My truck stopped across the street from Pep Boys and I called and asked if someone could come and see what was wrong with it. They sent 2 guys over to where my car stopped. They checked it and said that it sounded like my starter had went out. They told me if I could get it towed across the street over to them by 7:00 pm they could check it out. So I got it towed over to them by 7:00 pm and the guy said that he didnt know who had told me that because I would have to wait until the next day because no one there was capable of checking my truck out. So he gave me an estimate of how much it would cost if it was indeed my starter. He estimated about 250.00 to 300.00. So I left my truck there. The guy called me the next morning and said that it was not my starter that was the problem but it was my ignition lock and ignition switch that were the problems. He said that it would cost 550.00 dollars and that I could go online and get a coupon for 10% off. So I told him I would call him back. I called another mechanic and asked him how much would it be to fix the problems that Pep Boys said that I had. He called the auto parts store and got the pricing of the parts and added his labor price and it was only 250.00 total. So I called Pep Boys and let them know that I would not be able to get it done there and that I would have my truck towed somewhere else. So they charged me 48.00 for looking at my truck to see what was wrong (they told me it would only be 18.00 before this) and I had my truck towed somewhere else. Now the reason that Im giving this store a bad review is because when I took it to the other mechanic it ended up that my starter was really the problem. The bolts had come out of my starter and that was why it went out. So I ended up only paying for a new starter plus labor which amounted to 225.00. After they put the starter on my ignition started up just fine with no problems. I really think that Pep Boys was trying to get over on me and overcharge me because Im a woman and they probably figured I wouldnt know what to do. I had heard numerous bad reports about this Pep Boys overcharging people for work that they didnt need but I wanted to see for myself. Because of this I will not trust another Pep Boys because I dont know if they do the same kind of things at all of their shops.

Went in, on a referral from a friend, and spoke with David, who I believe is the Service Manager, asked to have two tires replaced. He worked out some deals, got me a good price and did the work. Spent about 35-45 minutes in store as a walk in. His tech then placed the two new tires on the back of a front wheel drive vehicle...this was not okay-ed by me or any mechanic I have spoken with. I pay my bill, get my car and drive not twenty feet down the road and my TPMS is flashing. I am a female apprentice mechanic, I know this means that #1-the tpms sensors are not sending...aka broken. #2- the idiot that mounted the two new tires crushed one or both of the sensors. Tried for the benefit of the doubt and checked the air pressure at a local gas station, everything was good. Went back to David with the problem and the reasoning behind my request they fix this. He then told me "There is no way you can know that they are not working and they were damaged by us." Again #1 yes there is and #2 YOU are fixing it. It then took them 30 minutes to figure out that the passenger rear sensor was bad, this is a 5 minute job even for a first time tester, I know Ive done it, and surprise it was in a tire they mounted. And I was told the driver rear tpms was okay. David, now in a pissy mood, took my info and said he would get a new sensor and install it. 3 weeks later I had to call him and find out the part was still not in, but he promised to have it by the am. My car is incredibly common, there is no way he had that much trouble getting a part, I know this because I found one on my own in 20 minutes, in stock and in town. I was then told I needed to make another appointment to have it repaired. So now I am 4 weeks with a light flashing on my dash, and the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and from a manager no less. On a good note there will be another review....Stay tuned!

Ok so this is gonna be a long one. Long story short: 8hrs to change oil and swap air filter on 2011 ram 3500 diesel. Dropped off at 11am. Work "scheduled" to be performed; oil change, fuel filter, reverse bulbs replaced, tire rotation, brake check, air filter replaced and code pull from the engine. Called at 5 for an update after no info from anyone at pepboys. No one could figure out how to change fuel filter. No one knew correct oil filter. Bulbs were good narrowed it down to an electrical problem. Air filter changed. Get a call at 6 truck is ready. Picked it up at 7 already dark.Code was deleted with no explanation as to why it came on in the first place. . Fuel filter not changed. Told the reverse light issue was an electrical issue try some one else. Chapter 2. The Next Day: Went outside and noticed my front brake dust covered wheels were still on the front of the truck. Called about the tire rotation getting missed. They advised me to bring it back by and theyd make it right. So I did, like a dummy. I waited one hour for them to rotate tires. Im a patient person but I do think Ill take my companies business and mine somewhere else. SUMMARY:9 hours to rotate tires, change oil and swap air filter. Im not a master mechanic but I know plenty of amateurs that could do that in 2 hrs without a pro shop.

I have the worst experience I have ever had at Pep Boys yesterday. I ran over a nail the night before and put on my spare tire and was able to get my car to them by 11 oclock yesterday. I didnt pick my car up until 430 that evening and they told me that they were not able to fix my tire and that I needed to buy a new one. I want to point out two an a half hours in after he already told me it would only be two hours total I called and he told me that no one had even started on my car and then the gentleman would be back from lunch he would then start on my car afterwards. The customer service I got was horrible and the fact that they were just being shady trying to sell a tire really rubbed me the wrong way. I want to let you know that I went to your competitor this morning discount tire across the street and they were able to fix it within 30 minutes and did it for free after they heard about the bad experience I got from you guys. I will now be a customer of theirs instead of yours when it comes to tires and for all of the repairs I will not be coming to you now either.
