I drove there straight from work. Could not sign in on line, but saw my place in the cue. People who signed in online AFTER I was sitting there waiting showed up and were taken ahead of me. After the 3rd instance and sitting there for 35 minutes another person showed up and was taken ahead of me. I was told if I wanted better service I should have signed in online. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE! I went to the competitor Sports Clips up the street and was third one there and third one to get my haircut. Not only that, but a haircut and shampoo w/blow dry for military veterans is cheaper at Sports Clips than what I would have had to pay for a haircut at this place. I will never step into this crappy place again!

If you are particular and want a little extra time (more than 5-8 minutes) spent on your hair (in return for what I feel is a hefty tip) and only want a certain stylist, DO NOT go to this particular Great Clips. They all start to look at you as a nuisance and try to get you to leave if that stylist is not working (Ive also had to go back after I got home and realized parts of my hair had not been cut on a few occasions) Also, if you do choose to go to here, keep the convo short with the stylist if you dont want to get sucked in to their salon drama. I can only speak on this particular great clips, but after these experiences I will probably never go to another one.

Unimpressed... asked for a half inch trim, she pressured me into cutting off 2-3 inches, even after I said I didnt want to. When I finally agreed to taking off just over an inch, she kept chopping and didnt blend at all. I have a thick straight line across my back. She also spent the whole time trying to push products and talking about how much product was in my hair (a little argon oil and a detangler) and talking about how much she hates product build up. The whole thing was her trying to get commission. NOT happy. :(

Weve been going for years with declining satisfaction. My son had been growing out his hair and just wanted it trimmed. The stylist took almost all of it off, even after seeing a picture and agreeing that it was possible. The only way to fix this is to buzz it and start over. If you need something more than a buzz cut as fast as possible. This is NOT the place to go.

They do a good job on my husbands military cuts, very patient with an upset toddler, and its easy to get the girls hair done here for a $6 bang trim. They price match competitors coupons and run specials like free cuts with a gift card purchase. Ive tried the check-in online and that worked very well.

Just got the absolute worst hangover d part of my life!!!! She cut it short and then there wasnt even enough to make a part!!!!!!! Id been growing my hair out for 6 months trying to get it long enough to get a legit hard part!!!! Have to shave it now!!!!!!! Dont ever have Julie cut ur hair!!!!

I needed to get my boys in a few Fridays ago, they pushed them in. It was a life saver! About 6 months before for that I got my hair French braided for the first time in over 20 years. I was an emotional mess both times. Yet ,they were very understanding and professional at the same time.

DO NOT GO HERE! I went in to get a trim. The lady who cut my hair was very rude and took around 35 minutes to cut a couple inches off. I had a picture of what I wanted my hair length to be and she cut it WAY shorter than what I told her to. A truly awful haircut and waste of money

If you go make sure Amy is working and ask for her. She is very nice and knows how to cut hair. Ive tried many salons in Ankeny and surprisingly Amy at great clips was the best. I hope this helps anyone who is skeptical about getting a haircut at great clips!

I agree with the previous reviewer, Amy is THE best. I had a horrible customer service experience at this GC, but if I have to get through the rude people (who also work for tips, so go figure) to get to Amy, I guess Ill have to endure it.
