We had a unit come into Selking for a fan hub that came apart. I think these guys did not realize the full extent of the damage, however it was not conveyed very well to me or my staff. We were told the unit would be ready by Friday 6-30-17 (the unit arrived on Wednesday 6-28-17). Penske only had a day cab rental available, so we rented a day cab so we could make our delivery and bring our driver home for the weekend vs sitting him in a hotel for the weekend. The following Friday 7-7-17 we were told the unit would be complete. So we sent our driver in the daycab rental to Richmond hoping to return the day cab and step back into our truck. At 330 on Friday evening Selking was telling me they just needed to program the truck and it was ready to be picked up. Luckily I held my driver at Penske just in case not fully feeling like they had this under control... By 515pm we were told the unit would not be complete because they did not know how to program the unit. My driver drove home yet again in the daycab rental. Today, 7-11-17 the unit is complete. Down time in our industry kills us and inaccurate information is equally if not more of a killer. I would be less upset by this whole transaction had we just known the real deadline. I think you guys have a courteous staff that is pleasant to deal with on the phone, but it seems from a 1000 ft glance that your service writers have no idea what your technicians are actually doing. 14 days is a far cry from our original estimate of 3 days. Selking must understand that their timelines effect their customers severely, and that we are basing our decisions off of what you are telling us. Inaccurate information cost me a lot of down time, wasted fuel, wasted time, and money here. In conclusion, I doubt if we will be back to your location again.

The service and personal touch Selking put into every service was far superior than any other maintenance shop I’ve worked with in the past. If you have trucks in the area, I would highly recommend using Selking Richmond for all your maintenance needs.
