As far as I know, All Cuts has only one employee: Ray, the owner. He is very friendly and easy to talk to. Ive been going here exclusively for the past four years since Ive been in school at ISU, and every single haircut has been great. He has 30+ years of experience, so its not surprising that he does a good job. He gives all his customers a bottle of american-made honey if you visit during the holidays, which goes to show just how well he treats his customers. He is very passionate about his advertisements and gives out notepads and calendars with life advice printed on, which he has been refining over the years. I gave him an idea which he now uses in his ads and he gave me a free bottle of shampoo as thanks for the idea. Its clear from the first visit that he cares about his customers from more than just a business perspective. For me, All Cuts is as much a part of the heart and soul of Ames as Hickory Park or the ISU water tower. This is everything a barber shop should be. Its a bastion of Americana thats being slowly eroded by chains like Great Clips and Sport Cuts. Youll probably get a cheaper (probably lower-quality) haircut at one of those chains, but All Cuts is worth every penny of the $17 youll pay for a haircut. Id gladly pay twice that if it kept this place in business. I would be happy if this review convinces a single person to get their hair cut there. I promise you wont regret it.

The man who owns the barber shop seems to be a man from times gone by. He uses an older cash machine, so you need to bring either a check or actual cash. Hes a kind and fairly personal individual, and cuts hair with precision and experience. I have a mohawk, and wanted the short parts trimmed down, and the results were great. During the cut, he gave me some health advice (not sure of his credentials here, but ok), and gave me a small calendar and a flyer on my way out. The flyer included the pledge of allegiance, as well as a guide to thorough self-awareness and deep-thinking. On the calendar was a few steps on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. All-in-all a very friendly and old-fashioned small-business-style place to get your hair trimmed up. The ending price was $18, which is excellent. Primarily went here originally because Troys reeks of terrible customer service, and so I would definitely be going back to All Cuts again.

Long time family friend, and treats everyone like actual people. Gives great cuts, Ive been going there for 6 years roughly, and I dont ever remember getting a haircut that I did not like. He is retro, yes.. But that adds to the experience of getting a haircut from allcuts. This man deserves more than 5 stars.

Ray the barber is very friendly, he has been cutting hair for 47 1/2 years now which is impressive. However when I asked to get a buzz cut on the side and long on top, he fell short. The top is all uneven and just looks poorly done. Ray is a nice guy, but for younger people look somewhere else.

This place is great. The old man that cuts hair there has been doing it for like 20+ years and always does my hair great. The haircuts are decently priced ($17). Make sure you bring cash or check though since he doesnt accept credit/debt. I will definitely be going there while staying at ISU.

Old school place with a unique haircut conversation experience. I got a very good proper hair and beard cut. If you are friends with someone who likes this place you will probably love it.

You get your haircut by a man with more than 30 years in the business, good price (17usd) and nice atmosphere. Recommend going here, dont go to Troys Barber Shop.

Solid, no-nonsense haircut experience. I recommend this place for male students who need a quick, decent haircut.

Highly recommend this place. The owner is great and the price is well worth the haircut ($19, I believe)
