I am sorry to give this rating, because I had two good moving experience with Here to There prior to this one. Short version is that if everything goes right, HtT is fine. If something doesnt go well, customer service goes out the window and you are basically on your own. Do not expect sympathy, and DO expect to pay more for their mistakes. This third move started fine as well--moving crew arrived on time and got right to work. However, the truck wasnt large enough. (I had asked when I initially finalized the appointment if they should come and take a first-hand look, because this was going to be a "big" move. I was told it wasnt necessary.) When it became obvious the truck wouldnt accommodate everything, the movers basically told me it was up to me to figure out what to do and headed to Indy. Fortunately, our neighbors were able to temporarily store the remainder of boxes and items in their garage. When I called Mark the next Monday, he was very sympathetic and said they would do whatever needed to remedy the situation. He offered that a truck was coming from Indianapolis on another move and could pick up remaining items and bring back to Indy. We made all the arrangements, including contact information for our neighbors. The truck never arrived; I only learned why after contacting Mark. When I reached him, he said they had run late and thats why they never came. After another day, he finally called to say that he had talked with his district manager and they had no obligation to do anything under the contract--if we wanted our additional items picked up, it would cost more money. In essence, it was clear that after talking with management, they had withdrawn the Monday offer to remedy the problem without further cost to me. Needless to say, I wasnt interested in paying them even more--I had already paid a lot of money based on a contract that they would move our belongings. We experience major inconveniences and expense that could have been lessened had they wanted to do so. This is the first time I have ever given negative feedback, other than service issues at a restaurant. There are good people at HtT who want to provide good customer service. Unfortunately, apparently there are also some who are more concerned with maximizing profits.

BEWARE. Ive never had a worse experience with a service business of any kind. Im not the one to leave negative reviews and shame companies, but this is completely deserved. Hired Here to There to move a hot tub. 1. Did not move on the originally scheduled date. 2. Showed up unannounced one week later, and despite not being able to reach us on our cell phones moved a hot tub. 3. Had Here to There waited until they spoke with us they would have learned we had already moved out. The pickup location now belonged to new homeowners. 4. They moved the first hot tub they saw. It was the wrong one! Effectively, at this point of the story, they have trespassed and stolen a hot tub. Keep in mind they had pictures and location of the hot tub they were supposed to move. But forget that - they were supposed to speak with someone before they ever moved. 5. They deliver the wrong hot tub to the drop off location. I end up having a mystery hot tub, belonging to people Id never met, sit in my back yard for days until they came back to fix their mistake. 6. My father-in-law originally scheduled the move and specifically instructed them to take money from his credit card on file. They asked me for cash or check before they would drop it off (this ended up being against my father-in-laws wishes.) I paid. 7. I was unable to distinguish the hot tub from the one we were supposed to receive and ended up signing for it. Later, we finally realize it is wrong. 8. Three days later they go to return the hot tub. By now they have already cashed my check. 9. After returning the stolen hot tub, when they see the hot tub they were supposed to move, they refuse for two reasons: 1) one of the side panels is deteriorating and 2) it is too risky to move being so close to an in-ground pool. 10. Since, I have now spent the past two weeks trying to get my money back because they charged me $398 for moving the wrong hot tub and especially since they refused to move the hot tub we hired them to move. The manager JR has not returned my 5+ calls at this point. Im not complaining about a bad move and demanding my money back for a service they provided... THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ME A SERVICE BUT STILL TOOK MY MONEY. I AM FURIOUS. Terrible business practices.

If I could rate less than 1 star, I would. I hired here to there movers June 9. I moved into an upstairs unit. The movers decided they wouldnt use the stairs. Instead they tied ropes around every item I owned and pulled it over a balcony with metal railing....even after I told them I was uncomfortable with it. I purchased an entire house of furniture one year ago. Nice stuff. So my solid wood foot board was damaged first...then a dining room chair...then my solid oak dresser (my only family heirloom)...then they call me to look in their truck. My daughters solid wood dresser had been dropped from their ropes and was completely demolished. They wanted to haul it away "free of charge" to properly assess the damage. They bring an invoice where they first tried to overcharge me by $110 and second, had a paragraph scribbled out where insurance to fully cover damage was an option. I questioned this but i was advised to put in a damage claim online. I put in my claim and sent photos when asked. It took 3 weeks to get someone out to look at my items. He said i would get the estimate on 2 days. Ive made 8 phone calls to get info and each time was told I would hear back the same day. Finally today I get through on 7/31 (7 weeks later), was told they would pay 60 CENTS PER POUND! And they guessed all of that stuff was a total of 150 lbs... ?? Unacceptable. They refused to discuss further even when I offered specs showing the weight of the 3 new pieces of furniture I am still paying on! I tried to settle for $250 to at least buy my daughter a dresser and they refused. I am posting this in hopes that no one will get involved with a nightmare like this. It is was a horrible experience and they have terrible customer service. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY IN INDIANA!

The movers came from Fort Wayne to my home. They were 40 minutes late, though they called to say theyd be late. This was absolutely the worst experience I had ever dreamed of having when moving the contents of my home into storage. The two movers did not accurately judge the of contents of my home, garage, and basement even though I asked them several times if they really thought every thing would really fit in one truck in one trip. It did not. About dark, they decided that two trips would be necessary and that the hours spent packing the truck so tightly was really not necessary. Nine hours later, they finished even though I was quoted a five hour job. The movers were inefficient, less than ambitious, and certainly only interested in extending the hourly rate. Rather than working together, they dragged mattresses, chest, dressers, down stairwys and across carpeting. Rather than backing the truck up to the garage to load the contents, they made an easy fifty trips walking back and forth from the garage to the truck (65 feet) with one (shovel) in one hand, and another (rake) in the other hand. Ridiculous!! Also, one mover hit his own head on the handle of the two wheeled dolly and split his nose wide open. Blood poured from the wound for several minutes, on my floors, and caused a loss of time on the job which I still paid for. I think I was intentionally quoted the job at fewer hours and a lower price just so I would go with this company. DONT go with this group. They are a joke. I am worried sick about the condition of my property that was shoved into the storage unit. Think twice folks.
