the next day after driving it a while. They were out of loaner cars the day I went but gave me a ride to the train station so I could get to work. They went the extra mile every way they could and I will definitely use them again.

We have been going to Gages Lake Auto almost as soon as it bought the location from Paul. We loved Paul and wondered how another shop could be as trusted as Paul was. Well, Gages Lake Auto is on the same level. We have 6 cars that they have worked on. Marc Le Blanc is a trustworthy owner. He is fair, honest and very accomodating to our needs. Marc really cares about his customers and has been known to call us if he perceives that there is any problem. They get us in to fix our cars quickly, do a professional job, and when they say that it will be ready, it always is--usually sooner. Also, they always provide us with a loaner. I am very happy to do business with Marc and his employees. There is a nice feeling to call a place of business and have them know who you are. I would highly recommend this auto shop.

I have taken my cars to GLA for some time. I can say that Mark, Todd and the rest of the crew do great work for reasonable prices. The work gets done when they say its going to get done. They are friendly and always advise me of my options and prices. I first came to this shop after being told by another shop that I needed a new AC compressor. GLA took a look and determined that a valve needed replacement. Saved me a pile of money on that one! They have been especially helpful as my car gets older, in helping me decide whether to continue repairing or replace. In short this is a great business that cares about its customers, is thoroughly knowledgeable about the work, is customer-friendly, offers loaner vehicles, and gets the job done right the first time. Highest recommendation!

We have been using Gages Lake Auto for over 6 years. They are honest, straightforward and have very competitive prices. Their customer service is fantastic and I feel very confident using them. I never feel they over sell repairs or pressure us into doing unnecessary maintenance. They tell you upfront what all the costs will be and there are no surprises. They stand behind their work. One of our cars is much older and they help us asses what is really necessary to do without over investing the the car. They made a point to get to know us as a family and not just as a customer with cars that need maintenance or repairs. They provide free loaners if needed. We highly recommend them!

I have taken my vehicles to this shop for the past 15 years. Never pressured to make a quick decision or spend money unnecessarily. Everything is explained simply and helpfully. The staff has always been friendly and treated my wife and I like family. I have referred neighbors, friends, and visiting family (needing emergency repairs!) over the years and have always heard good feedback. I havent needed a courtesy car every time, but has been nice to know one was available if needed. Recently found out that they opened another location in Lake Villa. Not a surprise they are expanding. Will continue to recommend.

Great, great place!! All our cars have used Gages Lake Auto from used ones to new ones. Raising all 7 of my kids in the area, we have had lots of cars....as theyre almost all out of college now, some still bring their cars to Gages Lake Auto even though theyre in Wisconsin now!! They are friendly and explain everything well.......I live in CA now and even call them for advice which they freely give over the phone. Once with Gages Lake Auto, its hard to switch or leave....they have been most kind to our family and especially kind to our cars, from station wagons to Lexus cars. I recommend highly!

Great place to get your vehicle serviced. Very good work at a fair price! Used them several times on 3 different cars and every time was good! Fuel pump, Tuneup, new belts, timing issues fixed... Thanks GLA *** Update *** 8-17-13 I just got my 1998 (200K miles) Chevy Van back with the transmission rebuilt Great job! again and the cost very fair, I priced around and they beat the competition. I used a courtesy car for a few days and that helped me get around while they got the job done. GLA is the place to go, Thanks Mark, Todd and Team (J. Lippeth and family)

Great service. My first visit, so a little nervous as I was bringing my vehicle in for what I thought was going to be a transmission issue. To my great surprise, it was not a transmission issue. I knew there was an issue with the radiator as well, so had them fix that since I was not going to buy a transmission. Done right, on time and at a very competitive cost. One success does not make a track record but I am thrilled to say, I will be coming back for a second chance and looking forward to making Gages Lake Auto "My Garage" Thanks guys!

Ive been using GLA for about 10 or more years. I typically buy used cars, so maintenance is just part of that decision, and so I have had used their services frequently and for a variety of issues (They now know me by name when I walk in). They always discuss the issues and give you several options of how to deal with the issue, and they dont try to "up sell" a bunch of stuff that you dont really need done. They try to get you in and out with a car that works for the lowest cost. I dont go anywhere else, and I send all my friends to GLA also.
