Being our first time renting an storage unit. The experience was very positive. I went online and reserved a unit, I filled out the pre-lease that was available to me at time of reservation. The very next day they called me and sceduled an appointment to come take a look at it and sign the final paperwork for the lease. When my husband and I got there we were greeted and she let us know that we were going to be taking a ride on a golf cart to go and take a look at the unit to decide if it was right size for us. As we cruised to the unit she explained all the procedure of the leading process in great detail. It was nice to know what was expected to happen. It so happen it was a bit small so we opted for a slightly larger one that once again we went and seen. This one is upstairs and has a lift for your things. She explained the way it works in great detail to us, once again making our first experience a very lasting good impression. After all said and done we went back to the office for the final signing of the lease which only took a few minutes and once again was very nice experience. She explained the leases details in great detail as well as the storage insurance. Over-all it was less painful then I ever imagined, you can even say it was a joyful experience! Thanks Extra Space Storage for making it a great lasting experience!!

I called the facility and an employee named Sean in West Mifflin told me that the building was being renovated and I had to show up before 1PM. I rushed to pack my car and drove 30 mins to West Mifflin. The office was empty and it turned that the employees were having a team meeting until 1PM. So, I had to unpack my car (I was taking it to the mechanics and had planned to empty it in the storage locker), then repack it and drive it back to the locker after 1PM. So, basically, Sean wasted about 4 hours of my life. The manager was very nice. She told me that Sean had realized his mistake but for some reason hadnt bothered to call me. The manager is very nice, although she couldnt give me any money off my bill (or those 4 hours of my life back). Im guessing Sean wasnt reprimanded, even though who knows how often hes giving out bad info and wasting customers time. You should know that the "first month free" is a lie: you still have to pay about $24 in fees. Overall, this place is okay. I stored my stuff there for a month and nobody stole it. But I really dont trust a place that employs low-quality people like Sean. Is he still giving out bad info to customers? How can you trust this place?

I was originally happy to find a near-by and customer friendly, and somewhat affordable (it is Bloomington afterall) storage unit facility. Two things I would be aware of: Firstly, a document announcing a fairly substantial rent increase was returned to Extra Space Storage due to me relocating. So the rent increase went through my auto-pay without me knowing. Now the only way I knew that the postal service had returned it to Extra Space is because I inquired via the telephone. Sure enough, staff found the mail back in their possession without notifying me by other means that were available to them such as email or telephone. That is just lame. Secondly, I was paying additional fees for a climate controlled unit. I went back to Bloomington over the Christmas holiday and knew that the units were not heated sufficiently for my take on that service. I had fine art in storage. Sure enough, some of my artwork did become contaminated with mildew from being stored at such lower temps and without adequate circulation. Unfortunately, the insurance doesnt cover restoration in this case either. In the end, I am disappointed with the services I paid for.

I had an uncontrolled climate indoor unit. The building is poorly constructed and the floors are not sealed properly. Moisture seeps up from the ground. We stored our stuff in January and in May we found mold and mildew all over our stuff. Anything that was on the ground was covered in condensation. We alerted the on duty manager. That didnt do us any good. The on duty manager told us to file a claim against our insurance. Then we were told "that happens in a uncontrolled climate units." I use to live in a swamp in Virgina and all the same stuff was stored in my garage. Never did I have a problem with mold in my garage and in there was twice the humidity. Plus the on duty manager was going to have the manager call us. That never happened. When we moved out there was mold and mildew on the walls and the building had a very musky smell to it. Sadly the complex didnt offer us another unit to move our stuff too, and the mold/mildew problem grew bigger as time went on. I guess this storage unit doesnt care about their customers or employees health...let alone their customers stuff.

This is the 5th year Ive lived in Btown and Ive used Extra Space Storage for the past two years. I know how much of a pain it is to figure out where to keep your things during those weeks in between leases. For the first 3 years I researched and called around Btown looking for the nicest storage places at the most affordable prices and had the worst luck. Take it from me (years of experience) dont waste your time calling, driving around and getting stuck putting all your nice belongings in a sketchy run down garage in the middle of no where... Extra Space Storage is BY FAR the best. Hopefully me posting this comment saves a few people time and money... Wish I would have saved all the trouble & money in the past by using Extra Space Storage from the beginning! I sure could have used their savings and convenience during my first 3 years in Btown.

Starting online, the website was easy to navigate, and all the information I was looking for was readily available, including price. I was able to immediately talk to a representative online, who answered all my questions. I rented a unit and got a call within 5 minutes from Joel, the manager on site. He set up a time to meet that day, allowing us to immediately begin using our unit. We met him at the facility and he found us a unit. Of note, the first unit had endured hail damage and had a leak, so he immediate found us another one with no delay. Once he made sure the unit was what we needed, he took us to sign our lease, explaining everything and answering every question. Amazing customer service!!!! Would highly recommend!

How do you make renting a storage unit a pleasure?? You employ people who REALLY care and offer excellent customer support!!! We needed a particular type of unit for my sons college dorm room things. Seemed like we waited too long to sign up, as all units were sold out. Enter Amanda at ExtraSpace Storage Bloomington. Amanda went way out of her way to track down a tenant who was moving out later in the week and offered us the unit. A lifesaver! Amanda also helped us get the contract signed without having to be in Indiana. There are several other storage places in Bloomington, but none with the kind of customer service we got from Amanda at ExtraSpace Storage. I recommend this facility highly!!
