I bought my 2nd NEW VW from Sam Swope (formerly Clapp), now Volkswagen of Clarksville, in March, 2015. When I purchased my Jetta, I was told scheduled maintence services INCENTIVE for 10K, 20K, and 30K miles were included. At 10K miles, I took my Jetta to Sam Swope Volkswagen for my scheduled maintenance. At 20K miles I took my Jetta to Bauchman (they are closer to my home in KY) for my scheduled service. That is where I learned I DID NOT have scheduled maintenance for my Jetta at 20K or 30K miles, as I was told was included when I purchased my car! I called Volkswagen of Clarksville immediately to inquire about this situation. I was told from the Service Manager that ONLY the 10K mile scheduled maintenance was included, NOT the 20K or 30K mile scheduled maintence! I called twice that day and left a message and have yet to hear back from them, 1 week later! I learned that even though I was told during the buying and financing process at Sam Swope Volkswagen scheduled maintence for my 2015 Jetta, was included for 10K, 20K and 30K was included, was a lie! I have taken my car back to Bauchman Volkswagen where I had to pay for my 20K oil change. Bauchman took excellent care of me! I WILL NEVER purchase another car from Sam Swope Volkswagen/Volkswagen of Clarkswagen again! Is this the kind of customer service you want from Volkswagen of Clarksville?? We love the Volkswagen product, and I couldnt be happier that we purchased a 2nd NEW VW PASSAT in September, 2015, from Bauchman! We have 3 VW and how disappointing that Sam Swope Volkswagen/Volkswagen of Clarksville has not responded!

While all the people at the dealer were nice, it doesnt change that fact that they use the same tactics as every other car dealer. First, they make up some reason why they can’t honor their online price (in this case it was because I wasnt trading in a VW), then they make up reasons why they won’t honor their online specials, in this case it was a "$500 college credit" where even though I am a college graduate as of two years ago and my wife is currently in college they said that you had to be a "recent" graduate. Ok, that is to be expected, most car dealers do the same stuff. Then they follow the typical car dealer trend and start out with a really high price on the car and a really low offer for the trade in (well below the lowest value on KBB or nada). Eventually after telling them I know what my car is worth and I know what their car is worth and telling them the maximum I would be willing to pay, they of course came back with a number ever so slightly higher than my maximum (all dealers seem to do this too). We eventually struck a deal $4,500 less than their original offer but still 1000-2000 higher than what I should have paid. Then to top everything off they come out with some story like they won’t be making any money on the car and how other customers werent getting as good of a deal as we were (blah blah blah). It really irritates me being blatantly lied to regardless of if it’s the norm or not. The entire process also took about 4-5 hours, which gets very tiring. Bottom line is no matter how nice they seem, they still try to rip you off just like any other dealer end of story.

Over the Memorial Day weekend I was driving my Volkswagen Beetle from Maryland to Indiana. Along the way the key got stuck in the ignition and I was not able to get it out nor turn off the engine. I had to leave it running while stopping for gas and at rest stops. When I got to Indiana I drove into Sam Swope Volkswagen of Clarksville. Keith Meredith and Leonard (sorry I didnt get his last name) couldnt get the key out either. They said that they would have to order a new ignition switch, which wouldnt be there until the holiday weekend was over and after I had to leave back for Maryland. They said that the only thing that they could do was kill the engine and give me a loaner car for the weekend. They let me put my car inside the garage and Leonard smothered the car engine and disconnect the battery cable. Keith stayed well passed closing time that day (Saturday the 24th), to fill out the paperwork for my loaner car. I didnt have to worry about my car that weekend because it was well protected inside the garage. The Tuesday after the Memorial Day weekend I returned to the garage and Leonard reconnect and restarted my car and checked all the fluid levels and tire pressure before I set out on my way back to Maryland. Once back home my VW dealer was able to order and replace the ignition switch. My wife and I would just like to thank Keith and Leonard again for going beyond the call of duty to help us out in our time of need. Thanks Keith and Leonard! James Jenkins.

Forced to purchase another vehicle after my truck died on me, we stopped by Sam Swope Volkswagon because we saw one my wife really liked in their online display of used vehicles. We get there and meet Steven M., salesman, he shows us the car we where there for and quickly realize it was not the car for us. I tell Steven we had others we wanted to see at other lots but he gently persisted to give him a minute. He recalled a vehicle that met our requirements (price, payment, size etc) and asked if we had time to run down the road to their other lot to look at it. Very long story cut short...we are SO GLAD he was persistent (but not pushy!) as we found the car for us. Robert (finance guy) and Steven were able to get us into a newer car than we had hoped for with the price we wanted and payments exactly were we needed them! Robert took the time to explain each and every detail to us so that we were comfortable with what we were signing for and they both were extremely courteous, knowledgable and we had THE BEST car buying experience ever! Let me just say, Id rather go to the dentist than a used car lot!!!!!!!

I am currently leasing a 2013 Jetta from Sam Swope Volkswagen of Clarksville. On several occasions, Ive had discussions with the Sam Swope staff that where very unpleasant. It could just be me, but the phone demeanor of some of this staff is ridiculous, borderline insulting. I dont understand why or how a service provider can speak to its clients in such a way and expect to get repeat business from that client. I guess some people dont have the burden of having to actively seek a customer base. When customers are fed to you because of the quality products you offer, I guess service and courtesy get thrown by the wayside. I will not be re-leasing a vehicle from this dealership once my lease expires. Time to cut ties and try another. I wish they wouldnt give me courtesy calls when they obviously dont understand what it means to be courteous. I am not rude. I just wanted something explained to me so that I could understand. Please teach your staff to respond politely in all circumstances.
